Food was good. I had the Alt beer, which was good. Followed it with a pils, which was so bad I couldn't drink it. Hopefully, it was just a dirty line or something.

"Tooler's" weiss 6/10, where 10 is best. Six brews on tap, brewed on premises.

Hmm. A strange day at the Herk. We stopped in on Memorial Day and it turned out to be happy hour as well. The down side is that they don't offer samplers of their beers and it was 2 for 1 so I automatically got an extra Kolsch. Normally I wouldn't complain about an extra beer but I wanted to try a couple of styles. I also wanted to try the sweet potato fries so ordered an appetizer and the waitress suggested that I just get them with the Herkiburger. Food came out with ordinary fries. The food was good. The Kolsch was good. Service wound being a bit strange with the order getting goofed up and another waitress seemed to be helping with our table and about 75% of the tables. I'll try again.

On top of the great beer / food / ambiance....they have this new shuffleboard league that I've been trying to get into. Hard to do - pretty pouplar with the locals. Great Burgers. I loved the sweet potato fries and the Herkimer "Cubans"!

It's a bit difficult to describe the beers. They all seem to lack flavor. Certainly, a major improvement over standard bar fare, but in comparison to Town Hall, a bit paltry.

They have a great brew selection of about 15 but only 6 at a time. The BLT with chitipole mayo was very good. Bread was not over-toasted.

I love the Herkimer - I especially love the Red Flyer - I would especially love a bigger patio - I would even more especially love warm weather to be able to enjoy the patio right now. Oh - and the people who frequent the Herk are very cool. I dig this bar.

I really enjoyed the Handy's lager - light - crisp. For a heartier, winter beer try the Alt. I'm hoping they make the Dunkleweiss again this year - my favorite winter beer of all time!

If anybody out there knows anything about German styled lagers - they are a less carbonated brew - if it's bubbles you're after (Tom) Perhaps a fine bottle of $2.- sparkling pink champagne is more your style. The Herk does it right and the atomsphere there ROCKS!

The Herkimer has made great strides in being a more consistent and enjoyable place. As a regular there for 2 years now, the efforts of the management is very prevelant. ALWAYS at least 6 beers on tap - 7 days a week. A new killer menu that shreds the term "bar food" and turns it into a selection from stuffed pork chops and several different cuts of meats. I know that they've stumbled in the past but now the place is always busy and it's time to take the Herk for another spin!

I have drank a lot of beer in this world and I think that the herkimer has descent beer, the Kölsch style is the best, the alt and dortmunder is good too, some of the other ones are ok (they try to hard)other than that killer jutbox, eye candy is everywhere and it is always busy.

Fairly decent ambiance; but only one or two beer selections, neither of which are very good. Food is terrible and very small portions.

Sorry guys, but the beer is no good. I came in search of German lagers, but found only one on tap, and even that one was brewed with corn! The other two selections on tap were poor imitations of German ales: Alt and Dunkelweiss. No foam retention despite the nitrogen tap system. How can a guy with such great brewing equipment make lousy beer? I guess he has to try real hard.

The first time I visited was about two years ago, and ad a wonderful experience. Things have taken an unfortunate downhill slide. The only saving grace were the rad waitresses with countless tattoos, body piercings, and bodies that would not quit! Go for the eye candy, the beer takes a backseat.
