Former dive on a desolate section of North 4th St. Attracts the nearby younger Italian Village crowd, who are improving the formerly downtrodden neighborhood. Several micros on tap with reasonable prices. Don't judge on outside appearances, much more inviting inside, with rough hewn wood panel walls, a comfortable wood bar, and freindly owners. Good jukebox featuring alt rock bands & a back room with pool table. No kitchen, so eat before you come. Upstairs area with small bar (no draft) which has featured local artists works, & sometimes local bands, but space is limited, and watch those stairs after a few. Recommended, a good beer bar with a nice artsy/divey mix that seems to be gaining popularity.

I really enjoy going to St. James especially during the week when it is a little laid back. My brother introduced me to the place and has become my favorite bar in town. I have not made it there when a band is playing but when I get a chance I will be sure to do so.

Nothing like great beer to complement the best live music in town! A neighborhood bar that makes you proud to be in Columbus, great jukebox, great upstairs live music, great people.

The few occasions I have gone here I have had a great time. Though more like a campus-type bar with some good beer on tap(Ohio State University is just up the road)this is still a great place to go to hang out with a young, hip crowd and play pool or listen to live music.
The bar is laid out well with lots of different rooms and an upstairs.*NOTE- It does get loud in here. This is not a place to get a pint and have a conversation with your buddies in the corner booth. This is a rockin place with good beer.
