Lincoln Tap Room isn't trying to be an "ultimate beer bar" like, say, the Map Room or the Hop Leaf, so no need for beer snobs to come from all corners of the Earth. About 25 taps, none of them particularly unique to the area. Some Bell's, some Goose, Guinness/Harp/Bass, Miller Lite, Hoegaarden, etc. Bottle selection is about the same breadth and quality as the taps, though in deference to Chicago's emerging "revolt against beer snobbery" trend, they offer Pabst Blue Ribbon in bottles and Hamm's & Stroh's in cans(!). The atmosphere is best described as "laid-back urban hip" without being too clever for its own good like, say, Piece. That's hard to pull off so give 'em credit where it's due. It's a comfy hangout place, service is reasonably decent, the crowd a bit urban yuppie-ish (this is Lakeview, after all) and the beer selection can keep beer aficianados satisfied for a few hours while their friends drink mass-crap like most other patrons. More of a neighborhood bar than a "must-go" destination.
