Good Irish pub w/ good beer selection and good irish whiskey choices as well. Service was very good even though it was a busy Saturday night.

I was in town on a business trip. This is now my home away from home. Tim and Theresa (the bar staff) took care of me. Thereas is from Galway. The Guinness was fresh, they have Boddingtons, Harp, Heinekens, and Smithwichs on tap as well as a few others. Trad irish entertainment mixed with folk, country, etc on Fridays, and Saturdays. Lots of frendly locals make this a nice spot for dinner and a few pints. Imperial pints they are, too. I recommend this place.

Fado Irish Pub (Chicago)
What – an Irish Pub with “real” Irish folk working there? I thought you just hung up a “Guinness” sign and that made you an Irish Pub? What a refreshing development!
This is a very friendly bar, from the wait staff to the customers – Chicagoans and tourists alike. If other half can get gabbing with someone in the first five minutes of being there, then it’s a friendly bar! Nothing pretentious here – just a great place to have a pint. I counted 16 taps, but I only needed one the day I stopped – the Guinness. It was perfectly poured, and very fresh. Judging by the amount they go through, how could it not be! As crowded as the place was, the barmen were right there to start you another. You didn’t need a signal flare in this place to get their attention. And the brogue of the paddy’s behind the bar were enough to bring a tear to yer eye.
This is the type of place where I don’t look at the price – I throw a stack on the bar and they can take what they want. If you have to pay for atmosphere, so be it. I don’t know if the pints were $5 or $25, and I didn’t much care. This is the first “real” Irish pub I’ve been in in a long, long time. I’ve gone in way too many “O’Flaherty’s” or “O’Brien’s” over the years only to find Beulah the chain-smoking barmaid from Dubuque behind the bar pouring warm pints of Killian’s (crap). If this place is a chain as someone complained – good. Then please open one in Albany.

It's been said that if Disney created their own version of an authentic Irish pub, it would look something like Fadó's - and I tend to agree. I find it amazing that this establishment does not come off as being overly pretentious considering everything to be found inside. Ya, it can be a heavy tourist hangout (and can be quite busy), but I've also noticed plenty of true Irish folk around upstairs watching live football (soccer). I personally love the over-the-top 'authentic' decorating across the entire pub (3500 square feet, I'm told), which creates a great atmosphere no matter where you're sitting. The bartenders appear to understand the proper methods of pouring beer, especially the classic Guinness style, and I have to say that I also actually enjoy the food there. Although a draw of Guinness (20oz. imperial pints, I believe) or just plain old Miller Lite sets you back $5, the reasonable pricings on everything else off the menu make's Fadó's worth it, especially if you're looking for a fun pseudo-Irish pub while you're in the downtown Chicago area.

This place is not an Irish bar. It is a prefab chain bar in several big cities. If you want to drink overpriced beer surrounded by Trixies and Chads celebrating their "25% Irish" lineage, go here.

I have been to Ireland and I didn't see anything like this. The atmosphere is fun - way crowded on the weekends though. The waitstaff is very friendly. I recommend it.

My wife, Katie O'Flaherty, and I were in there last weekend for a beer. Very nice inside. Service was okay. Didn't look at the menu. Noticed that they had the liquor bottles to serve as they do in the UK, eg. upside down with pourers. They had an decent selection of Irish whisky, but not the best. Upon leaving my wife (who has been to Ireland)that the place was more Irish than Ireland.

An authentic replica of a Dublin pub, or so say the bartenders. And they should know--most of them are expatriates of the Emerald Isle. They're always friendly and good for a chat when it's not too busy. And they never tire of answering questions about Ireland, despite being asked countless times. The beer selection is OK, bringing standard British Isles beers to tap such as Boddingtons, Bass, Guinness, etc. Mostly I go to Fado for their Irish whiskey selection, which outdoes any I've seen before. Careful though, it's not a cheap place to put down a couple shots.

I haven't been to this one, but I've been to the sister bar in Atlanta, which is absolutely the best Irish pub I've ever gone to!

Man, I can't believe there isn't a review for this place! An excellent stop if you're into the whole Irish pub thing. This bar is three stories tall, and you have to really go there on a slow day to really appreciate the atmosphere. The whole bar is made in Ireland, and imported to the States. There are wall paintings and really cool things hanging from the ceiling. You really just have to go there to appreciate it.
