I wish I lived in the neighborhood, so I could make this my local default for when the wife and I don't feel like cooking.
Food is amply diverse for anyone I'd care to dine with. Beer selection is from heaven. FROM HEAVEN.
Atmosphere occasionally ventures into sports bar spectrum, but that never bothers me at Mugs. Table service is knowledgeable and friendly.
Also: pinball. Very important.
This is the sort of place that locals need to vigorously support, before all of our choices are reduced to TGIF's and Olive Garden. Go there.

My friends and I have been coming here for years. The beer selection is outstanding, with an obviously wide array from the Brooklyn Brewery (it is only a few blocks away). It's always great to go here and try the variety of brews not found elsewhere. We almost always try a lambic or two from their extensive list. Of course they have the obvious popular swill, that undoubtedly one person in your group will continue to drink (Paul). They always have a specially priced pint, but it's never cheap beer. The food is wonderful pub fare, with some menu selections that you might not find in a typical pub. We highly recommend the mussels (I believe they're cooked with beer, but I could be wrong). Even though our group is scattered throughout the metro area, we keep coming back here. The staff favors the regulars, but certainly doesn't ignore newbies. A rarity in NYC, they actually called me to tell me that I left my cell there one night. Honesty, great food, and wonderful beers. A definate must!

An excellent draft selection consisting of 25 or so American and imported ales and lagers. Although they certainly lean toward the Brooklyn Brewery's offerings (home field advantage, I guess), an impressive number of choices can be found(including, during my visit, Sierra Nevada Octoberfest, Heavyweight I.P.A. and Bluepoint's cask-conditioned oatmeal stout) That said, it's the bottle selection at Mugs that really shines. A large portfolio of beers including some fine vintage Thomas Hardy's and other rare prizes. The decor is very low-key, creating a welcoming, friendly pub atmosphere. Certainly worth the short trek out to Williamsburg

One of the 20 best beer bars I've been in, anywhere. It doesn't hurt that Mugs is literally around the corner from Brooklyn Brewing and had six of their excellent beers on draft when I visited, including the exceptional Star of Manchester, a one-off porter that I intend to petition the brewery to make again (and again and again!). Mugs has a great jukebox, an out of the ordinary beer selection, very reasonable prices, and a cross-sectional clientele. It felt very "bar-like" in that indefinably comfortable way. I'd go back again tomorrow.

My wife and I went to a barleywine tasting here. From what we remember, the beer selection was spectacular! Little known, rarely seen brews with some real gems in the bunch. These people KNOW beer!

Great location and great bar. Cheap pints (Old Foghorn Imperial pint for $4? Get out!). Lots of twentysomethings on a Friday night, drinking good beer! What could go wrong? Plus, it's only a block or two from the Brooklyn Brewery. And they have a barleywine festival mid-March. Overall cool place.

Probably one of the best draft selections in all of New York City, not quantity-wise, but quality-wise. Even though the folks from CAMRA might not like the particular lambic available on draft there (probably too sweet), the fact is they HAVE a lambic on draft! Not too common on THIS side of the Pond. This place is definitely one of THE best beer bars in all of New York City.

Mugs is my local watering hole and what a watering hole it is. They serve the 20 something beers in British pints for $3.50. This has to be the best deal in NYC. They usually have three full line of Brooklyn beers and most of the Anchor beers (including my fav, Liberty Ale). They carry many seasonal beers too. Mugs pours a lot of beer, so the beer is always fresh. They also have hand-pumps for the occasional cask conditioned beer. The food is top-notch for a pub with great specials and burgers.

This is a great local beer bar, with an amazing selection and good food, good prices, which also hosts a local homebrew club every month (the second Wednesday of the month), called the Malted Barley Appreciation Society.

Muggs Ale House has approximately 20-someodd beers on tap and about another 50 or so bottles. Muggs prices are reasonable for the neighborhood (3 bucks a pint of Hefe-weizen) Corsendonk beers go for about $5 a bottle. They have a $2 pint special which changes from month to month. One month it can be a Saranac beer, the next month it can be Sam Adams. They have decent pub grub, ranging from chicken fingers and burgers, to entrees like grilled chicken and veggies.
