Since I went to Laslo's specifically to eat lunch, I am rating the experience base don the food - I had an open faced ruben, with a salad, and a lemonade - it cost me $13.26 which in of itself is pretty outrageous for the small portion served, not to mention that the quality was one of the worst I've ever had - the corned beef was pressed, lunch meat - not anywhere near what I would claim as corned beef. Very disappointing - I had heard bad comments, but wanted to give it a try myself to rate it on my personal opinion - I should have listened to other's opinions - will definitely NEVER go back. Too bad - atmosphere was very nice - with better food Laslo's might stay in busines - but with the less than even fast food quality - I don't look for them to remain open in the Omaha area - too many other great choices for much less $$$. I look forward to see what other business with more quality might be taking over the building once Laslo's closes. I will highly recomment to all friends/relatives to save they're money for some other place to dine.

I previously rated Lazlo's as "Awesome"!
Unfortunately, I have to change my opinion due to my last visit.
We arrived (my 5 month old, my wife, and I) with many open tables (12) to be seen, and no one waiting.
We stood at the door for 25+ minutes (It's extremely cold in February, and my 5 month old doesn't need to have to wait on the floor as my arms gave out holding her seat.) The door is less than 5 yards from the counter.
Eventually, we get seated. Behind the fireplace wall at the complete back of the restaurant next to the entrance to "the den". A "wonderful" two seat tiny table.
Waitress was great. I made the comment that Lazlo's sure isn't what it used to be. She talked to the manager type who cam over. Manager type asked what I meant by the comment.
I explained that when I worked for the original Lazlo's in the Haymarket, no one waited 20+ minutes if there was open tables. They didn't put couples with infants way in the back against a wall. Her atitude was basically "oh well", and got a smug look on her face and walked away.
I used to wait over an hour just to get into Lazlo's just for the French dip sandwiches. Now I wouldn't wait long enough to cross the street to get to the place. Just a tiny amount of meat (less than 1/4 filled bun), and was served with 1/4" of au jus in the ramiken.
I now tell people to avoid going to Lazlo's, it just isn't what it used to be.
It used to rock! Excellent service, Excellent food, with huge portions, and a fun place to go.
Now: Service stinks, food is sub par at best, and the portions are tiny and overpriced ($4.99 for SIX onion rings!!!)
Jay and Scott, what happened????

I was just telling a friend that your French Dip was the best I ever had. I was so embarrassed that the next time we visited Lazlos on 56th & Hwy 2 it turned out to be the worst sandwich I ever ate at your restaurant.
The meat was not cooked all the way and there was so much fatty waste and the bread was soaked completed through with the juice. It was like they took the scraps from the prime rib and slapped it on a hoagie bun. I would have said something at the time, but no one asked how my meal was. They just gave me my check.
I use to live in South Lincoln and went to this location about 3 or 4 times a month. Since I've moved to East Lincoln I go to the downtown Lazlos more often as I work downtown.
Since September I've been to 56th & Hwy 2 three times, two of the three times was unsatisfactory. Has there been a change in management? What is the reason for the poor service and quality of food?
The other unsatisfactory incident involved the hostess and my husband. She fawned all over us because we had to wait for our food (We were in your restaurant a total of 45 min. I didn't think it was excessive.) She ended up giving us our meal free. I was shocked! I had been there earlier in the day with my friends and it took us 45 minutes to eat. So I asked my husband if this hostess was a friend of his. He said he didn't know her. What would be the difference between 3 women taking 45 minutes to dine and a couple taking 45 minutes to dine? Since I hadn't seen my husband for 2 weeks as I was out of the country, I enjoyed spending a nice quiet meal with him, except for her constant coming over to the table and touching him and talking to him about our "wait". Hopefully this hostess has been fired by now, she was pregnant and I hate to have her lose her job, but she needs to keep her hands off married men.

My wife and I set up our vacation trip as a brewpub tour. Our first stop was for lunch as Lazlo's and we were the first customers of the day. This is a nicelay apoointed, comfortable pub. We had a nice lunch with good, frindly service. The beer selection was good, coming from the Empyrian Brewing next door. We tried the Vanilla Porter and Pale Ale. Both were good, true to style, and tasty. The size of the lunch crowd would indicate that this is a popular downtown Lincoln restaurant. Don't let the "Great" ratings put you off - I seldom give an awesome. We would definitely recommend and return to Lazlo's.

I go the one in the Hay Market every time I go to or by Lincoln. I have had the best service every time. The first time I went I was pregnant and they let me try 3 different meals and only charged me for the last one. Last time I went with my two boys and the food took a little while and they comped my entire meal even the glass of wine I ordered after they told us they would comp the dinner. I HIGHLY suggest this restaurant to every one who comes within 100 miles!

Beer and food good. I've had steaks, salmon, and chicken sandwiches here. Beer is actully brewed at Empyrean Brewery behind the restaurant. This and Fireworks restaurant owned by same people.

A kid named Billy was tending bar the night that I visited Lazlo's. That Billy knew more about beer than anyone I've ever met. He made my drinking experience awesome!! Although I live in VA and rarely travel through Lincoln, I will go out of my way to visit Lazlo's anytime I'm out west so that Billy can pour me some more cool ones! Oh by the way, the food was great too!

Wonderful place to visit! Check it out. Both the food and beers are worth a try. They had 8 brews on tap this day, maybe one of which wasn't to my liking.

Great find during a brief stay in Lincoln. Good beers and great food. They use hickory as fuel to cook most of their dishes so the smoke flavour as well as aroma is everywhere. The most memorable beer was a seasonal, a california common, very tasty and brewed to style. It's a big place and I think there are 2 or 3 seperate resturants/grills all attached to the same brewery which was a bit confusing. Good, food and beer and a nice environment.

I've moved from Lincoln to Savannah and still believe that Lazlo's is one of the better Brewery's/East establishments I have been to. They have a great staff, very educated on how to make beer and freshly remodeled restaurant. I highly recommend a visit during Husker Saturday!!!

I stopped in to Lazlo's this summer when it was an incrediably hot day. I tried the ESB and the Porter. I would say they were average, though better than anything else you can get bottled around here. I didn't have a chance to try the food, but I would say the food overall in Nebraska is lacking. Though the availability of fresh beef is here, the ability to prepare it is lacking.

One word: flavor. Whether you like it or not, this place offers beers with lots of flavor. I was somewhat disappointed that they served their beers ice cold in frozen glasses as if they were serving Bud Light, but the server was understanding and knwoledgable. The Luna Sea ESB carried lots of hoppy flavor and was excellent. The Third Stone Brown had LOTS of raosted/toasted flavors, if that's your thing. The Cahcon Canyon gold was imprssively flavored for a lighter beer. After sipping on many too many beers at too many other establishments that lacked flavor, this place was a treat with their over-flavored beers. It is refreshing to visit a place willing to take a chance, instead of trying to please the Budweiser crowd. If in Lincoln, I highly recommend hitting Laszlo's for a pint or three.

I used to be a prep cook at this joint back in the day when I went to UNL. Great people are working behind the scenes to bring you great food. There have even been times that when the wait it long, you never see a bill brought to your table. Stay calm and patient and you'll definately be rewarded.

For something slightly different, go to the restaurant CO-LOCATED with Lazlo's, its called "Fire Works" and they specialize in wood-fired oven cooking/grilling. They designed their food to go with Lazlo's brews. Try the 710 Ashbury Pizza with a few pints of the E.S.B. and you'll be back!

Tried most of their beers in the sample glasses. The vanilla porter was by far the best beer. The others, including the brown ale, were all thin and very filtered. The bartender was very helpful and on top of the service all night.

A great bar. Great food and the Beer is top notch. Coming from a fan of micro-brews, I would rate Lazlo's right up there with many of the establishments here in the Pa.,NJ,NY area. Go Huskers!
