Great atmosphere and the beer is outstanding. I’m surprised to hear some people complain about the service since we always have great service there. We stopped in for their winter solstice and the place was jammed packed. We had 6 couples with us and were standing in a corner hoping to get a table. There was a folding table near us that had a bunch of stuff on it and one of the owners came by and cleared off the table for us. He then fought through the mass of people to bring us folding chairs. Shows that they really know how to run a business and take care of their customers.

With the recent expansion, they seem to have lost some of the local bar ambience they had before. I know they don't want to be a sports bar but that new large brick wall is screaming for a large HDTV. The little one tucked around the corner of the new bar. That being said, the beer is great and consistent. Parties are worth a trip.

I love, love, love this pub. We began going once in a great while when my husband started buying wine making supplies. Neither of us is a tavern-aholic, any more, so we don't go to any tavern often. When we want to, though, this is our favorite place. The Ginger Ale (my personal favorite) is tart and tangy and goes down so well.

Probably the most authentic German microbrewery in Detroit. Clean and laid back, people are relaxed, the beer is fantastic, and the food tasty and simple...They are doing an extension to the brewery now, so don't expect to wait for a spot, at least for the time being:) They serve over two dozen different beers! Seriously, if you're coming to Detroit and wanna have some excellent crafted beer, do not miss this one.

WOW! This place came highly recommended, so we were really looking forward to the place. The pub’s not bad and in the midst of what I hope is an expansion, as only half of it has a ceiling, lights, and real furniture. This place doesn’t have a kitchen and encourages you to bring your own food, while you’re at it, bring your own beer as well. Maybe we caught you on a bad day. The American IPA was marginal. The Loonie Kuhnie Ale, Belgian Wit, and the Lambic was just BAD BAD BEER. AND the STAFF is EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

Looked forward to stopping here as I had tried their beer at a fest a while ago. 8 on tap, decent variety of styles. Was kind of bummed when a local said, "you hit them on a bad day, sometimes their selection is unbelievable". Well, what they did have was pretty good anyhow. Banana Stout unique but very good. Banana subtle. Simcoe Silly good, fruity. Dark Abbey pretty intense, nutty, bready, fruity. Can't wait for my next visit!

I went in on a whim to pick up some homebrew supplies and have now made it a tradition to pick up a growler for my brew days. The IPA was great and so was the Pale Ale.

Beer is terrific. On the rare ocassions they have cask conditioned ales, the beer is simply unbelieveble. The food is very limited, but the oven baked wings are excellent and I hear the pizza is very good.
I'll disagree about the servers, though. They are consistently slow and not particularly friendly. Maybe it is different for the daily patrons, but for someone who comes in once or twice a quarter, the service is pretty weak and not that pleasant.

These guys know how to brew beer and run a business at the same time - what a concept! Beer are consistently fine but pricey for less than pint quantities. You can bring in your own food which is absolutely great. The staff is helpful and also nice to look at. Their parties are a blast!

Always great beer and new ones to try. Wine is also excellent. Very friendly staff and owners are more than willing to talk to you about their brews and give advice. If you like micro-brews, Kuhnhenn's is a MUST!!

Put this one on your list. Great beer, great atmosphere. They don't have a full menu, but they do have snacks, just in case...
Definately a fun place to spend a Saturday afternoon.

For a micro very thin beer. Some of the beer tasted like it was brewed or stored in the same fermenters as the wine.

Of the three local breweries that are near to me this is the one I go to at least once a week. I might not like every style of beer they have but I do enjoy the majority of them. the lastest beer the octorberfest is one of the best octoberfest beers I have had

This is a very strange place. On my first visit, I found a couple tasty brews. The next time I visited, their beer menu was completely different and I couldn't find anything worth drinking (which is rare for me). I think the brewers like to try many different styles of beer here and are not interested in having any regular brews. I wish I could recommend this place but its inconsistency keeps me from doing so.

My wife and I were thoroughly impressed by not only the selection and quality, but the willingness of the brewmaster to share secrets, and know how. Their home batch wines are excellent, and both of the Belgian recipes were fantastic, and I was very, very impressed by the sampler, which included 9 5 oz. glasses. Not a bar atmosphere ( no loud music, smoke or dancing), but that's why I liked it. No food ( except for nuts and chips), but I didn't come here to eat, so that was just fine. Emphasis on quality and on educating the staff. If you like wine try the Port, or if you like desert wines the Green Apple riesling. I'll be back to take some brewing and winemaking classes. Check it out, great spot to enjoy great brews, and good company.

First visit was on a Thursday early evening. Sat at bar and was made welcome. Excellent selection of different beer styles and the ones I tried seemed very well done. Shall have to return to try the rest!
