Had the Ragin' Rye which was on nitro. It was a refreshing beer (within the parameters of Utah's "3.2" beer law). Also tried the Latter Day Stout which is a dry stout. Again, better than expected.
The service was friendly and efficient and the food was very good. I had a paella-like pasta dish which was tasty and filling.
The brewpub is attractive and in an upscale downtown mall called Trolley Square.

Nice place. I came in while it was a slow afternoon. Since I had to walk a couple of miles back to the hotel from here I only had one of their brews, but it was still worth it.
Their ESB was excellent, the cheesecake I got to go was very good later on that night, the service was prompt and friendly, as well as being very nice to look at.
If I ever make it back to Salt Lake, I'm going to make sure I drop by to try more of the brews and food.

If you are a swanky wanker who only lives for trendy night spots with top 40 music stay the "H E double hockey sticks" away from this place. However, if you love great beer and a laid back social atmosphere set in an old brick walled pub fashion. Then Brother come to the old trolley square before some uptight corprate A-hole levels the joint to build a stucko strip mall. Also if you find yourself here in the summer and the Kona stout is available, get it!

My last review was not very good, but glad to report things have changed. I stopped by on a quiet Sunday night so things were a little slow. All the beers I tried were good. Service and food also good. They have several awards hanging from the wall so they must be doing something right with the beer. Worth a stop.

Decent little brewpub at the edge of town. Limited beer selection and food menu, but found the service friendly and attentive. Tried the cask conditioned Pale Ale which was above average and the regular stout (also very good). Worth a visit.

Read my reviews about Squatters and Red Rock only plug in the name Desert Edge. Only thing worse is this place is in a shopping mall, talk about main line!

Visited in July 2000, this place is inside a shopping center. The beer was OK and I guess this was about a standard American brewpub. I'd go again.

We had 4 different people waiting on us while we were there. Service wasn't bad, nor was it outstanding, just different to have that many people taking turns waiting on you. Beer was watery and wasn't worth a second. Food was good but not memorable.

I was there back in Sept 2002. The food was good and so was the service. The beer I had, wheat, was pretty weak and went stale on me by the time I finished lunch. Since beer is what a brew pub is all about, it was one thing they can't mess up and in my eyes at least, they need to make their wheat beer stronger.

Easily the best brewpub in SLC! Had the best and most varied beer styles. Even considering the odd laws(3% alcohol), the beers had good taste and were not watered down.

The Pale was OK. I didn't stay around to try any additional beers as we were rudely informed about the food/beer law in Utah. The service was bad, atmosphere decent, with an outside beer deck.

As residents of SLC, we've tried all the microbrew that this town has to offer, and have consistently found The Pub to have the best! The food and the service is always excellent.

Started with their seasonal cask conditioned "mild" ale and it was one of the best cask conditioned that I have had. Switched to the Utah pale ale and then the LDS Stout, and I agree with the other reviewers that both are very good. My wife enjoyed the pilsner. All of the meals were very good as was the service.

The problem with most Salt Lake brew pubs is their lack of charm in the face of the 3.2 law. I found Desert Edge to be the most compelling and relaxing environment during my last ski trip and the menu was everything I wanted.

Good beer, but suffers from Utah's 3.2% rule. Some of the "bigger" beers lack in the alcohol dept.

The Latter Days Stout is a fine example of this beer style. A recent GABF medal winner if I'm not mistaken. Other beers were not of distinguishable quality.
