What a gem! I can't believe we live 30 minutes away and never knew this was here. They have moved their operation to Bloomfield to a small, unassuming building in an industrial park, that almost made us think we were in the wrong place. But once you walk in, you know you're in the right place. The beer was tasty, the atmosphere was relaxed and the 2 brewers/employees that were there were friendly, laid-back and knowledgeable. They were also very generous with their samples. There was a couch and 2 comfy chairs and a big throw rug laid out so you can sit and relax while enjoying your samples! I highly recommend this place!!

We drove here only to find they are no longer a brewpub. This is now a beer production facility only! Don't waste your time like we did.

Havent eaten here but have had the beer. The quality of the brew is awsome and the brewer is one very cool guy. Actually let us sample right from the holding tank via a pigtail. I did hear that they either sold or closed the restaraunt.

Tried the other brewpub in Hartford? Not satisfied? Give Troutbrook a try! This place has a wide selection with some very good beers. My favorite is the porter, wish I could get a growler of that to go. The service has always been quick and courteous while I was there. If you are looking for some great beers, relaxed atmosphere and good food this is the place! If you have not been here in a while stop in, you will be in for a surprise.

Brewmaster Paul Davis brews some great beers. Stop in and try some, especially the IPA if you like a really great IPA. I liked the old bar much better than the new decor. The old bar is still there under the raised area.

The atmosphere was ok; building is great from the outside and not bad inside, but it was very quiet and dull (on a Saturday, yet) when I visited. Had a GREAT bacon cheeseburger with excellent fries. BUT, this is mostly about the beer for me and it fell way short. Am I just more critical than most of the other raters here, at least when it comes to this place? I didn't have one beer that was better than mediocre, though I would say the IPA was fairly drinkable. But the Thomas Hooker, Blonde, Winter Brew and Porter were all bland, forgettable, watery. Sorry. Doubt I'll get back, especially as Hartford is not exactly the most inviting town in the country.

Paul's IPA is the best and the food was almost as good. Paus Davis has brought his great recipies from Moultonboro and given Connecticut a great Brewpub. We can't wait to go back again. Ken, Garfield, NJ

It seems like people haven't been here in a while, but it was a pretty decent place. The decor is nice, even if the neighborhood is iffy. They had eight beers on tap (brown, red, esb, pale, ipa, summer lager, blonde and rasp. blonde) and i've only given them a "good" in selection because there wasn't enough distinction between some of the styles and they probably could have offered the same variety with 4 or 5 (pale and ipa were too close, red and brown were, etc.). With that said, the ESB and Hooker Pale Ale were very good. They open at 4:00 on saturday and we were the first customers of the day, and got great service. We had wings and pizza, and both were decent pub grub. I'd go back again.

What happened to this place? It use to have a great beer selection and I really miss the peanuts. I raved about how great a place this to my friends, brought them and was very disappointed.

I hear there are new owners and the onsite brewing is going to start again. Cna't wait because the Nut Brown is great!! Ernie is still the best bartender in the world but get rid of that dingy blonde behind the bar!!! Her laugh alone will make you want to leave more than her crappy service.

It seems the brewer has decamped and the brewery right now serves only the basic pale ale and a bunch of guest brews. That said, a few of the guest brews are better than what they'd been serving. Call ahead--this is rapidly turning into a yuppie beer bar instead of a brewpub.

I have visited this establishment on numerous occasions and have always found the beer and food very good. The darker beers during the winter are especially good. Eveytime I have ordered food, it has always been top notch. The pulled pork sandwich is especially excellent. On weekends, they have live bands and I have seen some great local talent, especially some great blues bands.

What a disappointment. I went because the brewer, Jack, really salvaged the beers at the late lamented Zip City in NYC. But these beers were, for the most part, short on body and character. It's probably best to order the heavier beers, especially the winter seasonals, since at least they have some mouthfeel. Too bad.

Ernie is the greatest bartender in history. Love the Stout and Nut Brown, and the nachos are extremely good. Beer cheese soup is inspired.

We've been to both locations several times while visiting relatives in CT. Wish they'd expand to the Cape so we don't have to see the relatives, but just enjoy Trout Brook. Well worth the trip!

The decor and atmosphere are nice. The beer is good- not outstanding- as is the food. A good place overall. Better beer can be had elsewhere in town and the state, but Trout Brook is worth a visit.

We ate out on the Deck at Trout brook brwery's Bissel Tavern in Windor CT. We had Octoberfest Beer and Raspberry Wheat beer both were very good. We had a quesadilla, it was poor. It was burnt around the edges and it was still cold in the middle. the cheese was still in string form. The deck condition was discusting. The were smashed french fries, napkins, cigarette butts, and acorns all over the deck. It was not a clean environment. Beer was good, that's it!!!!!!!!!

The bartenders were very helpful recommending something for my wife , who is a casual Amstel Light drinker. We tipped the barkeep good on our first round and he recommended beers for the rest of the evening. We ranged from the Hookers to the Boc. The burgers were good.

I got ESB for Hooker, and Hooker for ESB, but they both were fine, expecially the ESB. The Nut Brown was also very good. Nice selection, I thought the menu was limited though, so we went elsewhere. Nice atmosphere, I'll go back. It was pretty quiet, and the service was lousy.

This converted factory is utterly charming. Seven beer choices available, am I getting so spoiled that that only counts as a "good"? Also, no heavy ales or barley wine.
