7th Street Grille was a popular mid-priced lunch... Definitely had the feel of a pub and not the American imitation kind.
I spent enough post-workdays dwelling over a pint and sharing conversation with good people here.
The place closed, as mentioned by other Pittsburgh media sources due to a family dispute - father owns the building and son the restaurant - or something very similar.
The owner of 7th Street has packed up and opened up shop across the river on the Southside and is doing another bar/restaurant called the Hot Metal Grille.
Hot Metal Grille is worth giving a try - it's located in a major development area with condos and a large many-screen movie theatre going in very soon along with a Cheesecake Factory and other retail establishments.
I will point out that Hot Metal is by no means at this point beer friendly like 7th Street was. Hot Metal Grille has about 10 taps, Hoegaarden and Penn Brewing products pretty much are the only acceptable beers.

I walked by the 7th Street Grille on November 30. There was a sign in the window from the landlord indicating that the Grille was closed but also stating that a new bar/restaurant tentant was being sought.

last i checked, this was a web site focused on beer. why even review this place? This place has a drab selection of beer and is primarily a happy hour spot for lawyers/business people downtown. The food is good but its not a beer bar at all. dont get me wrong, its a great lunch spot but i wouldnt go there looking for a great selection of beers

Seventh Street Grill is a great place to meet after work, before a show, after a show, before a game or after one. Heck it's a great place to meet anytime. Greet old friends or meet new ones. With a small grill atmosphere that is hard to find in Pittsburgh, or at least where the food is good. I would recomend the grill to anyone who loves the flavor of a misquete smoke grill that streaches the entire length of the cultrual district...calling youo and begging you to feast upon grilled duck or filet mingion. My favorite is a grilled duck salad. However order the duck Med. Rare and try the peanut soy dressing and waeh it down with a cold bass draft.

7th Street is located downtown in the Cultural District. So any time you are going to the Benedum or Heinz Hall this is right down the street. Likewise, it is across the bridge essentially from the new stadiums.
7th, tends to be a 5pm bar for professionals - suits and a safe bet for an average $10 lunch.

Nice location in downtown, near the theatres. The tap selection varies but always includes a mix of the favorites as well as microbrews and if you are into other drinks besides beer, the bartenders are imaginative. The food is consistently getting better and the appetizers on Friday are often first rate. The bar area is small (if you are bothered by smoke), but there is a downstairs restaurant as well.
