Totally agree with the last reviewer. Go somewhere else for beer.
Was at their Shea Blvd location in March. All of their beer tasted like it was poured out of dirty lines. I told the bartender this, and he assured me that he's seen them clean their lines. I responded that their beer must be lousy then.
To his credit he didn't take any offense and let me sample many of the beers, unfortunately all with the same dirty finish. He also gave me a ton of good local info.

of the eight brewpubs that i visited during 10 days in arizona, this is the only one that i found disappointing. the blueberry set the tone - very sour. if it is supposed to be a belgian, nothing said so. the ipa had an odd flavor. the honey steam is a beer for bud drinkers. the hefeweizen is decent, but light-bodied. does every arizona brewer make a hefeweizen? it seems so. the oatmeal stout is sweet up front with a slightly sour finish. all beers tended toward the sour side. dirty lines, maybe? i would've asked the bartender about the beers, but she seemed totally clueless and far more interested in the male waitstaff than the customers. there is a lot of good beer in arizona, so don't waste your time here.

The IPA was at best average (I thought the IPA at Hard Rock down the street was better). The Bitter was rather poor. The food (hamburger) was good, but rather overpriced (9.00).

I have been a regular at Uptown, err Streets of New York Brewery, for several years now. For me it is like my second home so it is hard for me to give a partial review. However the beer has been on the decline recently. Somedays it is awesome. Others it is flat and warm. What makes this place so special are the girls and guys who work there (Lauri, Jen, Brenda, Nicole, John, Candice). They always have a smile on their face and are happy to serve you. The food is great. Highly recommend pint night on Tuesdays where the brew is only 2 bucks.

The first thing I notice about this marble and fine wood laden bar/restaurant was the enormous amount of room BEHIND the bar. Not that the young lady tending the bar needed that much room, though she was wearing ill-fitting hip huggers that shouldn’t have been made in that size. I digress, the IPA and amber were good enough to disappear before my entrée (a healthy serving of delicious crusted salmon) thus allowing me to increase my sample size. Though, I may have overstayed my welcome. Jughead sitting next to me (definitely one of those “regulars” with too much time and too little wit) started showing me his collection of highly polished turquoise pebbles which he remarkably had on his person stored in a plastic lunch baggie…it was all good, as this allowed me to soak in some of the best “talent” I’ve seen in the Arizona brewpubs…if you’re young and single, check out the patio area…or even if you’re old and hitched, check out the patio area…interesting place.

The brewmaster was helpful but we were slightly stunned when he said his light beer was comparable to bud. Why would anyone brew bud?? The other beers (Wheat, red and IPA) were ok. Not great, just ok. Food was good. Service was not. Waiter screwed up all drink & food orders. I would not recommend this to any real homebrew fan.

Very pleasant waitstaff and brewmaster. The brewmaster stated that his IPA was very popular, but unfortunately it wouldn't be available until the following day. I enjoyed the Dentral Park Paile Ale which, unlike the previous reviewer, I found to have a fine finish. Homemade potato chips and a spicy party mix were comlimentary at the bar. The only menu items that we sampled were the spring roll appetizers; they were quite good.

If you truly love hand-crafted beer, you may want to avoid this one. The beer had good color, but tasted slightly better than mass produced yellow beer. It lacked depth and flavor, and died in the finish. We had no food, but the menu did look good.

Only had the beers at beerfests, they were tasty, and I am adding them to my pubcrawl list. Had a very good heffe, and a nice amber ale, as well as a tasty scottish. Give them a try!!

Nice place but bring your check book if you are going to eat here. My wife and I each got hamburgers for lunch and they were about $9.00 each, I have had cheaper in Los Angeles and New York. The food was good but the food bill really shocked us. They had a nice selection of beers as well. The beers I tried were fine. Everyone, with the exception of our waitress, was very friendly and helpful. I would go back if I were ever in town again.

Being a stout drinker, I really did not care for their dark beer. What I found was their Apple Red and their Blueberry beer was wonderful. I would definately go again.

Nice place, good atmosphere. Sat at the bar and visited with the bar keep, who willingly provided samples and tried to answer our questions. They had a good selection of brews, although most favored the basics. All in all a good place that I will visit again.

Nice atmosphere with excellent beer selection and quality. Several seasonal offerings along with the regulars really rounded out the selection. Had the Belgian Abbey Ale and Bavarian Hefeweizen seasonals (both very good) then the Blonde Ale and Porter (nice). Seemed like a comfortable place to hang with friendly staff.

The Octoberfest beer (Maerzen) was excellent. Very, very good pale ale. The home cooked German food for Octoberfest was some of the best I've ever had. Get in there while they have this special menu. The young woman who waited on us was superbly attentive and diligently answered a myriad of questions we had about the brewing, the food and the building.

Uptown Brewery is the perfect addition to the "East Side" of the greater Phoenix area. Uptown's focus is on the brewing of quality beer, rather than a trendy meeting place. They provide an excellent seven beer sampler for only six dollars. My favorite was the IPA, which was emphatically bitter, well balanced, sharp and very flavorful. Give Uptown a try, you'll enjoy it.
