My favorite bar. Just wish it was closer. The staff always allows a few samples of their great draft selection. They are always open with one of the longest happy hours around; 12 - 7 even on weekends! THe clientelle is friendly and all seem to share a passion for one of god's greatest gifts; BEER! You are welcome to bring in any food you wish, as they have no kitchen. Friendly staff that remembers your name, clean, and they know how to pour the liquid. My only suggestion is that they would start SELLING growler containers, as they have them hangin all over the wall. They will fill a growler of your favorite to go at a reasonable price. Just a great place with a comfortable, home-like feel.

Hop heaven, was there a couple weeks ago, including Sierra Nevada celebration, and Simco by Anderson valley. It was hard to finish Simco without glasses of water and diluting it with Winter storm. An excellent hop voyage. Fresh beer, good service, and he (not john) kept the bar so clean. And some friendly locals to chat with, about blaming violence on games, I've never dropped an anvil on anyone, painted the garage door to make it look open, or ate a single tweety bird, because of watching violent cartoons. Cheers ...

Huge beer selection for a small corner bar in Canton. 30+ micro bottles plus 10 taps. This joint always has something new. Bartender Greg knows a lot about beer and helps you make a selction that sends your taste buds dancing. I heard he was a brewer at several places around town. The service is awesome, very personalized and prompt...the crowd is lively....and everybody is always having a great time. Canton's best kept secret!

Stopped here a couple of weeks ago with my son. Wanted to see what the buzz was all about. I wish I had a corner bar like this where I live. Great micro tap selection & super service. When I was growing up in Baltimore this is what I thought a corner bar would be like - can't wait to go back & spend an afternoon.

From making way to many trips to Racer's Cafe through the years, I had wondered for some time what had happened to one of their great bartenders--John. Luckily, I checked out some Baltimore reviews to see that he had moved on to running his own bar. Stopping by for the first time, I was greeted by someone I hadn't seen for years like I was a regular customer. This, my friends, is what can make or break a place; a friendly attitude from someone who is versed in beers and beer quality in a comfortable location. Growlers features 10 taps, only one which is reserved for a national brand. There are 25 bottles to choose from, almost all of excellent quality. If you're into a good beer--nothing extreme, from a hard working, great guy, then this is the place for you.

Growlers is an awesome neighborhood joint just seconds from my house. Beer prices are much cheaper than the Square. The 10 taps rotate on a regular basis so I get a chance to try new things. The beer is always fresh. I have found a new favorite to feast on...Victory Prima Pils. John, the owner, is quite knowledgable about beer and the regional breweries. It is a freindly place to meet new people and a good setting to meet up with old friends.

Small corner bar that is big on beer. Great beer on draft, small but stellar selection of bottles, open seats, and Marty, the bartender. Victory Pils, Lacaster Winter Warmer, Otter Creek, Guinness, Boddingtons, and some others on draft. First timer, but I'll be back soon.

Had an excellent christmas beer selection for early Nov. a choice of Sierran Nevada celebration, and Clay pipe persuite of happiness. The Persuite of Happiness had a fart like smell to it, I could bearly make myself drink half of the pint, complaining the whole time, The bartender (not john) said he does no drink the beers. I leaft the pint, and will not drink without john there.

Went last sunday by reccomendation of pubcrawler, It was great to see John and have him recognise me from Racers. I will now call racers the place where "nobody knows your name". I've been drinking at racers saturday afternoons for 8 years and nobody ever said "Hi Pat". I will continue to drink at Growlers and keep up postings. It was a Pale ale heaven 6 of them. Had "River" something pale ale made by dominion John said it was the hoppiest of them all, hoppier than hop pocket.
Fresh and bright tasting. Thanks John for a great time.
Now fix the juke so I can crank up the Hendrix. And get jerkey.

Since stumbling in the door one evening, it seems that I never left. Growler's is the bar I have been searching for my entire life. The beers on tap are always worth drinking, the atmosphere is unpretentious, and there is always a seat at the bar. Fells and the Square are always too crowded, and filled with idiots during peak drinking hours. Growler's is a godsend withing walking distance!

This is, by far, my new favorite taphouse in Baltimore. Friendly and knowledgeable server and some of the nicest selections of malt beverages around. Check it out, and be nice to Marty.

Having 10 taps, with an assortment of Belgian Beers and microbrews, we can always find what we are looking for at Growler's Pub. They also have one of the best Happy Hours in town, everyday from 2-8.

Quite the change from the typical Baltimore "corner" bar. This small corner pub has a great beer selection with 10 beers on tap that continually rotate. Can find out what is on tap by visiting their website at www.growlerspubcanton.com. Also selection of bottles is growing. Owner John Bates is very friendly and is almost always around to talk with. He is very knowledgable about beer and blues(which is alwaysplaying). Many evenings you can find his wife Kristen socializing with the customers and making sure everyone is having a good time!! Her smile and conservation is always worth a trip back.
This new find seems to be catching on beacuase each visit back there are more and more people there. This cozy pub is clean and a great alternative to Canton Square. Cleanest bathrooms in town. This neighborhood is in for a nice treat with the addition of Growlers.
A must visit for beer and blues lovers.

Small, intimate pub, not much more than the pool table, a couple little tables, the bar, and the beer. Two nitro taps, eight CO2 taps, and a couple bottles. (Although, inexplicably, they have a couple Belgian glasses, if not the beer to go in them). I'm told some kind of food source is planned. The place isn't "there" yet, but give it a chance and I think it'll do quite well. Should be a nice respite from overcrowded Fells Point places on weekends.

Pushing the geographical boundaries of good beer in Bawlmer, a new beer-friendly bar - Growlers Pub - has staked a claim in blue-collar northern Canton. If you've been to Baltimore's Racer's Cafe within the last 15 1/2 years, you may have noticed one constant - bartender John Bates. John began at this northern Baltimore beer destination (and it's still there, thriving) back in the heady days of the late '80s. Difficult to overlook behind the bar, he was the gentle giant, always informative about the goings-on of the the nascent and burgeoning local beer scene, and always a calming presence in the kettle. But past tense is inappropriate. John and his charming fiance, Kristen, have recently set up shop in a place of their own. They rehabbed an old neighborhood Patterson Park bar, rechristened it as Growlers Pub, and began serving at the end of February. There were two taps that day- Sierra Nevada and DeGroens Pils. Since then, they've installed a sparkling new 10-tap system. Now there's Guinness, Dominion Oak Barrel Stout, Anchor Liberty, Olivers Irish Red, Clipper City Small Craft Warning, Sierra Nevada Pale, Victory Hop Devil, Brewer's Art Resurrection, and Dogfish Head Indian Brown. Many of the selections change weekly. On the 10th tap is a, well, N.A.I.L., North American Industrial Lager. John hopes to wean the long-time locals off of it. Bottles include Belgians and, of course, Natty Boh, hon. There's no food as of yet, but John has plans to get the kitchen going by mid-summer. There's a pool table in the back section. Hours are 2-2 every day. You'll find the pub one block south of Patterson Park at Potomac and Fleet Streets.
