They offered 9 different beers on tap, from a light lager to oatmeal stout. I had the oatmeal stout which was good, it had decent flavor. The location is tremendous, located in a renovated building along the Mississippi River and you have a great view of the river and the rebuilt old Fort Madison. After dinner enjoy a walk along the river. Great location. When I was there 9/24/08 they accepted cash and checks only!!!! So be aware before ordering. They will give you directions to the closest ATM.

I have been to at least 20 brew pubs and this one won't stay on my list. All of the beers from light to dark, whatever flavor, all had the same very smokey aftertaste. Because of that, they all tasted the same. The service was bad, too. We couldn't even get someone to get us a second round and decided it wasn't worth it and left.

My wife and I went there to eat and enjoy a few beers after golfing. I must say the beer was simply amazing. The service is the best I've seen at a brew pub. I traveled from southern wisconsin and I'd make the trip again just for the beer and the food. PBaker

The review written about the Lost Duck Brewery on 11/17/2006 was written by my former wife. The review does not reflect my opinion or beliefs in any way either about that establishment or who I am as a person. Randy Soland 04/17/08

My wife and I go to the Lost Duck whenever we are in the area. The beer is fantastic. The waitresses are friendly and cute. Everyone can be relaxed and get to know each other. The view of the Mississippi is awesome. I would also recommend staying an the nearby Kingsley Inn and having dinner at the Alpha restaurant. You will truly enjoy this threesome combination. Randy

Being thirsty on my way from St Louis to Des Moines, a quick PubCrawler check showed up the Lost Duck along my route. The beer was good and my wife and son though the root beer was excellent. The pub is easy to find and has a terrific view of the river and the rebuilt old fort. Definitely worth the stop.

Easily the best place in town for a quality beer. Coupled with the atmosphere and the people, it is a great place to wile away a few hours. Tim Benson's (the owner) passion for both beer and people really comes through

Good beer in Fort Madison? I always thought of Fort Madison as the kind of town where they serve "both kinds" of beer--swill and swill light. This small, cozy place sits facing the Missisippi River so you have a pleasant view as you knock back a few pints. I found both the pale and the nut brown had just a hint of smokiness and the oatmeal stout made a wonderful dessert beer. The menu is fairly small, but try the outstanding jambalaya.
