A Syracuse institution. After a pretty long session at the Blue Tusk, we stopped by here to soak up a different vibe. Not counting the lunatic who was babbling this day about Frank Sinatra, wise guys and the like, you always get a good feeling just being here. Add in the great beers (loved the Middle Ages on cask) and good conversation and you've got a winner. Or was he talking about Nancy Sinatra?

Always a must stop for me when I'm in Syracuse. This afternoon I was very pleased to find the Stone 9 year anniversary IPA on tap....Delicious!! Several of the taps seem constant (Priors, Old Slugger, Genny Cream Ale and Middle Ages selections) while others are alway changing. You never know what they might suprise you with next. Bartenders are always very friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Menu is limited. Roast Beef sandwich is what this place is famous for. You can't go wrong with it..... Arby's IT AIN'T! My only complaint is that Clark's is not open on sundays. Great place!

We, also, love this place. For the friendliness of the bartenders - particularly A.J. - as well as the beer selection, and Darts games that the two of us continue to try to learn! Someday we'll get it right! We have learned so much from A.J. - he is the most knowledgeable person we know when it comes to finding out about this beer or that. He knows them all! A.J. decides what beers will be on tap and we trust his judgment when it comes to trying out a new beer. We particularly love the Middle Ages beers, but also love the beers from Stones. This is a great place to meet new and old friends.

Great place. It doesn't have the number of beers as the Blue Tusk, or maybe the extensive food menu of numerous places, but there's just something about Clark's that keeps you coming back. It's comfortable, quirky, honest and predictable--you know what you're in for before you get there--a good time! Lots of times there, I'll have a Prior Double Dark, which is a diamond in the rough, just a very nice beer. Oh, and of course the roast beef (horseradish was intense! it was much like getting religion, an awakening experience!) is a requirement as well. All true beer pilgrims should visit here.

I really like this place. Good selection at great prices. We got an order of sharp cheese and a roast beef sandwich. It was delicious. A nice, quiet pub and don't forget to play the ring game on the wall!

I can't argue with any of the previous positive comments. This is a great, authentic and unique place for anyone who loves beer or just likes to soak in a truly enjoyable atmosphere. "22 taps, One Sandwich" is what they advertise, but if you're lucky and your timing is good, you can also try the turkey sandwich from 11-2--it's great! I tried a Landmark India Red Ale, wow! What a great effort for a brewer's first product! If you're in Syracuse, you know you'll be in the Armory District, so be sure to stop in at Clark's.

The best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had at any price. Oh – the beer (?). I started with the Three Floyd’s IPA (one of the dozen or so taps) and it was a hop rush. Very fresh, and cheap! All of the bars in Syracuse seem to be very reasonable in their pricing (Albany is getting way out of control), and Clark’s is no exception. The bar staff here is astute and accommodating. Your empty glass does not sit on the bar for more than a mille-second before you are courteously prompted for your next desirous libation. Unfortunately for me, it was the end of a long day and I had to limit myself to two, but I finished the evening with a wonderful, fresh, Cask IPA from Middle Ages. Mmmmm! I will be back soon though – the next time making it my first stop. And oh, I did take a RB sandwich home – they are good (and yes – cheap)!

I really like Clark's. After a night in Armory Square, our last stop would always be Clark's for a late night roast beef sandwich, a couple pints of their great beers, and a few games of darts. Clark's is one of the best values in Armory Square in my opinion.

Stopped by recently, after not having visited in way too long. They had McNeill's Ruby Red on tap. This was one that I hadn't heard of before, but coming from one of the best brewers on the planet, I had to try it. It was OUTRAGEOUS. Amber/red in color, and a true McNeill's beer....really complex malt character (I still don't know how they do that) and hoppy as you-know-what. We sat outside on a wonderful evening; for a Wednesday night in July, there were lots of people out and about. Great area.

I am stationed overseas and miss Clark's so much. Yes it has less beers than Blue Tusk but they have completely different atmospheres. When you want great conversation and great beer there is only one pub in Syracuse. CLARK's

This is heaven for an English Brewer; NO music, No TV, just drinkers and eaters enjoying themselves. The house beers were excellent, if a little too cold for the English palate. Doug, the owner's father sent me here from Doug's Diner on the shores of the Finger lakes

I'm on vacation, and I make an extra stop in Syracuse to try their infamous beer bars. But to my dismay, they're closed on Sundays. HOW LAME!

Great beer and a good place to have a conversation. No loud music. No televisions. Part of what has made Armory Square a great place to go.

I've wanted to visit Clark's for almost 10 years now, since first hearing about the place at a Stoudt's Festival. I have lived: I been there. I WANNA GO BACK. An interesting array of beers, well-kept and well-served, and the roast beef sandwich rules. Only downer was one rude jackass of a customer, but that's hardly Clark's fault, is it? Service was excellent, very knowledgeable and cordial.

This was the last stop of the S.C.A.L.E. group tour. I had planned this to end the night in a comfortable manner, and it did. Very nice selection of beers, the service was outstanding, great people. A very cozy atmosphere, the group got into some lively discussions and quaffed a few. After awhile we all decided we were hungry. Ordered roast beef sandwiches for all, fantastic. This is THE place for a roast beef sandwich, the horseradish is so fresh it brings waves of tears to your eyes. If you haven't been there yet, make it a point to go there.

The roast beef sandwich is wonderful. On this particular evening, they were out of several beers. They still have a good selection of regional beers. Nice, low key atmosphere.

My friend and I were able to taste Towpath’s Hoppin’ Mad I. P. A. there, six+ months after the brewery closed (they must’ve bought all the kegs of it!). I was taken by the beer selection (Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale on draft!) and the handling of it: obviously, they clean their lines religiously. Three big cheers (Rah! Rah!! Rah!!!) for both the brews and the roast beef sandwich; the horseradish sauce is spectacular.

Not a huge selection of beers but plenty enough! No music and no TV - great atmosphere for enjoying beer, conversation, or just reading a paper. Minimal selection of food but probably the best roast beef sandwich anywhere for the price, great munchie plates of cheeses(including Stilton!). Clark's Armory ale (IPA) was on hand pump-a well made ale, not overly hopped as so many American IPA's. Staff was anxious to serve and attentive! Still my favorite in Syracuse. A classic pub!

Good tap selection, but there is a better selection at The Blue Tusk and MacGregors. Had a boring atmosphere as there was no music on, but the bartenders were wonderful to talk to. (They know their beers!) Had a wonderful hoppy house beer brewed by Middle Ages. The sandwich was good tasting, however the meat was very fatty. Although this was one of the first good beer bars in the country, they have not kept up with their competition. When in Syracuse next time I will skip this place and head to The Blue Tusk or MacGregors.
