Chadwick's is a good restaurant and I've not had bad service there. In terms of being a "beer bar", however, to say that it is sorely lacking would be an understatement. Unfortunately, in Alexandria and Washington DC, having Rogue Dead Guy on tap will send most people into a swoon. That beer, and Victory Hop Devil, are the only good beers I've ever had there (and the Victory is not always a selection). Having a great selection of Miller and Bud does not a beer bar make.

This is a restaurant in Old Town that has a pretty good beer list. Service can be spotty but I've never had a really bad experience. The food is good and that is why you would stop by.

What a way to destroy my excitement to find a new place for lunch! I am the other colleague mentioned in the review from Washington, D.C. The waitress was not pleasant at all (putting it nicely). She was rude from the time I placed my order until I left. To further demonstrate the poor service received and to elabotate on my colleague's point about separating the bill for charge card purposes, we were instructed by the waitress to calculate our own tax because she was unable to separate the tax on the total bill. This was for three people!!! I think there is a bigger issue, and needless to say, I contemplated about returning for another dining experience when I entered the restaurant prior to meeting my waitress. NOT! In addition to training in customer service, let's try a course in math.

My colleagues and I wanted to try a new restaurant venue for lunch. Based on a recommendation, we decided to try Chadwick’s Old Town. The food was very good; the hostess was very pleasant and the atmosphere of the restaurant was quite nice. HOWEVER, the service was less than stellar. Our waitress was very sarcastic and rude throughout our entire visit. The last straw was her inability to correctly charge our perspective charge cards simply because it would have taken up too much of her leisure time with the other waitresses. Initially, I thought that this would be a very nice establishment to visit for dinner, but the entire experience with the waitress alone has deterred any thought of my returning. I hope that the owner/manager of the restaurant reads the opinions of the patrons and provides feedback to the staff. Since she chose not to provide her name, I can only suggest that customer training be provided to all of the waiting staff.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
I've been going on Thursday's for the 25-cent wings for a couple months now. I also tend to stop in when I go out to Old Town on the weekends. Always a good crowd of people. The bartenders have always been very friendly and I have never had to stand around waiting a long time for a drink.

I have never had a problem with the wait-staff either (this is regarding some of the older commments).

I suggest the BBQ wings!

Good Good Great So So Good
I've been joining a group of friends at Chadwick's for Monday night Burger Night. The burgers are great, the beer is refreshing, over all a fine way to start the week. The service is okay, its probably not exceptional due to the fact that they have serious wait staff turn-over, everyone's always new. The bar tenders are really good, at least the usual Monday night crew. I say try it you'll probably like it, if your dining experience requires "hot" wait staff I'll have to wonder what you're actually after.

We've been going to Chadwicks since it opened. The menu is huge, the food is amazing and the servers & bartenders know you by name. Any place can have an off day, but we've never had anything like Elizabeth's review happen. Hard to believe they could stay open over 20 years and not be getting it right most of the time. We think the place is great - let's hear it from the rest of the Chadwicks fans out there!

So So So So Great Lousy So So
We had a great time here. But I won't lie and say it was the atmosphere. We had good company and good food. The wait staff there is alittle on the unclean looking side and management doesn't look much better, which is probably why the staff is lacking. The food however was AMAZING. So I give the kitchen props. The bar area was a decent time after we ate, but I wouldn't go there only to hang out or for the beer selection. Overall it's a good place to eat. That's it!!

We went to Chadwicks on a Saturday night and had a great time! My boyfriend had the ribs and said they were the best he'd ever had. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful with suggestions. We'll definitely be back!

I am so p.o.'d that we took a Friday night to waste at this place. The location is good, but the so called patio is an enclosed ally next to the building. We ate there this evening, and it was awful - bad service - bad food - cigarette smoke from some sort of a break room was giving my husband a head ache, and the management staff did not a thing to solve the problems. If you read this before you go - good for you.

The beer selection is not anything special they have no brews different than if you were dining at TGI Fridays. I was very disappointed in the service and the wait staff needs to clean up a bit - they scream homely. Some and my friends and I went but we didn't see the hot blonde girl mentioned in reviews below. Never the less nothing made our trip to Chadwicks one worth returning too. Whatever you do don't waste you gas, money, or time.

The food isn't the greatest, but it could have been worse. The manager was rude when we ask that our food go back and new out because it was cold. Our server had too many tables - making the service horrid, but he was a nice guy. This place becomes a definite bar after 9:00 and is alot to handle if you only wanted dinner. Since there are so many other places to go to in Old Town Alexandria, I recomend one of those. This place isn't worth it.

We had a problem with our food and a young girl with glasses that looked too young to be of importance came to our table to try and make things better - She made them worse. Our waiter was a stress case, the cigarette smoke from their must be employee lounge was making my kids sick, the host was rude and wore too much make-up. The place is definitely going to the trash from when I was there four years ago. Needless to say we will not be returning.

The hostess was completely RUDE. I'd called and made reservations, she claimed I didn't have them and acted as though my patronizing her restaurant was a HUGE imposition to her. All of our burgers were undercooked and our waiter could have cared less that we were there. I work for a large company in Alexandria, and we usually brought large groups to Chadwick's for goodbye parties etc, but I assure you that will stop after my recent experience. Don't go, a complete waste of money.

Great service - friendly bartenders. Beer selection is better than average, but not amazing. Food is good to great. Never gets ridiculously crowded, and the crowd is highly diverse - 25-55. Still a bit of a locals' bar, which is a good thing.

Beer Quality Beer Selection Food Service Overall
Great Great Great Great Great
Really been there more for lunch lately. Great grilled chicken sandwich.

As of two years ago Chadwicks was about the only late night bar in town. Everything else in Old Town closes at 1 a.m., but it's open 'til 3. Fun times.
