They are back... but minus a liqueur license. So they are a coffee shop until they can get a license.

Not a review but to report that Blind Tiger will soon rise again at the corner of Bleeker & Jones. (May 2006?)

I was here today for liquid lunch (aka the last supper?) Good news is they're going to reopen somewhere else. New location TBA. Check their website for updates on the new address when available.

Bad news fellow beer fans... The Blind Tiger is being shut down. The owner of the building has informed the Blind Tiger team that December 27th is it... they are going to turn the whole building into upscale apts. Terrible news... the city is losing one of the best places for brews. Stop by before the end of December and raise a glass to the incredible team @ Blind Tiger--- if you wait until 2006 you will be too late.

Maybe it's you, Craig? It's not hard to get service if you walk from your wobbly table to the bar area.
By the way, it was Seriously Bad Elf, and it's an English strong ale, brewed in England.
The Blind Tiger boasts 24 taps and at least one cask on handpump every day, with a nice selection of bottles as well. Late in the evening, and on the weekend, the place is Metro hell, but during the week it's a must for any beer enthusiast. Most Wednesdays offer a blindlingly excellent event of some sort, with rare (to the area or to the world) and/or one-off beers and/or aged classics presented for the masses to imbibe. Heck, even Mondays are fun, with free Sabretts in the corner and a more easygoing crowd.
The current location will need to be renovated soon -- look at the ceiling sometime and you'll understand -- but its return is promised. We can't afford to lose such a classic beer bar, that's certain.

One of the few places in the city that has anything on cask. When I went over thanksgiving weekend they had Brooklyn Brown and a belgian tripel called "seriously Bad", both on cask. Seems like every time I go to one of these smaller bars in the city the female bartenders are always talking to their boyfriend and can't be bothered to do anything. They had a really good selection on tap, but the tables are so wobbly you can't even put your beer on them.

Awesome does not describe how superlative this Garden of Beerden is. I live in the DC area and make several weekend trips to NYC a year just to hit the Blind Tiger (along with Gingerman, dba, Blind Tiger and Brazen Head - to name just a few.) Where else can you go on a quiet afternoon in the West Village (they still call it that right?) and enjoy fresh ales such as : Chelsea Sunset Red, Chelsea Henry Hudson Cask IPA, Rogue Hazelnut Brown, Sierra Nevada Harvest (Seasonal) and ... AAAA Leffe Brown. Simply an experience. If I had my way, it would be a crime to enter this establishment an order Budweiser. Nuff said.

What's to say? The Blind Tiger bends over backwards to get a phenomenal, mind-blowing selection of beers, has a regular calendar of over-the-top beer events, euchres special-release kegs out of brewers, and presents them all to the beer lover in fantastic condition. Prices are not out of line, whiskey selection is also good, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Gotta -- and I do mean GOTTA -- love this place!

Best beer bar in the city hands down. Fantastic selection and clean tap lines. The only draw back at el tigre; I am never able to drag myself out of the place before closing which happens around 4 am.

Went here for the Stone Brewing kickoff event. Nice bar with plenty of taps. Wonder what 12 beers they took off to put the Stones on. Bartender was a little slow, but it was pretty busy so I'll let him go on that. Overall a nice place. For a full review check out my site www.thedanandjohnbeersite.com

Nice, cozy little bar with plenty of great stuff on tap. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a nice place to spend a night in Manhattan. This is the bar in NYC that I continue to go back to

Wally has issues... Wally has issues.... It's not like gay people are out to get you, son!
Anyhow. With all the good beer being poured at the Blind Tiger, you're recommending something you can get at half the bars in town? For shame. Better to sample something you don't see every day. Granted, being from Mississippi you don't get such a wide range of beer choices, but really. Most of the taps rotate quickly, and the special events they hold on many Wednesdays are, well, incredible. They can bring in beers you just don't see on tap in NYC.
Any person seriously into beer, be they straight, gay, black, white, or green, owes it to themselves to stop by here when they're in the city. Quite possibly the best beer bar in Manhattan.

This place has some of the best beer in New York City. I have been to many great beer bars and pubs but this one had the best beer at the perfect temperature. I recommend the Brooklyn Pilsner. The prices are fairly competitive too. The only problem is the location. They're right in the middle of the West Village (gay area). But it's worth the risk to have some of their beer.

A nice little bar, it does some cask conditioned beers, the Trafalgar Ale I tried was comparable to a good english brew. Staff are enthusiastic and knowledgeable about beers, a combination not always found in the USA. Look out for specials nights e.g free hotdogs on Mondays after 6:00p.m. and beer/cheese nights (Wednesday I think). Being a Brit used to top quality ales for the equivalent of less than $3, I thought the prices a little steep but not excessive for New York.

I was certainly surprised that an establishment of this size would have such fantastic beers! 24 taps and some of the best beers in the world! We came for a special tasting and would love to return every day! Alas, we live so far away! I wonder if Dave would like to open up a place down my way!! When in NYC, don't miss this place. It is a beer geeks Mecca!

My favorite bar in New York. McSorely's and DBA follow. Great bear selection, clean lines, nice people. The place is a little divey, but I like that.

Every draught beer was awesome. But they're not throwing people out for drinking Buds or Amstel Lights. At least not on Thursdays. It always amazes me to watch college educated people drink Amstel Light and proclaim "The Emperor's new suit is breathtaking!". I must conform or be cast out! Sorry, the real beer here is unbelievable across the board. Bring earplugs on you can guess which nights. Note: 1 visit only.

the place is a bit of a dump, and small, but an impressive selection of taps. The female bartender was a solid 8.5.
