I had not had a bad experience in the few years that I have been coming however I brought my family out to dinner this past week and I have to say I was disappointed in the Great Baraboo.. Normally the food is alive with flavor, cooked to perfection.. Well, dinner was not .. It was very bland and almost room temperature. The service was terrible! My waitress made me feel like I was doing her a favor by choosing to eat there.. All I could here was bickering between the wait staff amongst themselves and also among the kitchen staff.. Honestly I feel like maybe if the waitress wasn't causing so much conflict with the cooks maybe the would have prepared my families food better. Sad to say but I recommend a lot of business your way and because of my disappointment I am going to take my business and my referrals some where I feel appreciated.

Pretty much what I expected, and I didn't expect much. Caribou Wheat--"ultra" light no flavor to speak of, Shark Tooth Golden and Honey Brown both had hints of banana or Belgian notes not meeting their descriptions. Snake Eye Red pretty blah, again, not much there. Boston Porter--mediocre at best, flavor fades quickly, Heartland Hoppy Pale--hoppy is in the name, and I did notice some hops. "Hoppy"? No. Good lunch crowd, most drinking othere beferages than the house product.

I stop in here every couple of weeks for lunch or an early dinner. Beer is always good but not great. The food is better, particularly the sandwiches & roll-ups. The patio's nice but they need a noise break to keep the Moravian traffic from drowning out the conversation.

The food is surely the saving grace for this place and not the beer or service. Rarely a bad meal, even the kids menu. Beer selection is just so-so, maybe because I look for Amber's, Bitter's and IPA's (their Pale Ale is dull and not refreshing like advertised) and I'm not much for Wheat's, Porter's and Stout's. Service is what they lack mostly. On one occasion, I dropped my growler in the parking lot on the way in and the handle cracked. We had been stopping in at least 2 or 3 times of month for either a refill or dinner & a refill, so I asked if I could get the growler replaced. The manager said I had to purchase a new growler. Are you in the business to sell glass or beer? An ounce of customer service would have gone a long way. I got in filled and brought in home anyways. My father-in-law gashed his finger pretty bad on the growler later in the evening, not knowing that it was cracked. I emptied the beer and pitched the growler. I'll never buy another one, your loss not mine. Last week, I left the Michigan Summer Beer Festival, traveled 1-1/2 hours straight to the Baraboo for dinner. With my Festival T-Shirt and wristband on, I asked if there were any specials for people who went to the Festival and supported Michigan Brewers. The manager didn't bother to come to the table and say no, he just told the waitress to tell me. Again, an ounce of service and a complementary pint (a small cost) would have gone much further. Many of their specials (check their website to confirm) are regarding bottled beer (not their own). Go for the food, not for the beer or service.

Great friendly neighborhood bar/restaurant. Solid service, food and beer, plus a fully stocked bar for the non-good beer drinkers. They've added the Hoppy Heartland Pale to their regular beer list (my favorite!). They have daily and weekly specials on top of a diverse menu. The "Rib Rave" special is excellent! 1/2 off appetizers/$2.75 pints from 3-6 pm EVERY day! Specials during Detroit, U-M, & MSU games. Discount coupons are in local flyers, as well as the Entertainment Book. There's something for everyone here, and it's family friendly, too!

I recently visited Baraboo on a Saturday night. I have never been especially impressed with the beer but was surprisingly delighted with a couple of their seasonals. The Hoppy Pale is a Sierra Nevada Pale copy and done quite well. The IPA was especially tasty and again, well done. The food has always been good and still is. I had no problem with the service and enjoyed my visit very much.

Problem is I think Baraboo is having an identity crisis. Is it a brewpub (not enough beer selection), Is it a nightclub (won't work, too boring), Is it a restaurant (food good, but help expensive and hard to get). So, I think the owners need to get back to the basics, great beer and great food. More selection is needed, show you love beer, get some variety. Consistent food, and service. I like the place and have been there many times, but others are attracting me for the beer (Dragonmead, Kuehnenn brewery), and restaurants are a dime a dozen if the beer aint special!

The beers (ales) lack any real flavor. I have never had a ale (until now) that loses it flavor seconds after it passes your palate. I have taken my family there 3 times now and the food has been cold 2 out of three times. The service was poor and they were not even busy. It is a shame. Because the are the only brewery in the area that I know of. Maybe that is it. They have no competion and therefore settle at being a so-so brewery/restaurant.

I'm sorry to say that the Baraboo is slipping on their waitstaff service. i went their after work with some coworkers in the barstool area, and our overweight waitress would walk by our empty glasses without looking, as if she didn't care. Usually, we have very good service, especially in the 'sitdown' area. However, the Las Vegas reviewer is right, a few of the lady bartenders are friendly and/or quite attractive. They are back to 2 seasonals and 4 standards, which is disappointing, as the seasonals change somewhat infrequently. However, it is hard to beat 1/2 appetizers & $1.00 off beer from 3-6 p.m., 7 days a week, making the Baraboo an excellent after work stop. The Entertainment Book now has three discount coupons, if you can't make it during happy hour. Finally, they are running excellent weekday specials.

The Baraboo has a fun atmosphere. If they could pick up the quality of the other beers to match the Porter (which is always very good) they could really improve the overall impression of the place with craft beer lovers like thos in my homebrew club.

We had a great time at the baraboo. The beer and food were great. Our server was very friendly. We liked the fact that she took the time to have a conversation with us. She was also very knowledgeable about the beer and was able to help us with our selection. The food prices are a bit steep, but the coupons help!! We will definitley be back soon!!!

I really enjoyed going to this establishment until recently. Now it seems that the owner is more interested in hiring big chested waitstaff rather than anyone who could do an adaquate job. It seems to me like there should be a stripper pole installed at the bar!!! The drinks and food are good as long as you are lucky enough to sit in the "right" section on any given night.

Went to pick up carry out. Walked in and thought hostess was just some chick hanging out waiting for a ride or something. When she finally asked me what I wanted, I asked for the server who had taken my order. She came over and said she'd be right back with my food - well, right after she stopped to talk to a group of off duty servers who were sitting there. Fortunately I checked my food (just burgers and fries), and saw the order was wrong. The server just kind of chuckled, but she did go get me some cold, rock hard fries. I have only been to Baraboo twice - and now I remember why it's been a year since my last visit. Burgers were disappointing at best. Yuck.

The Patriot Pale Ale is very good!! Service is OK, waitstaff needs to learn how to handle money though. Never got change from my payment. a 37% tip is not customary, and definitely not automatic. Won't go back there.

I love the beer, but the food has changed in the last year or so, and it is definately not as good as it used to be. Don't get me wrong - it isn't horrible, but the wings are smaller and other little things like that. The service is very hit or miss depending on the day. The atmosphere is great - a wonderful place for drinking and having fun with friends!

As I have stated in previous comments, I'm close to Great Baraboo and frequent it often. You can't lose going there. They now have 3 seasonals on tap, along with their 5 standard beers. They will let you have small samples of beer before ordering a full glass. The seasonals are usually up to snuff (the current Oktoberfest has a strong malt flavor), 1/2 off appetizers, $1 off on pints from 3-6pm every day, free trivia games, and Entertainment Book coupons. What's not to like? The appetizer menu has Nachos (piled higher than you've ever seen; you could make a meal from it!), spinach and artichoke dip (excellent), good potato skins, wings (of course), and a host of other items. I ordered the full slab of babybacks (which were fantastic), and they gave me TWO slabs that were the size of your keyboard from the left edge, up to the numbers, and a foot long each!! Needless to say, I had my lunch for the next day. Waitstaff is usually prompt. If you haven't been there, or been their lately, give it a try. It's a good afterwork hotspot.

Living 1 block from the Baraboo, I frequent the establishment. Monthly brews can be extremely good (Pale Ale & Abbey Dubbel in the last 2 months). The food rarely dissappoints, in both quality and quantity. Service is almost always timely. Menu beers are typical, with the wheat and red topping the list. 3-6 pm, 7 days/wk - 1/2 off appetizers (14 choices) and $1 off beer make it a worthwile trip.
