The food and the service were great. The beer was not so good. In fact I was drinking water by the end of my meal. If they put a little time and effort into their beers, this would be a great place.

During two visits (2004 and 2006) I found the beer to be poorly made with overwhelming diacetyl probelms. Undrinkable IPA and pilsner-styled ale. They're either rushing the beer through the filter or have a pedio infection. In either case, if you're going to make and sell your own beer, at least give a shit about it or sell off the brewery and just grill steaks.

Nice place, awful beer. I had the IPA and tasted the wheat. They were both really bad. Very nice looking steakhouse with a lot of cool old Husker photographs. The steaks must be good because they certainly are not surviving by selling beer.

Last time I was in here it was Crane River. In this case only the name has been changed (I presume to protect the innocent). I stoppen in on a Wednesday afternoon for a sampler. Sat at the bar and tried the offerings. They had a decent selection of styles, but none really stood out. They had two wheats, a spiced american and a traditional american, both were ok. The rest all lacked character. The bartender was waiting on tables inside and outside so was distracted. All in all if you were there when it was Crane River and found it to be boring and benign then, nothing has changed so don't go in with great expectations. It is really a shame with it's location across the street from Embassy Suites that they don't do a better job.

I've been told that its the same brewer that was with Crane River, but it just seems like the beers have fallen down a notch. Service is so so at best, and the food at times is good, awful others...and definitely over-priced.

Stopped in after having lunch at Fireworks (Empyrian ales) for an after lunch beer. Service was slow, and the beer was mediocre at best. Skip this one and go right to Lazlo's or Fireworks - their beer are awesome.

I ate at your establishment this afternoon. First we had to wait 10-15minutes and then finally told someone in the bar that we would seat ourselves. It took another 10-15 minutes until a waitress showed. When we ordered we asked for onion rings as an appitizer and asked for dressing on the side. When finally our food arrived 30-35 minutses later it all was lukewarm. The onion rings were delivered with the meal and the dressings were all on the salads. The waitress would take our drinks and come back 10 minutes later maybe with refills. My daughter had to ask for a glass of water three times. The last straw was when my wife went to the restroom and the waitress instead of ringing up our credit card was standing in the back talking to someone. Overall the food was tasty if it would have been hot and on time.

Now called "Mistys", after the original restaurant across town, and originally after the Johnny Mathis song. Redone interior. Same great beer with some improvements. Misty's is famous in Lincoln for their beef, which is AWESOME. Try the bison ribeye - its great!
Check it out!

Always a wonderful place to come for a meal or just a great brew. Awesome windows and views and the service is always superb. Some of the best dishes around and the best tomato soup I've ever tasted. Only wish they'd swap the smoking seating with the non-smoking. I think the non-smokers should get the better seating.

Stopped in for a late lunch. The food was good and the portions were large. The beers were just adequate. We tried a pale ale, ESB and a stout. None of which really stood out. The service was quick and friendly.

I like this restaurant because it offers great food for a college student budget. It's a breath of fresh air from fast food. It's atmosphere also allows a relaxing escape from whatever stresses you may entail on a particular day. Their wheat beer is exceptionally refreshing on a scalding summer day.

The best part about Crane River is the interesting styles of beers they brew. All are worth trying, with a couple of exceptional ones. The food was good, with all the vegetarian selections clearly marked.

Crane River is the funkier of the two microbreweries in Lincoln. They use a single strain of ale yeast for all their beers, including brews that are nominally in the lager style. They aren't as heavily filtered as most microbrews, which gives them more body and flavor, but less clarity. Unusual styles include the Zlate Pivo (A Czech style pilsener fermented with ale yeast) and the Carhenge (Coriander and Orange wheat beer, served with a slice of orange). Staff is friendly and you never have to wait for a table. All of their entrees are reasonably priced and their sandwiches are all good. If you want interesting, inexpensive food and full-bodied beer, check out Crane River.

Although my expectations for finding good beer in Lincoln, NE was not high, this place managed to let me down. The beer was, in a word, skanky.

We wanted to like Crane River Brewpub, but unfortunately really can't recommend it highly. The pub is located in downtown Lincoln only blocks from the University of Nebraska campus. The building is nicely restored and the decor and furnishings quite attractive. The bar and dining area are airy and open. There were not many customers on a Saturday afternoon before the football season, and one of the owners was very friendly and welcoming. However, the biggest disappointment was the raison d'etre for a brewpub: the beers themselves. A couple of them were adequate (the stout and an American variation on a Belgian wit), but several beers were far too sweet and not completely fermented. We didn't sample the food. Perhaps on another occasion our experience might have been more positive.

This has to be one of the worst brewpub experiences ever! The beer was okay, but nothing to write home about. On the other hand the service was atrocious! I had to ask for another beer after my glass sat empty for a good twenty minutes. The chips were stale, the bread was microwaved to a hard brick-like texture, the peppers were soggy, and I received steak on a tofu salad! Not to mention the server helped himself to a $19 tip, forgetting to return the cash. And one more thing, the restaurant was filthy! Hope you don't have to go to the bathroom -- you'll have to walk right by the dishroom!!

Worth a trip for the food and if you need to add another brewpub to your list of conquests. The beer, while palatable, could be raised a few notches. It is crafted for the MGD drinker.
