Sat at the bar, so service was very good. I had the Abbey, cask IPA, and Dry Stout. All were well made very good for the style. My stuffed pork was excellent. I had been here 2 years ago and recall it being very mediocre, but tonight was very good across the board. Or maybe I'm just being easy since the few brewpubs around here aren't very good.

horrendous customer service from indifferent lying manager. i am never coming here again, and will inform all of my family, friends, and co-workers to avoid this place at all costs! bad enough that people's cars get broken into (where is the parking security?!), i don't need the manager to make me feel worse than i already do!

Gave Faultline a try the other evening. Visited the Sacto version, River City BC, a few weeks back and it's too bad they can't melt the two together. River City's got the action of a mall. Faultline has a lock on the computer industry that surrounds it. And that's why Faultline is closed weekends. Too bad. Decent beer. No hard alcohol. Went through a pint each of the Oktoberfest, Best Bitter(N2) and the Stout(N2). The best of the three was the Bitter. Just looked good churning in the glass ,like an albino Guinness. And the Stout was definitely better than what River City put out. Not your standard pub grub on the dinner menu. Sorry folks! No burgers and fries here. Had a big plate of seafood gumbo that made the whole visit worth while. Nice place but not "a must" on the hit list.

I was very happy to discover Fault Line during a business trip to the South Bay Area. I was treated to a sampler of 12 beers. I was particularly fond of the IPA and Belgian Tripel. The Abbey Ale was decent, and the cask-conditioned ale was quite good. The stout needed a little more flavor, but was still palatable. I was quite happy with the food (seabass with tempura vegetables for less than $20) and the service was attentive at the bar. In general, I recommend a visit.

It's been quite a while since I've been here. Don't know why but intent to return more often. Tasted the Bitter (good) the IPA (very good) and the Stout (very good). Many additional brews on tap. Menu looked great but I kept it simple with a burger which was fine. Nice atmosphere.

Large selection of beers on tap. I had the alt (decent), pale (bland), and IPA (very good - more like a typical APA). Food is upscale and our service was very good.

This is the same as the brewery in downtown sacramento, just has a different name. THis place is great and looks out over a lagoon and is very nice. I liked almost everything about it. Problem is that it took me about five years before I could get into the place as it mostly is only open during the week. Weekend hours are restricted if not non-existant.

The beer was generally good, the heff was wonderful. Food was great. This place is only open M-F and they close at 9:30. As as result, I would say it's not so great as it is worth a trip out of the way.

Holiday Ale - Since this beer is now likely a few months old, it shows. So it's probably not a fair fight, but this beer is losing. For a beer style that is characterized by strong flavors, often spiced, this beer is not a good match. It has no spice flavors or aroma, no hop profile, only malt, which is indicative of a beer that's been hanging around way too long.

Kolsch - A very light beer, not much in the aroma, but citris in the finish. A slight balanced hop flavor makes this a very good beer.
Hefeweizen - After I quickly removed the lemon, saving the beer from destruction, I realized why it was there. This is the most boring Hefe I've ever had. Very slight wheat flavors, but almost nothing that would make it a Hefe - almost no banana or clove flavors.
Pale Ale - A British style pale, this was ok. Mild flavors make this very drinkable. Slight hop flavors in the finish, otherwise a fairly plain beer.
IPA - Pretty good. A solid Pale Ale and _could_ probably pass for an IPA, but it's profile is a little thin.
Best Bitter (Nitro tap) - An acceptable beer. Mostly unremarkable other than some hop flavor late in the finish. A fairly watery bitter.
Belgian Abbey - One of thier better beers, flavorful with sweet, rich flavor. Not really smooth, it has some strange bite characteristics.
Lodon Porter - This is claimed to be "London style". Possibly the reason it comes across a bit weak for Americans. It's a little watery but still has fairly acceptable flavors typical of a porter. A little extra roast and not as much sweet as one would expect from a Porter, but maybe that's what they were going for.
Holiday Strong - This is what the IPA should be. Plenty of hops. Unfortunately, it's not a strong beer. It's missing sweetness and the warm feeling from high levels of alcohol.
Stout (Nitro tap) - Now this is a perfect beer. A perfect dry stout with a good, solid roast flavor, light hopping, and very mild sweetness. Thier best beer.
Best Bitter (Cask) - This is one of the better cask beers I've had. A good match of beer style to the delivery of cast beer. The Bitter had a nice flavor profile with balanced malt and hop flavors. These came across very well from the cask.

I've been going to Faultline over the years when I've traveled to San Jose on business. When I first went back in the late 90's, the beer was pretty good and the food was somewhat sub-par. However, I'm happy to say that this place has steadily gotten better over the years in both the beer and food catagories. I recently went and had several of the beers which were all good to excellent. A seasonal beer, the Winter Warmer, was outstanding! The IPA was also great and very well done to style. They even had a cask conditioned British style ale on tap. The food has definitely improved and I look forward to my next trip back so I can go again!

Great atmosphere, very friendly staff. Sampled 5 brews of 10 available, but lost track of which was which. All were very good though. I highly recommend the barley wine. Nice view outside as well.

Stopped here on a business trip - happened to be Game 3 of the World Series. The place was busy, of course, but I found an empty bar stool. Service was very friendly and quick. I only ordered the calamari and some wings, and both were very good. Tried the Belgian Blond and the Pale Ale - liked the Pale Ale much better than the Blond. A good place to go if you're in the area.

Nine house beers available, including two on cask. I arrived later in the evening and just ordered sample sizes of five different beers. My problem was they just did not seem very different from each other....a Vienna, a pale ale, an ESB, a brown ale (another that I can't remember now)....they should have been more distinguishable in both color and flavor from each other than they were. None of the five made a strong statement.

Really good food in the restaurant half of the establishmnet; the beer however, is lame at best. The service at the bar sucks and those behind it will try to short you on your change, assuming you're some brain-dead stooge from one of what's left of the dot coms. I live across the street and still would rather travel and get a decent brew. On the other hand, I would have dinner there...it's just I rather have a good beer with it.

Large selection, though they tend toward the lighter end of the style spectrum. The quality leaves a bit to be desired, though there are a couple decent beers.

The place certainly looks great but completely lacks the service. I've been there twice as well as hosted a company holiday party there and the service was terrible. I had to wait at least 15 minutes just for them to take my order. Once I got my beer and food, I realized it was not worth the wait. I didn't bother to order a second drink because my buzz from my first drink was gone due to the time lapse in between drinks. In any case, the place has potential. They should invest more money on hiring professionals. Better service = more customers.

Absolute shiet service. Must be a high turnover of drinkers.... I avoid going there now. Takes ages to get a drink, then the person serving needs to take a look at his manners. Snacks were crap, not sure about the main courses.... I didnt want to try my luck. Better off at a 7-11 .....

The beers are extremely good, and the food has to be rated as nothing less than Gourmet! A wee pricey on the food side, but worth every cent. I wasn't complaining since it was a business trip. The place itself is absolutely smashing inside. Lots of wood, high ceilings - very inviting - and very popular place after work, so get there early.
An absolute must!

I was there several times and I liked it always. Coming originally from Germany I spent 2 evenings with a German friend. Well we tried all the different beers and although you can not really compare them to German beer, we both found them very tasty and above average. Food is also good here. I can't confirm the negative observations of others. Waiters and service was good whenever I was there.

I faithfully use "pubcrawler.com" as a guide to picking out the better brewpubs. Reading the previous reviews, I listed Faultline as "maybe". My hotel was near so I came for dinner with 5 others. I would rate this to be one of the best pubs i've ever been to. The selection of beers was great, beer quality, service and food were good and the staff went out of their way to accomidate us even after arriving shortly before closing time. Anyone can have a bad day but, I was very shocked while writing my comments to read some of the bad reviews. I went there 3 times between Oct 22-28,1999. The only negative was the closing time seemed a little early. It was always enjoyable and I would go back anytime in the San Jose area. The location was good and I/ we were well taken care of. I go to many brewpubs all over the country and try to find new ones. This one deserves a good review.
