The former River Rock, former Chit's is now the Castawawy Island Grille & Brewery. I have not been there since its most recent reincarnation, so I cannot comment on food or service. The brewer remains the same as before. The atmosphere is supposedly Carribean of sorts. The menu is available online at http://www.rivermarketdistrict.com/castawaymenu.html.

The remoldeling has done nothing to improve the service or the atmosphere. And the quality of the beer has declined drastically if my one pint of Amber Ale is representative. The beer selection has shrunk, probably in reponse to local tastes. Even if I could overlook those shortcomings, the constant assault of feces humor (it's amazing how much mileage they extract from play on the name "Chit") is too offensive. Good location, great potential, too bad.

This place has reopened under the name of Chit's - Food, Sudz & Fun. The theme is sort of down-home South. Everything on the menu is purposely misspelled. They continue to brew their own beers. The menu listed about a half dozen or so choices ("brewed by Uncle Otto" or something like that). I just had one pint, an amber ale, and it was actually quite good for the style. They were doing a modest weekday lunch business when I was there. It is close to I-30 when passing through Little Rock, just off the Markham exit just south of the bridge. There is also a Flying Saucer Draught Emporium just a block away.

On most of my visits I have found the beer quality to be excellent. When it first opened, the menu offered a interesting variety of dishes and the food was better than average (the pizza was particularly good). Since then the quality has drastically declined; even the spicy, fresh-tasting salsa is now bland and watery with lumps of canned tomatoes. Last vist, the waiters had to hunt for the current beer list! The service at least has always been consistent: lousy. Go for the beer, but avoid the food, and expect irregular service.

Go to RRB for the beer and a view of Arkansas River from the deck. The appetizers are OK, but the entrees are way over-rated. Try their IPA and Stout...both are tasty.
Be prepared!!! You may want to order more than one brew at a time though...the wait staff (as a whole) are not very attentive.

The homemade beer is of very high standard and there is a good selection on offer, although you have to ask to find out what is currently available. Regular visitors will be aware that there is often a special brew available in addition to the regular ones. The AlterEgo and Bird Dog Brown are personal favorites. Unfortunately the food has been of a consistantly low standard and the staff far from attentive, at least on one recent visit they didn't charge us for a particularly scary sandwich. My tip, eat somewhere first then make the most of Omar's excellent brews.

I was there last week. I thought the beer was good. I agree with the earlier comments, the waiters do seem to get lost. The food was good but pricey for the quantity received.

I believe if the service was better and faster their business would be better. There own beer is pretty good and they have a good selection of it, but the other beer selections are lacking.

The beer selection is limited but what they do have is pretty good. I found the service to be adequate. The staff was cool but they were more interested in talking than working. The place could use a good spring cleaning.

Other than their own brew, the selection was not spectacular. However, most of their own beers were very good.

Nice atomosphere. Beer was good and the food was great. Nice selection. A little pricey on some dishes. Order dinner soon after getting your appetizer because your waiter will get lost after a while. Nice place.

First of all, my bartender was pretty cool. The peach wheat was interesting, it reminded me of Belgian White Ale. There's brew related quotes all over the walls. Write one down on some paper and give it to the barkeep. If they use it, you'll get a free dinner.

Great Alt, Stout, IPA and Brown Ale. The wheat beers are good, too. The grilled Brats, Elk flank steaks, appetizers, and pizzas are wonderful.

The atmospere was great. The beer selection was very limited. The reasons I gave this establishment a so-so rating was the fact that the prices for the food didn't equal the quantity received. I would suggest only going here for a beer. [A note: It has been awhile since I went to this establishment and they may have changed things up, so go ahead and give it a try.]
