This place was a sleeper in the sence that from the outside you think plain, but once inside you are treated to beer memorabilia on the walls and up by the bar. Parking was a problem.

One of the only places in the East Bay that has Downtown Brown. Their black-bean chili is great, and they even used to show 'The Iron Chefs' on Saturday nights.

Cosmopolitan, cross-cultural, friendly atmosphere. A great representation of the Oakland ambiance. Try the lamb burgers. Don't try the ketchup. Knowledgeable staff. Live acoustic music. Pub night every Tuesday with a featured beer (and glass from the brewery). Food by Britt Marie (excellent!).
