Erica is by far the rudest bartender ever, its a wonder she has a job there @ all. other than that everything about this place is awesome...its your average hole in the wall bar with good people from a working class background. The entertainment is extremely caried from reggae to 60's 90's rock, blue grass and even some rockabilly from time to time,in all my years of going there its always felt like a home away from home. The only downside is when it is packed in there u can barely move and sometimes the drinks are pricey copared to other bars in the area,

This place is great if you like heavy cigarette smoke in a confined area of 30 people max stuffed into the pub and they don’t serve food so not sure why people are rating that on here. Bartenders are at many times rude unless maybe you go in there all the time and spend a lot of money. I have been there several times over the years mainly to see a band that maybe playing for some kind of entertainment. Micky Joe has been nice at time and rude on other occasions, the semi-heavy set black bartender guy with the dreads has always been rude and made an effort at it even at Gas Knob too. Ralph seems like an ok guy whom I have met outside the pub but his cronies need an evaluation in customer service. Not trying to sound like whiner, but if I am going to spend my money to enjoy a Guinness somewhere it will most likely not be here anymore. There are 3 better Irish Pubs at the beaches area which I would rather go to any day…

I visited the Fly's Tie Irish Pub when I was on holiday from Ireland on July 05 and I have to say the main thing that struck me about the pub was the very witty, intelligent, funny and good looking barman by the name of Micky Doherty he is definitley the heart and soul of this place!

frequenting the fly's tie, I have noticed, that I have been short changed four of five times. And that is the reason I do not frequent the place anymore! And I certainly would advise not to run a tab.

I am the girl that was barred from Fly's Tie. I was told one evening not to return. It may be because I wrote on the women's restroom door. Or it may be because several men bought me drinks and I refused their advances. Or it may be because my former boyfriend goes there and doesn't want me there - Whatever the reason I was barred and I have been terribly upset about it. I don't understand what would make an owner of a bar tell someone they can no longer enter their establishment without knowing all the facts. Fact 1.) My former boyfriend who I met at Lynch's and dated for 6 months is not who he protrays himself to be to the public - fact he served time in a Turkish Prison in his early 20's for Man Slaughter related to Drug Trafficing - 2.) Since dating this man and uncovering all this stuff, I now choose the men I date very carefully - MONEY means nothing to me - in fact the man I am dating now is just an average guy. 3.) I met the man I am dating now at Fly's Tie one week before I was barred. hehehe (That night I was accused of being a flirt and trying to get men to buy me drinks) Guess what - the man I left with and whom I now date didn't even have his wallet on him that night - the whole evening he never bought me one drink - we just talked. And we have been together every single day since then. Moral of the story: No one should judge another human being based on their sex, race or religion - Just the facts please.

You may find it hard to believe, but that is the case and that is exactly what happened! You can ask any regular in there and you will find out it is true. That woman, happens to be a very kind person and her only fault according to fly's tie was 1.) having a rich ex-boyfriend who frequents the place and doesn't want her there and 2.) Men buying her drinks and the bar staff got pissed about it. By all means continue going, but attractive females should beware that the bar staff will never back them up if a man gets out of line, especially if he is rich!!!!

I have really enjoyed every visit to the Fly's Tie, and see no reason not to go back. Something tells me there is more to the banisment story told in November 21st review. I don't quite believe that the only thing that woman did was except a drink and then not date a guy and then get bannished, seems a bit hard to believe to me. I will continue to visit the Fly's Tie, as I find it to be an upstanding location, with a seemingly strong understanding of the social norm.

I agree - It seems that Fly's Tie caters to the rich men and can care less about their female patrons!!!!!

I feel that the if someone is running a bar they should expect that an attractive female will have several men approach her and offer to buy her drinks. After all, a bar is a place where people meet and talk. But just because a man buys a woman a drink it should not mean that the woman is obligated to the man. They just met and it is a bar. If a man wants to buy a drink for a woman, it should not be a case where the woman is banished from the establishment, and what happened to my friend.

Given the lack of hand-crafted beers to be had in the Jacksonville area, I used PubCrawler to determine were to stay while in town for the Gator Bowl. So my friends and I made our way to the Fly's Tie in Atlantic Beach, east of the city. What a great surprise. The taps covered all the Irish basics (except for Beamish). And they served Yuengling for the stout-challenged. We made it to their New Year's Eve party and if the buffet they served is any indication of what the kitchen can do, you'll not want for tasty food. (Party) hat's off to Kurt, Mickey, and Colin and the rest of the friendly staff. We could only visit one night, but since we got there at 8:30 and stayed until 2 (closing), you might say it's worth the trip!
PS: Bring your darts.
