It is sad to see Blob's close. I made great friends there and was treated like "a regular" at my first visit. There will never be another place like it, and I'll miss it terribly, along with the people, with whom I shared a fantastic tradition.

Blobs is closing after this holiday season. The 100 acres or so are being destroyed for more condos in a market awash in unsold real estate.
The owners are dying off and the "kids" no longer want to keep the place open....developers dumping millions at their feet didnt hurt either...shame on them. Why couldnt they keep the place open and put up the condos close by. The property is huge and could accomodate both with room to spare.
The Columbia Mall is a good example of smart growth putting condos on the parking lot which garentees a steady stream of local customers. Blobs could do the same thing. Sad news for Marylanders and many others. Progress? No Greed!

If you can get past the name, Blob's Park is a great German experience. You can't beat the price for a pitcher of German beer! Just remember to pay the desert lady seperate from your main tab!

The whole expereince is great. You spend your time being surrounded by everything German. Come on a night that the Eldewise band is playing their great.

A slice of Germany in the middle of Anne Arundel county, except that the beer and food don't match up to the real thing. They have a beer called Blobs Lager, made for them by Old Dominion, which is just okay. All the rest of the beers are imports, some local. Get the buffet, it's the best way to eat here. Food from the menu is delivered to your table cold. If there is a good band, and your mood is right, you can have a good time here - but don't go for the dining or drinking experience.
