Beer Quality Beer Selection Food Service Overall
Great Great N/A N/A Great
This establishment is a true brewery - they do not even really have a tasting room, but the beer they produce is available at numerous locations in Oregon (especially Portland). Daniel Bragdon (brewmaster and owner) along with his wife Antionette (both huge Ozzy fans - hence the origin of the brewery's name, even though it is an easy throw to railroad tracks) are creating some very drinkable beers, in their converted meat packing building. I was able to try the De Rail Ale (a pale golden) and the Coal Porter (a Porter) - both were very clean and refreashing, with the Porter being slightly better with a terrific roasted quality in the aroma but was light on the palate with a mild roasted quality. The De Rail was slightly sweat with very mild hop finish. If you find yourself in Portland - look for "Off the Rail". Other varieties that are produced are - Hop Dogg IPA, Off the Rail IPA, Sweet Leaf Amber, and Blizzard of Ozz Winter Ale and an Ozz Fest Spring Ale (both seasonal).
