Arkansas' only microbrewery, Diamond Bear is an excellent brewery that distributes its beers throughout the state. Their English Pale Ale won the gold at the 2007 GABF and they've won several times in the past. They give tours on Saturday afternoons, but the best place to try their beers on draft is at the Flying Saucer near the River Market. Too many local restaurants and bars do not support their local brewery, unfortunately.

Frequent traveler to Little Rock for KARN Newsradio and I live in the beer capital of the U.S., Bend, Oregon. I love Diamond Bear's pale ale which I think is as good as the famous Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale. It is very, very good. When in Little Rock, this is my favorite beer place away from home and will continue to be. Very nice people, too. Always feel welcome with great hositality. Thank you.

Octoberfest 6/10; Irish Red 5/10; Pale Ale 4/10; Honey Weiss 3/10; Southern 2/10. Rating is where 10 is best. Brewery tours and sampling Saturday afternoons. Beer sales and gift shop during normal business hours.

Their Pale Ale is awesome, which could explain why it was selected as winner of the Gold Medal at the Beer World Cup in 2004 and the Silver Medal at the Great American Beer Festival in 2003. The Irish Style Red is another excellent choice. This beer also won at the 2004 Beer World Cup, although only the bronze. Both are excellent choices but have a very limited distribution network. Currently they are only available in a couple, maybe a few southern states. I have found only a couple of places to buy the Pale Ale, which will usually have the Southern Blonde as well, but to get the Irish Style Red you must go to the brewery downtown. The brewery does offer a nice tour. The tour consists of a walk around the facility, a beer history lesson, and a sampling of the different types of beers. At this time they are only bottling the Pale Ale, Irish Style Red Ale, Southern Blonde, and a low carb Ultra. They also brew a Brown Ale and occasional "seasonal" varieties like Summer Wheat and Octoberfest.

Stopped by while in town when the tap room was not open. However, the brewmaster was their and he game me and my friend a nice tour and showed off their new bottleing line. Enjoyed the samples and brought a bunch of beer home with me!

I found four Diamond Bear beers available on draft at the Flying Saucer in Little Rock. I tried two of them, bypassing the Southern Blonde and the Summer Wheat. The Irish Red had a deep reddish-brown color (at least in the low lighting of the Saucer), and a rich malty flavor with good hop balance that I found very enjoyable. The Pale Ale was true to style in color, with a noticeable yet understated hop presence that would likely disappoint some hopheads. I’d order either beer again, with my preference being the Irish Red.

The brown ale is a quality brew as well. I heard their english pale ale and "southern blonde" ale are going to be sold in bottles in local stores/restaurants.

I had Diamond Bear Munich Lager (Helles, I presume) at Vino's in LR several months ago. It was very well made. I recommend that you ask for Diamond Bear Beer when in Little Rock. If the restaurant does not carry it, tell them to contact the brewery.

New Microbrewery with quality beers available in area bars/restaurants. They give tours every Sat. at noon with samples to taste after. The brewer, John Templet, started at Mendocino Brewing Company in Northern California and brought his skills to Arkansas. He really makes some great products. You need to check it out!
