Busy, fun and great staff.I dont know who the tools are that dont like this place but they obviously have an axe to grind.This place was packed and is always crowded when I go there. I have never had a problem and the food is great.

This place is like going home, I found everything I wanted in this bar.The food was very good and the staff was attentive.The bartender,Christina was also telling me they are adding 6 more taps, a total of 22.I will be back.

So many better place then this DUMP!!! I have found nicer public bathrooms then so called bar. Check out Hard Times Cafe sooo much better!
AVOIDE THE barking DUMP!!!

This place is a dump, the service horrible(bouncers there have Napoleon complexs)and the music is even worst. They are under the impression that if the have a no hat policy that that will some how make the place classier. What a joke of a place. There are so many better places to eat and hang out in Bethesda so dont waste your time there and avoid at all costs.

The only reason I went to this bar was for a private party. Once the party ended a dress code kicked in and my boyfriend was tossed down stairs just for wearing a hat. One minute I seem him standing there minding his own business and the next minute the a**hole bouncer with a napolean complex is manhandling him. The Barking Dog is a sh*thole and the fact that they even have a dress code is laughable. The place is full of jerks!! Avoid this bar at all costs!

I have never had such a bad experience at a pub before. The Barking Dog is stuck-up, conceited and pretentious. The staff is offensive and impolite, the tap selection is pitiful at best, and the atmosphere is wholly unwelcoming. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I visited the Barking Dog (though thinking it was the "Thirsty Dog), which is more of a pick-up bar than a beer bar. The selection was good, though I didn't get an indication that beer was a priority. I had a Red Hook ESB; did not realize they offered Caffrey's - have not seen it in the states since Guinness bought Smithwick's. Still, the menu was extensive, although I did not go there to eat. It makes part of a good Bethesda pubcrawl - along with Rock Bottom, Union Jack and Ri-Ra, a nearby faux Irish pub.

Hop Pocket, Caffrey's, Redhook, Guinness among the tap selections. About a dozen seats at the bar, with a few tables also. Some of the interior looks a little worn, but comfortable atmosphere nonetheless.
