I walked into the door of the West Seattle location while waiting for my car to be service at a nearby dealer. Walking up to the bar, I decided to order a "pint" of No-Doubt Stout. The bartender seemed quite inconvienienced to have to break off her conversation with a friend to acknowledge my presence, and after tapping my brew, I paid for it and went and sat down. The stout was fresh, but served English. Maybe thats the way they like it in England, but I like my brew cold. Still I gave the beer quality a good rating. I would have rated their food, for there was some interesting faire on their table menu, but I could not get the waiter's, bartender's (or who I presume was) the manager's attention. It was then I realized they decided not to further serve me. So I turned my foamy pint glass upside down atop a penny and left for a much better establishment up the street, vowing never to ever give this bunch a chance at my wallet.

This review is Based on the Burien location which is 5 miles east of Seatac Airport. The beers are good, especially the Luna weizen which is THE BEST in the state of WA. Further, they have a very nice Belgium selection. However, when it comes to the food, this is the reason why it is worth the visit. They have a "bavarian pretzel" which easily compares with what you would get in Munich, both in quality and size (huge). Even better is the sweet/sour mustard to go with it. So, if your in the area and you want a nice lunch with plenty o' beers, this is the place !!

Great location (good record stores and ice cream within a few doors' walk). Great ambience. The food is great pub grub. Beer varies from well-chosen (guests) to well-made to uninspired. The service ranges from thoughtless and inattentive to better than average, depending on who you get. Their whole staff is friendly and cheerful, though. You could call this place as an eventual must-try, not an immediate must-try.

Well, I finally made it down here & I have to say that I am very disappointed. It is a nice location, the service was great, but the beer was horrible! They have a number of good guest taps, but their own beers miss the mark. Considering all of the great breweries here in town, this is amazingly bad.
When I was there, they had 5 beers. First, the LUNA WEIZEN, which had a very citrusy taste, but absolutely no banana/clove and very little real flavor - 4 out of 10. The ALEMBIC PALE was more bitter than I would expect from a pale, not very well balanced, decent but nothing special - 5 out of 10. The IPA was incredibly unbalanced and overly bitter. I love hops, but this was ridiculously bitter w/ almost no malt. Their literature promised "floral" but it didn't come close, no grapefruit, no real citrus - 4 out of 10. The DRY HOPPED IPA was a bit better, there was actually a bit of malt to balance the hops, but still overly bitter - 5 out of 10. The NO DOUBT STOUT was highly carbonated, complete with a bit of "bite". Pretty good, a medium body stout w/ coffee notes. Easily the best in the place, 7.5 out of 10.

The perfect combo--the friendly neighborhood bar with fine semi-gourmet eats and great beers. The dry-hopped IPA is a champ in aromatics & bite. Plus they had a fine selection of hard to find guest beers.

The feel of a neighborhod bar (inlcuding freindly & knowledgable bar-tender) with excellent home-mdae brew, top notch guest taps, and well-wrought food selections. The dry-hopped IPA was A+ bursting with hops, fine strong ale & stout, p;us an excellent guest scotch ale. the 1/2 nachos was moer than a hungry me could eat.

Let me start with that I am not in a good mood. The normal selection of beers is marginal only 4; however they do have about 5 more seasonals. I found the house IPA to be very good. The dry hopped IPA was good but I still preferred their regular. The food on the other hand was fairly disappointing. It may be a Seattle thing but the bread was not fresh. or if they buy from Gais, their bread is never fresh. But what really frost me was when the waitress asked if I wanted fries or salad. I picked salad. I was charged $.75 extra for doing so. Had she given me notice that salad was extra, it would not have bothered me but to ask as if it was an option and then charge just isn't right.

I am not a beer drinker and I drink the beer at Elliot Bay. If that doesn't say something about there beer, I don't know what does. Their fisch and chips are the best!

Nice place - terrible beer!
The Full Moon Tavern down the street is the place to go for a great beer selection. I've been to Elliott Bay many times over the years and have yet to find any of the beers that are brewed their to my liking - YUCK!). On the other hand, the food is very good, a bit pricey but good.

Very comfy and cosy. The negative postings here made me wary but I found all their beers to be very fine, especially the pale ale, Hefeweissen and a seasonal strong ale, Demolition. The IPA did not match others in the region and this may be the reason for some of the negative reviews.

The house brews were very marginal. Certainly do not measure up to its Pacific NW competition. The service, food and location were all great. The guest beer, a nitro pushed Boundary Bay IPA was excellent (but of course not made there).

A somewhat Yuppie neighborhood bar that seems to have outlasted the previous occupant, California Street Brewery. A great place to meet friends with reasonably priced meals. The Organic Rye was the best I have tasted for this style and goes great with spicy foods. I have been here twice and the service was slow but friendly.

Cool brewpub with no attitude. Food is damn good and the beers hold their own. Lots of regulars, so they must be doing something right! Miss the smelly old couches from the California Alaska Brewing days.

They have come along way since the old West Seattle Brewing days. The building is terrific with it's wood floors and grand oak bar. The beer is getting better all the time...when you can get the house favorites. On more than one occasion I was unable to get the Alembic Pale which stands in a class of it's own when it's aged and available. The food is very good and the people who work there are good folks. This is the epitome of a neighborhood brewpub.

for the longest time I put off writing a review because I felt that they didn't not even come close to touching the California Street Brewery, that used to exist at this location, as far as the quality of the brews. Well that has changed they have finally matured as a brewey. The Luna Weizen is excellent light, crisp, an American Hefeweizen, The Rocking Organic Rye is unbelieveable. This is a very tough style of beer to produce. Crisp, bitter, touch of malt, well balanced, with the finish of rye. My hat's off to the brewer on this one. Food is typical bar grub, burger, sandwiches, etc. The fries are very nice.

Other than being able to park easily there is not much reason to venture over to this place from anywhere else in Seattle. The beer selection was very limited--I was informed that they were holding it out for some street festival or something equally silly.
Had to wait 15 minutes for a waiter to show up at my table, even though it was not overly crowded, although on a return visit (had to give it another chance), the bar service was pretty good.
The actual Elliott Bay beers are fairly bland. On the plus side, they have some guest taps including some beers from Elysian and a real Belgian Lambic (Framboise--I believe it was Lindemans).
The food was pretty good, although it remains comfortably in the burger/chicken sandwich realm.
