Food is wonderful, beer is okay but could use more choice of local brews -say something on the dark side, decor festive and interesting, ambiance - often a little too loud (I am always amazed at the number of under 5 year old children here). It is the service that concerns me - incredibly inconsistent - 10 minutes from sit down until someone comes for a drink order, call backs erratic, insufficient wait staff on many occasions - almost like the link between service and tip has not been explained anywhere. We love the food and atmosphere, I like the beer but at some point the erratic service will outweigh all else. Service is so crucial to the success of any establishment - why is it so often overlooked? The owner needs to take a seat at a table on the top two floors of this restaurant and watch the wait staff in operation - then solve the problem.

I had a chance to visit this lovely establishment during a visit to the area over the July 4 weekend. Food was good (especially the shrimp!) and the beer was cold and lovely on a hot, humid evening. The bar area is very welcoming and the Scottish bartender is great fun and provides excellent service. I can't wait to go back on my next visit.

The place is quiet and cozy(the bar area at least) and the Scottish bartender makes everybody fell welcome not to mention being easy on the eyes! Just listening to him talk is enough to make you come back over and over again. PS Try the Crystal Fire Shrimp!

Nice casual atmosphere at this small bar - it doesn't have a wide selection of beers, unfortunately, but I've been on several occasions and have been extremely happy with the bar service. The decor is cajun funk fantastic and the food - particularly the barbecue pork - is to die for.

Food was average and expensive. I was there for lunch on a Thursday afternoon (12/19/2002) - my bill was $17. Ice tea alone was $2, Fried shrimp appetizer was not spicy and they were very small. BBQ "sammich" was served on an overcooked roll, was was dry and vinegary. BBQ also served with side of stale potato chips. I left half my food there when I left. I would not return to this restaurant. For those of you interested in beer - this is not the place.I wanted a draft beer (Coors Light) but the tap beer selction was very meager and did not include much at all - maybe 3 brands on-tap.

A great restaurant with an O.K. beer selection. For great beer go around the corner to a real brewpub, Virginia Beverage Company.

Not a beer bar, but the food is great and unique (one of the few good BBQ places around). Give it a 9 for the food, and maybe a 7 for the beer selection.

I visited on 3/10/99. The Decor was great, the music good. There were eight bottled beers listed on the menu. Specifically; Miller Lite, Bud, Bud Light, Heineken, Amstel Light, Rolling Rock, Corona and Coors Light. The draft beers listed were Road House Red, Virginia Native Gold, and Virginia Native Dark. I ordered the Red but it was "out". So I ordered the "dark". I think I know what "dark" is, but this could have easily been called "red". It had a good taste and body but definitely not what I would consider a "dark". Eight kinds of super market beer and three (two) micro brews does not make a "beer bar" in my book.

A new menu and better selection of beers has made this restaurant even better. The decor is quite unique. Staff is friendly and efficient. The bar is one of the best around. A must stop for a fun time.

Revisited KSB and found that their micro awareness has increased. They now have local Virginia micros on tap. I love this place and visit it each time I visit Alexandria (2/3 times a year).
