We stopped here after a long walk looking at all the beautiful homes in the Garden District. It was a warm day in March and what a nice oasis! They had a nice range of beers on tap, including a few unusual ones like Schneider Weiss. It's a two story pub with an outdoor balcony on the second level. Very nice on a warm day. Happy hour extends to 10pm here! $3 pints. The Anchor Liberty was good. We even had a pint of Chimay White for only $5! Definitely recommended if you are in the Garden District.

Music was very loud, there were only 4 people in the bar. The selection was large, but not different than could be found at Cooter Brown's or The Bulldog. Atmosphere had something to be desired. I had a pete's strawberry blonde that was very aged and had gone sour. My wife had an Abita Purple Haze that was fresh. Since we could get the same beer elsewhere, we left after having only one each. If you are in the area, skip this one and go across the street to the Bulldog.

The Balcony Bar and Cafe has improved considerably since my last visit. It has always had many taps, I counted 50 this time. In the past many were devoted to cheap mass market beers, albeit ones not usually found on tap. Now they have a good selection of craft and imported beers and ciders. There were four Woodchuck Ciders, including the Granny Pippin and the Perry. Beers included the new local Big Easy, the Abita beers including Andygator, and plenty of national and foreign drafts. The decoration includes a collection of large beer mirrors. Definitely worth a stop, especially as it is only two blocks from the Bulldog. Between them even the most enthusiastic beer drinker will not run out of brews to try.
