I've stopped in numerous times over the last five years, and every time the service has taken longer. The Guinness is still great, and the apple roasted pork sandwiches have never been better.

Revisited after 10-year absence. What a dump. Music is now an afterthought. 7:30PM on Sat. and they were out of their 3 signature dishes, Bangers & mashed, Guiness Stew and CB & Cabbage. Beer tasteed stale and buddy with me in the business said it was due to dirty beer lines. Awful expereice. Steve from Manchester, MO

Great Great Great So So Good
I really love this place. Have been coming here for about the last 4 years or so. The atmosphere is great and the stouts are forever flowing. The only trend that I've noticed over the past year is that some of the bartenders have developed a chip on their shoulders. On more than one occasion I've been scoffed at and once even chased out in the crowd because the snot-nosed barkeep was unsatisfied with the tip they were given. Nevermind the fact that most of the time you're waiting to be served at the bar for at least 15 minutes. I realize how busy a Fridays and Saturdays can be, but there is never a time when a bartender should smart off to a patron. Sometimes you get the vibe that they don't "need" your business, so they're not going to go out of their way to serve you.

This review is very unfair toward McGurk's. The gentleman was drinking at McGurks and was obviously intoxicated. This gentleman sounds like he did nothing wrong, of course not, nobody will admit when they are in the wrong. So he was drunk and got into a fight. Isn't it good bar procedure to kick out everyone that was involved so that everyone else can have a good time and not have to worry if those two clowns are going to try to pick a fight with them next? I would even bet that 'Ross' has been in his fair share of bar altercations but when one of his "comfort" bars tries throwing him out he will have none of it, because he didn't do anything wrong. Right. I know McGurks and its employees well and simply can not believe this joker. I'm glad he got kicked out. Great place, great food and drink, my favorite place to go.

Good Good Good Good Lousy
To be honest I have drunk at this establishment for 8 years, I even met my wife their. However in the last few months times have changed? One Wednesday night I went to the rest rooms and on the way accidently nudged someone, saying excuse me on the way and not thinking to much about it carried on. Anyhow the next thing I know that person followed me into the toilet and started a fight with me, so I defended my self and in the attempt all my nerves in my left finger were severed as the guy bit me!! Not a major deal until the new head of security "JAY" wanted to throw me out. Why I ask because he did'nt do his job???

FACTS are I did nothing wrong, the other bartenders supported me as I did nothing wrong but this "Jay" wanted me out of the pub!!!! Ever since then this "Jay" has had a personal problem with me, as it's one of those blame someone else syndroms!! Recommendations don't go their, good Irish music but no adequate protection!! People who have no training in security.

There are two primary reasons that I say so-so: trendiness kills good vibes everytime, and more importantly, the day that you start charging over $5 for a glass of beer, you no longer deserve business. There is never a reason to rape your clientele like that.

This is a great place and Johnny 1 who is saying that they should take down the pictures and all should read the Irish proclomation by the front bar.The Patriots who died did so to ensure Ireland would move foward and we would not be built as bars that are livin in the past.The heros hangin on the wall would be proud of Mc Gurks.And if he only listened to the Lyrics of The Great band that he likes "the Irish Brigade " he'd realise this.In his own words "wake up"Johnny 1

MGurks is the best Irish atmosphere west of the Mississippi. The music is always first rate and you'll usually find good traditional Irish tunes done by bands from Ireland. Johnny the bartender is the best and make sure you say hello, or you'll be missing part of the fun of the night. It's a must do in St. Louis on a Friday or Saturday night.

So So Good So So So So Lousy
Should not be an Irish Bar any longer. Fine establishment, pity they can not pull off the true feeling of Irish bars. Get rid of the pompous bar tenders. They should come down off their cloud and have a laugh. It is quite obvious that there is an attitude problem with the staff. Take down the true representitives of Ireland that line your walls, they would turn in their graves! The only aspect that feels Irish is the great Irish Brigade.

Good beer variety from traditional Irish to local miros. Food is exceptional and not too expensive. Best garden in the city. Service is friendly. Even the bartenders are Irish. Great place to relax.

The best place for Guinness in St. Louis. Great live music with no cover (except holidays like St. Paddys day). Plenty of Irish folk here, staff and patrons. Also college frat types and professionals.
