I finally made it back to Pete's after a very long time. The food hasn't changed (which is a good thing) but the addition of the brewery and the remodling added a great deal. The signature Choc beer, an American Wheat, is a very solid beer. Unfortunately, they do not presently sell the Choc in the party pigs. They do have some large bottles they sell in four packs as well as a conventional 6x12oz pack. The peach was very good according to my wife...I just can't stand fruit in my beer, so I'm not objective at all. The only other selection was "Miner's Light" which I did not sample.
All in all, I have to highly recommend this place. The uniqueness alone makes it worth a stop and the beer is probably as good as you will find in Oklahoma these days.

Very interesting and enjoyable place. I was passing through town on my own, and stopped by. Being alone, I felt kind of funny in the individual dining room, but I got some reading done. The three beers were all pretty good, and the service was great.

$12.00 for a pitcher of beer is extremely expensive considering a pitcher is only 5 glasses of beer. The Choc beer is very good, but not that good. The food is also expensive, they serve it homestyle so you get a lot of pasta, nothing on the menu is under 12.95. I loved the individual dining rooms, very quaint.

I went to Pete's Place back in 1958 when I was working at the McAlester Clinic as a student doctor with the Doctors Brown (brothers). Probably retired or dead by now. The thing I remember most was the garlic bread... super garlicky and wonderful. I haven't been back since but I will some day and try the beer.

My mother in law brought me a "Pig" of the peach beer when she visited. She didn't know what she was getting, she just knew she was getting me "beer to go" (pretty novel concept for us bass-ackward Okies). It sat in her garage for a week or two before she gave it to me on my birthday. I was a little skeptical, since I'm a beer snob and I'm not into peaches. But I chilled the Pig and brought it out for a few friends while we watched the DiamondBacks blow two consecutive ninth-inning leads in the 2001 World Series. Doh! All in all, the beer wasn't bad. For 3.2% ABV. After the shock of the peach flavor wore off, it was a fairly good beer. It wasn't overly carbonated, probably due to the nature of the Pig dispenser. There was a fairly tart taste that I attributed to the acid in the peaches rather than the brewing process. After 50+ years, they probably know what they are doing. Final rating: I'd willingly drink it again especially if the alternative is Budweiser.

Go to Pete's Place after a long day of not eating! You will be pleased with the unique atmosphere and large quantities of food, great food! Also, you will have a private room -- tables are located in individual rooms -- wow, GREAT PLACE! With the new OK law, you can now take a few brews with you to enjoy later. I suggest the CHOC beer. ENJOY!!

First, Pete's is in Krebs, OK which is a tiny Italian community just outside McAlester. I have not been back to Pete's Place since they started serving beer again. It is a very old establishment that is famous for its homestyle service, Italian food and lamb fries. The food is totally awesome and Pete's should not be missed. I'm sure the beer is pretty good too because I can't imagine anything there not being first rate. Pete's is worth some extra driving.
