Looked like a little dive, but my buddy and I had a great time here. Everyone was friendly, and we made two new friends (Hi to the Nurses from Hopkins!) Spent about two hours here chatting away, drinking beer, and reading all the great bumper stickers. Good time had by all, much better atmosphere than across the street with their numerous taps of sucky beer.

This is definitly a place that you should not miss while in Fells Point or the Inner Harbor. Food was sensational.....Mussels the very best.
Im retired Ny retired NY Det who was meeting some of my of my buddies who came down for a Hostage Negotiation Seminar.I looked up the place on PubCrawler and suggested that we give it a shot. The place was an absolute home run..........thanks for the info.

Bertha's is the real thing, some unchanged, uncluttered Baltimore, and you can live on their mussels and Guinness (though I was sopping them up with the house Best Bitter, done by Wharf Rat). Followed it with a piece of chess pie, very good. Only complaint: the bread that comes with the meal is lifeless! Mussels this good deserve better bread! Bertha's is a great bar, a classic. It's not too big, but it's for real.

Always a must-stop in Fells - has seen hard & good times. Eclectic set up & a nice spot to pass an afternoon with some food & drink. EAT BERTHA'S MUSSELS.

I Used to live in "Bawlmer Hon" and Berthas was my favorite place to hang out. Service was always great, you met an unusual array of folks there and the Hawk used to dance there several times a week. Sheeeyut, once I was even persuaded to pull beers on a saturday afernoon and had a blast. It's just small enuff, just dark enuff 'n jus' dingy enuff for a classic waterin' hole. Lario

One of the best places to go in Fell's point. Good seafood, and decent selection of beers on tap. Nice grungy little bar (a big plus, really) and restaurant in back. Not fancy, but it doesn't matter. Be sure to get a bumpersticker when you're there. Have entertained there several times, and a good time was had by all.

A favorite Fell's Point Haunt, Bertha's has managed that most difficult of tasks, catering to the essential tourist trade without turning off the locals. If you've seen the ubiquitous "Eat Bertha's Mussels" bumper sticker's then you know the fanatical loyalty this place inspires. The beer is okay, with the usual selection of local micros (we in Balto. are getting a bit spoiled). What's amazing is the food and service. The mussels are deservedly famous, served fresh, hot and steamy (no, I won't make that old joke) with a truly eclectic array of wonderful sauces. If you have any room left after the mussels, any of the seafood selections will do for an entree, but make sure to save room for dessert: the 200-year-old recipe for Chess Pie is an authentic slice of Colonial America. (It is nearly identical to pies I've made using a colonial recipe from another source gleaned during a school oral history project.) Bertha's is a must-stop when in Fell's Point.

I confess this is my favorite bar of all time. It's a bar with its own unique style, a place where people don't confuse drinking with merely getting drunk. One of the owners (Tony Norris) is a home-brewer and a certified beer geek. It's one of two places in Baltimore that you can get genuine cask-conditioned ale that tastes British (possibly because Tony's wife Laura is a Brit) They serve excellent bar food and the restaurant is famous for their mussels. Most nights there is an eclectic variety of live music. It is in the middle of Fell's Point, an area that if you love beer and good times you must visit if you're in Baltimore.
