James Joyce has taken some crucial steps toward returning to their pub roots by returning to their menu some traditional items. On occasion you can even find the amazing panko fried chicken on the menu, but only as a daily special.

James Joyce was a really great place for beer and pub food, until a few weeks ago. They removed all of their great dishes (Panko Fried Chicken, Irish Stew and other Irish favorites) and replaced them with "new American" cuisine" sort of offerings, the stuff you can get any place. There are loads of other establishments around the Decatur area that offer great beer AND fabulous food. I'll not return to James Joyce, unless I hear that they've restored their menu.

The ambiance and location are the only saving graces of this business. The quality of the food is REMARKABLY bad. Of note the prices are in the moderate range however, one feels cheated by the blandness, and completely unsatisfactory quality of the food even when compared to establishments aspiring to be called pubs.

Real Irish pub because it is run by the Irish. Plus an english-person or two. Great atmosphere because it reminds you of a real pub! I had the Beamish which is a cross between Guiness and Murphys. Not as bitter as Guiness and smoother. Rock exterior, wood interior and friendly people in a cool and upcoming part of town.

The usual pub-grub but now a fantastic restaurant with a new chef. Patrons range from college-types to retired-types like myself. Over 25 brands on draft obviously featuring Irish beer/whiskey. Great brunch on Sunday.
