This review is based on when the Water Tower was a brewpub, and not the pitiful shell you now see today. The place had the worst service you've ever seen. I mean, it was REALLY bad. It was so bad, that it almost became an endearing quality of the place. But dammit, the beer was good! Old Pappy's Porter was the star of the show... just a great version of the style. Their Barleywine is still one of the top 5 beers I've ever had. Yes, the employees and management left a lot to be desired, but you knew what you were getting when you went in, and it was pretty darn good. Today, the brewery lies tragically dormant. Let's hope those jerks light the candle at least one more time :)

great service, great bartenders...maybe to those who thought the bartenders might be a little cocky, may be a bit to sensitive to realize the sarcasm and good humor...well worth stopping in

Water Tower is just about out of business as a brewpub; down to brewing just two relatively light ales. Service was nonobtrusive as usual allowing plenty of time to wait while being ignored.

Like a few other reviews, the service sucks. Where did they get the bartenders from? Very cocky, rude, and generally a smart ass. I have been here several times over the past few years, hoping the service and beer would improve. This will be my last visit. Go over to Sherlock Holmes for consistantly good beer.

I was very disappointed with the service. I was there for my birthday on a Saturday night. That night there were only 2 bartenders and maybe 1 server. It was about a 10 minute wait to order a very weak and over priced drink. The table we tried to use while playing pool was covered with trash, full ash trays and food from the earlier customers. I left the Water Tower vowing that I would never go back because I was so upset over the entire experience. Do yourself a favor and go down the road to Redstone or Champs.

Now I know Champps was full two blocks away on Saturday 10-12-02. Service at this place SUCKS! I was there with a group of 11 guys for a Bachelor Party and it was like we weren't even there. Only one waitress to wait on the whole dining area, plus she was working the bar. We weren't even done and was asked "would you like your check?" Then when we wanted our check it took two guys and 10 minutes to get it. I know the guys from the Twin Cities that were in the group vow not to return.

We got there on a Friday afternoon, and, although we were the only ones in there, no one seemed to want to wait on us. The beers were fairly run-of-the-mill for brewpubs but certainly not worth putting up with the kids who worked there & were more interested in chatting with their friends than waiting on customers. you can certainly do better in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area!

the bartender didn't know much about the beers....tried them all and was not impressed...not that they were bad...just bland, lacked carbonation and any real flavor.....nice place though with pool tables and attatched to a bowling alley?

Clarification: I realize they are an all ale brewery and can't make a true Oktoberfest but they called it one anyway. It was the best tasting beer I had there, regardless of trueness to style(or lack thereof). Have heard great things about the barley wine but it was not available when I was there. Perhaps I will return in hopes that the thin lack of character in their beers was not the norm.

Thank God someone in Minnesota finally had the cajones to make something different! The Rauch Bier is outstanding. While others in the metro are content on making the same old bitters, gold ales, IPA, etc, these guys are pushing the envelope.

I'm not sure where Trevor was, but this brewery has no way to make and Oktoberfest as it is an all ale brewery! I guess one who drinks a lot is not a beer expert. Go back and try the barleywine or the Anniversary Ale!

Very watery beers. When I was there they had a seasonal that was all right, I think it was an Octoberfest. If you're looking for real beer go somewhere else. This place is run by Brunswick-I don't think building bowling allies makes one a beer expert. Very commerciallized beer for the masses. Nice pool tables.

We enjoyed both the food and beer here. I thought the beer was slightly better than at the Water Tower in Kennesaw, GA.
