For me, the whole of this Two Rows location is better than the sum of its parts. I'm not sure how to explain that. I think their beers are good, but not great. My favorite recently has been Dos Rows, which is like a tastier version of Dos Equis. The selection changes from time to time, so each visit can be different from the last. The previous reviewer complained of a lack of porters or stouts, but the Barking Fish Porter is currently available. I'd say it is pretty good, but I am not an expert on porters. Of the six beers currently on tap, I don't think any of them are bad.
I have had great experiences with their food. My friends, on the other hand... we'll get to that. I ordered their blue cheese chips, which were excellent. Sweet, homemade-style potato chips generously topped with blue cheese. I also had their fish tacos, which were made with real tilapia, not fish sticks like some places will do. The fish was tender and tasty, and the tacos were very good. But my friends ordered a steak and a tuna dish, both of which were vastly undercooked. The steak, ordered medium, was bloody. And the tuna had a huge pink streak through the middle. It looked like it was half raw, half cooked. This may be the latest way to capitalize on the sushi craze, but everybody at the table agreed it looked hazardous to eat.
On my two visits, I have been disappointed with the bartenders. One was grumpy and apathetic, the other was distracted and unprofessional. The waitress who served us when we moved to a table was nice, however.
If you add it all up, I should probably be ambivalent about Two Rows at best. But despite less than exceptional beer, some questionable food experiences and disappointing service at times, I really like the place. Maybe they release happiness pheromones through the air conditioning. Maybe the gigantic TVs are hypnotic. I don't know. But I do know I'll go back.
On a ten scale, I'll give Two Rows a 7.

Typical of a chain brewpub--several styles of absolutely mediocre beer, none of them a porter or stout. The food selection is reminiscent of Chili's, for better or worse--none of it bad, none of it exciting. It was busy when we visited, but the staff were friendly and efficient.
The interior is clean and inviting. If you want an authentic brewpub, this isn't the place. If you want a pretty good meal or a pretty good beer, it's a pretty good place. Beats drinking Rolling Rock at Applebees.

I visited this brewpub on June 3, 2005 and had the following brews; Honey Blonde Light, Osage Golden Wheat, Old Town Hefewiezen, White Rock Bock, 100th Anniversary, Route 66 Amber Ale, and Oatmeal Stout. This chain brewpub is consistent with their beers and atmosphere. Their beers are generaly within tolerance of their style but generally lack the fullness and body I come to expect from a "Great" brewpub.

This is a beautiful new facility, and I'm sure that the quality will improve. The Honey Blonde Light was refreshing on a very warm day and had a sweet aftertaste. The Piledriver Pale Ale was passable. My Beef Enchalitas were good but nothing to write home about. The waitress was very nice but didn't know much about the beers.

I was excited when Two Rows opened up on the Tollway, as it was a relatively short distance from my house and I looked forward to having a "local" to call my own. Unfortunately, I have been deeply disappointed with the beer. The word that comes to mind is "insipid": it's almost as if they're trying to keep the malt, and especially the hops, bill as low as they can.
I realize there are a lot of Miller Lite types to be catered to, but you'd think they'd at least make an effort. I understand they have some kind of hoppier brew called "Hopzilla", but it's never, ever been available when I was there.
I do go for dollar Wednesdays but that's just because I'm cheap, and I keep hoping they'll improve their beer. So far, they haven't.
Food is basic decent pub grub.

Because I love brewpubs, I'm reluctant to write bad reviews, so this should be taken by Two Rows as constructive criticism. I've been going to Two Rows for about four years when I get to Dallas, first at the one on Greenville Avenue, which has an agreeable atmosphere and decent beer and food, except they were always "out" of porter when I went. Then I began going to the one on the North Tollway, which is closer to my son's house. The selection is always limited, and I always opted for the Route 66 amber because they had no browns or porters when I went. The worst thing about the place is the noise in the bar, which makes conversation all but impossible. It's a sports bar, and the volume is far too high, so we learned to sit in the restaurant so we could talk. Unfortunately, then it takes forever to get your beer, so we would go to the bar to get our beer over the counter, then carry it into the restaurant. My last trip was Dec. 22, the night before my other son's wedding. They had a red ale as a seasonal, and I tried it instead of the amber; it wasn't bad. My daughter ordered an amber from the waiter, and after about 10 minutes a glass of red ale arrived. I took it back to the bar to exchange it for the amber so as not to wait another 10 minutes, and lo and behold the amber was the same color! The bartender insisted they were different. I took my daughter's beer back to her and we tried each other's red and amber. If there was any difference, it was undetectable to us or to my son. I've had the amber there many times, and it's, well, amber, not red. This was coppery. Once a restaurant tried to pass off a catfish filet to me as rainbow trout. My reaction was the same. Don't try to con me, I like both and I know what both are supposed to taste like. Then one son and my daughter ordered tortilla soup. When it finally arrived, it was, again, not tortilla soup at all. It can best be described as watered down nacho cheese. It was so dreadful, they sent it back and got tomato basil, which was to their liking. They also ordered the ahi tuna, which my daughter said was "awesome." My favorite dish at Two Rows is the blue corn chimayo. I also had a porter this trip, finally, and I must say it was flat. There was very little head and scant maltiness. They have $1 pint nights on Wednesdays; these were not worth $1. We had a much more agreeable experience the following night right after the wedding reception, which fortuitously was just half a block from BJ's, just down the tollway from Two Rows on Belt Line Road (see separate review). My advice to Two Rows is to put some life into your porter, to stop pawning off red and amber ales as different when they obviously are not, and to either change the name to nacho cheese soup or find someone who knows how to make real tortilla soup. I might expect a subterfuge like that in New York, where patrons don't know any better, but not in Texas! Another criticism: Two Rows is one of the growing number of brewpubs that permits cigarette smoking at the bar but not cigar smoking. Ludicrous! They say people complain about cigar smoke. Well, I don't like cigarette smoke, so ban it, too, so I won't be unhappy!

Not too different than the Dallas Two Rows, this location gets busy during peak hours and offers discounted beers some days of the week. Growlers available, but they don't like to fill growlers other than their own. The seasonal just going off tap is a rare and potent Dunkelweizen Doppelbock. Few other brewpubs attempt this style. The spiced winter ale was not great, but other house beers are quite good. The regular hefeweizen is popular.
