my favourite bar! the best beer selection in this area (186 bottled, and i think like 25 or so on tap), and amazing food too (lots of stuff for vegetarians, as well as normal bar fare). some of the staff can get a bit...terse, especially when they're busy. brad's awesome though. hmm..what else...awesome jukebox, really nice bar-next-door sort of atmosphere. if you like shots, ask for the ninja turtle, it's difficult to place what it tastes like, but you won't care because it's so good. overall really awesome bar, and a great place to sit and watch a game or hang out w/friends or try interesting beers.

Best beer selection in the Downriver area. Great food and good prices. Good mix of patrons ranging from 21 to in their 80's. Good lunch specials. Decent juke box. This is a comfortable place to visit with honest barkeeps, a good amount of seating for it's size (I've always been able to get a seat - even on busy nights), and an eclectic, pleasant interior. Highly recommended.

The beer selection is wonderful! Come here and bring your friends. If it is packed people really seem to come and go quickly from this bar I have never waited more than 10 minutes and I was seated. It can get jammed up and it can be uncomfortable. Sometimes I feel bad for the staff because it is soo busy. They have the best Bombs in all of Downriver frozen mugs with frozen shot glasses inside and real Red Bull. The beer is so cold sometimes it hurts my teeth. I love it! Keep it up Oak Cafe your my Oak!

My Favorite Bar. I think they have a really good staff, they do seem a little short handed sometimes. I think people that complain about the service they get on here just sound like they are snobs. Watch the movie WAITING you really should not screw with the people that serve you. I think they do an great job. Keep up the good work Oak Cafe!

This is a real fine local bar. It's not pretentious or stuffy. Just good local clientele. Families there for food until about 7PM. Then a slightly younger crowd comes in for drinking hours. But everyone will be comfortable in the neighborhood bar type atmosphere. Always about 20-25 brews on tap. Lots of Michigan beers available. Good place for sports. Food is typical bar food, but real good. One of my favorite places to go in the Downriver area, my friends from Grosse Pointe, Livonia and elsewhere all like to come here as well. Once saw Tom Arnold here watching a Red Wings game.

I went there for dinner today which is New Year's Eve. I have been there once before when I took my son there for his birthday and I wasn't happy with the place then but I thought I would give it another try. I was upset first of all to find out that they only took cash.....no credit or debit cards. I never carry cash on me because I use my debit card everywhere I go. They did have an ATM machine there but of course there was a charge to use it. I was also very upset that the smallest hamburger is 1/2 pound. I would rather have a 1/4 pound hamburger and I'm sure that there are other people that would like 1/4 pound hamburger also. Then you get chips and cole slaw with a burger NOT fries. What kind of a bar is that? I had to pay 75 cents extra for the fries which were nasty and I just realized that I didn't even get my cole slaw. The hamburger was not that good. I will never go back there again.

By far my favorite bar. It can get very packed in there on Thurs-Sat so the servers are rushed. Everyone has always been nice and though I am not a regular there, they remember me and usually what I drink when I come in. You will not find 22 oz Octoberfest Draft anywhere else for $4.75.

Stuck here in An Numaniyah, Iraq, this is a place I dream of. A lunch special burger and an afternoon buzz or a night out with my old downriver mates are simple pleasures of freedom to enjoy. Quality and speed from the short order cook/bartender. I tip huge so maybe my service is better. I miss the place and love the wasp cultural diversity. 'Doc Beard -Iraq-

my personal favorite bar Downriver. great selection of hundreds of beers along with a typical bar food menu makes this place a fun place to stop by and relax with some friends for the night. unless youre a regular or familiar looking to the staff, dont expect good service. bartenders are usually arrogant and they never seem to have enought waitstaff. all in all though The Oak is a choice bar.

food is good, service is a question mark at best. maybe a few more servers, the many choices of brews are sure to get you drunk. beware the odd mullett or two, after all, this bar is downriver.

This place has the very best bar burger around, and the beer selection is just short of Godly. The ONLY real problem in this equation is the staff. The bartenders are alright, but some of waitstaff, more specifically the guys, are less than freindly. If you've got patience for irritable beer boys, the food alone is worth the trip.

Would like to differ on "Mark Bergeron, Allen Park, MI " opinion. i THINK THE SERVICE IS GREAT! Never had a problem and have bee going there for many years. I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. The draft selection is still the best in the area and still rivals the multi tap franchises that are invading the area. The bottle selection is unbeatable with at least 200 to choose from.. Great Place to enjoy a beer.....

The only thing that keeps this place alive is the beer. Amazing selection with beers on draft you never thought you would find out of Europe. The Service here is nothing short of terrible. Waiting for your drink, rude servers. As a beer lover I used to go here a lot, but haven't in a while because of the service.

A place worth checking out. I admire the fact that the owner has had the bals to offer 'good' beer to a mostly blue collar population. Many beers--that is good. Spoiled beer--that is bad. More than once I have gotten spoiled Bell's products here, guess they don't turn 'em over fast enough. When I told the waitress she took a sip and said, "Seems good to me" ! I told her she better tell the owner, (she *said* she would) lest they get sued for poisoning somebody; the beer clearly smelled rotten. Anyway, barring that, this is still a very good beer bar to this local. They just gotta watch that, and also rip down some of the funky beer ads/signs hanging around, tho they have improved on this. While I'm at it, get those crapy C&W tunes off the juke ! And watch the quality of the product, man! !
