Stopped by Gooski's in the daylight for the first time...ever, and was not disappointed. They had East End's Big Hop Harvest on (fresh hop ale, wow), it was beautiful. The place was actually kinda clean, it scared me. Gooski's rules; if you ain't been there, you ain't been drinking in Pittsburgh.

Saturday nights are hoping at Gooski's. Local live bands play back in the pool table area. Shoulder to shoulder alternative crowd coupled with very good micro and import selection on tap and in the coolers.
This place gets better with age. A must see for those who love a good alternative music jukebox including The Clash and Dead Kennedys.

If you like dark and smoky, this is your place. Excellent beer selection, great pricing. Can get a bit crowded and hard to get service, but they do their best. You'll probably get lung cancer from breathing in here, but then you likely weren't coming out for health benefits of beer. A hidden hip place.

Located in the armpit of Pittsburgh, Gooski's will leave stress-free stains all over your shirt. If you can smile & shove your way to the bar, pints of Straub are $2. No need to bring your smokes, just let it out and breathe it in. The jukebox is all juiced up and the bands will make your ears ring for days. Bar keep Tim will get you a another beer before you finish the one in your hand. And the more you drink, the bigger Louie's afro gets. Gooski's is where the hipsters of Pittsburgh and other cities clash and end up licking each other by the end of the night. You go home smelling like a pile of gooski sh*t, but damn was it fun.

Pittsburgh has a number of these little neighborhood bars - Sidelines, Rivertowne Inn, etc - that pack an unexpected assortment of beers on tap and in bottles. Gooski's is small, dark and, when I went, very smoky. But the beer selection is very good and the prices are reasonable. They were out of 75% of the Polish food offerings but their wings were excellent.
The jukebox was under repair so I cannot comment on the tunes. Another great thing about Gooski's is its proximity to downtown and the strip district, which makes it easily accessible.

By far the best jukebox in pgh covering several genres and generations. Diverse beer at great prices. Triples, dubbles, belgiums, german, czech, penna micros, you name it. It is indeed a place where good friends meet.

Kick ass Juke!! Great little pool room in the back too. Tim has to be the coolest and most helpful bartender I've met in any city!! I am already planning another trip soon. Cheers!

Found Gooski's late one Friday night, and it impressed the hell out of me. I'm not usually one to rate on price, but...$2.50 pints of HopDevil in Pittsburgh has got to be mentioned. Great jukebox, great staff, great crowd...weird look, it all adds up to a place that should be a lot better known than it is.

Rock solid bar with one of the best jukes in pixsburgh. not a vast selection of beers but always one or two good chioces. the crowd is a combination of bar flies, convicted felons and goth/punk types which is just how i like it. As with all serious bars, you'll smell like a pack of butts when you leave. Not as smooth a joint as Kelly's or as good a selection as sharp edge or fat heads but its my number one choice for getting blind drink late-late at night.

Gooski's is one of those long-standing neighborhood bars that has character that can't be manufactured. The mix of the neighborhood locals and city fans, the dark atmosphere, the well worn booths and the friendly feeling can't be beat. We sat down on a random Sunday and joined with others watching the Simpsons. The beer selection was decent -- not to be expected for a neighborhood watering hole. This place is great if you want an unpretentious place to stop and have a drink. I hear they have a good mix of local bands as well.

ONE OF THE MOST INTEGRAL, AND MOST ROCKING BARRS IN PITTSBURGH. A BEST-KEPT SECREAT!!! Gooskies is part of Pittsburgh independent music heritage. It has amazing character. Cheep, good beers (barley-wines, lagers, micro..), a nice microbrew selection. When you walk in you feel like you just entered a Quinton Tarenteno movie. The bar is sparsely lit and the pool tables aren’t abused. The jukebox is legendary. On Fridays and Saturdays, local and domestic bands hard rock bands display their talent, attracting a different crowd. Its a tough no gimmick bar that is sure to impress any-one who has a problem with a top 40 radio station. A must see and experience for subversive music lovers and subversive drink lovers. It's not the prettiest place, but it is the coolest.

Great little place tucked away on a hillside (where else would it be in Pittsburgh) in the Polish Hill section of the city. For such a small "dive" bar type of place I was truly impressed with the selection and the bartender.

this is a hidden gem. If you like the neighborhood bars that feel gritty but don't get you dirty, this is the place for you. The interior screams of yester-year, while the beer selection has a good number of micros both in bottles and on tap. The bartender was quite attentative and local speak well of his memory and conversation.
Nothing artificial or high glossed here. This place is what more bars should be.
