I was recently there and had a good time. Being from the Midwest, it was great to have West coast ales - Deschutes, Full Sail, etc.
Service was decent - my beer was quickly refilled when requested. That was what mattered to me :)
The food was also good - nothing stellar, but good enough. I think they have $2.75 pints after 9 PM.

Really gone downhill in the last few years. Nobody there seems to care about much of anything. Their website has "current events" from 2003 on it, if that tells you anything.

They have a very nice outdoor cafe setup out on the sidewalk. The food was great and so was the service. The beer selection was pretty good, more than the typical bud, bud clone, bud light, bud light clone, and a microbrew on tap you see in most places. I tried a couple of cold brews one from Seatle and the other from Portland, OR. I was not impressed. The Rogue Brutal Bitter had the nastiest case of chill haze I think I've ever seen, a little off flavored too. The other beer I tried wasn't terribly good either, it tasted like bananas it shouldn't have tasted so, the name escapes me. I had heard so many northwesterners rave about how great their microbrews are. I am beginning to think they are delusional.

Bittercreek is a great place to people watch and in the summer they have a small, outdoor patio where you can get away from the smoke. If you don't like cigars, don't go there on weekend evenings. The food is usually very good and the beer selection is super. The bartenders are super and friendly but the service can be slow at times. Great place to hang out with friends on a warm summer evening after work.

I'm gonna side with that guy Matt on this one, being also from Boise myself, and also knowing one of the bartenders.. the best thing about Bittercreek is the fact that so many of the PNW breweries are experimenting with Nitro-kegged versions of their regular beers, and Bittercreek seems to be openly accepting all of them (Rogue, Pyramid, etc..) Oh, if I could get a nitro- Dead Guy Ale in Baltimore... Cheers to the guys at Bittercreek.

Maybe it's because I know one of the bartenders, or maybe it is because I grew up in Boise, but the service at Bitter Creek is as great as the unmatched (in Boise) Northwest beer selection.

Situated in the newly-revamped downtown, this is a popular place to have a beer, get a burger or fish dinner, and hang out. However, being in the popular downtown area may have stunted Bitter Creek's development. Because they get an almost guaranteed flow of traffic, they skimp on both courtesy in service, and servers; it's not uncommon to sit for 10 minutes before someone stumbles up and they're not apt to make you feel welcome. The food can be excellent, but it varies from day-to-day. I'd skip Bitter Creek and go across the street to "The Grape Escape" for a glass of wine and a smile from the server.
