One of the coolest places I've ever been. Golf and brewing on the same premises - spectacular. Standard McMennamin's food & beer. The pool hall is very nice.

After two trips to this place, I am boycotting McMenamins. On the first trip, I waited 45 minutes for my sandwich while my date had her meal and ate it. On my second trip, our group was told we'd have a table in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later, we were told it would be 20 more minutes. After an hour and a half we were told our table was being cleared, but the kitchen was backed up and it would be 30 to 45 minutes to get our food. McMenamin's beer is lousy, often feeling unfinished and unrefined, like my first few batches of home brew. There are usually only 5 beers, and I had to walk all over the complex to find a tap with IPA (as I don't like the frity-tasting Ruby). There are plenty of good places in Portland to go. Avoid bad service and bad beer found at most McMenamins.

Try terminator stout and hammerhead ipa. Food is also good and reasonably priced. Lodging is ok but rooms are noisy, drafty.

Great time! Cool art everywhere, spent over an hour just looking at it... Hammerhead package is a great deal- awesome room! Dinner at the Black Rabbit was excellent- very good service, service not so good at the Power Station- my only negative comment. Little Red Shed is a must see. We'll be back this summer!

Walk around inside. There are some really interesting works of art. The beer and theater are great not to mention the food. I now live in Texas. I lived in troutdale for 20 years I miss edgefield. When I visit Oregon I always stop for a beer and buger.

This place is a work of art.A lot was put into this place. This was originaly a poor house and farm from the early 1900's.It is a brewery, winery, inn, upscale resturant and pub all on the same grounds. We went to the powerhouse pub. An old brick building, much in its original shape. The porter is excellent. The food and service was great. A must stop when in Portland

Let me second Mr. Browder's opinion. We only had one night at Edgefield, but found it beautiful, relaxing, and TASTY! Beer and food was great and the regular rooms come with a FULL (and I mean full) breakfast each day. Book in here as it is handy to Portland and to the Columbia River Gorge. Speaking of the Gorge, don't forget Full Sail up in Hood River.

Magical place with one of the best IPA's I have had...I love hops! Unfortunately, the IPA is only one of several that seem to whimsically alternate on the menu. Staying here was one of the most satisfying vacation experiences I have ever had. If you are wavering, MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS NOW!

This was the first place that I visited while in Oregon. The layout and concept of the grounds are great! The beer quality is another thing. The beers are very generic as far as the brewpub scene is concerened. If I would recommend any of the beers, it would have to be there stout.

WOW what a place. Had the pleasure of staying there as well, after closing every pub on the premises! Nice rooms, great beer, wine, and whiskey. A BREWTOPIA for sure. They also offer less expensive dorm/hostel style rooms for under $25. a MUST STOP!!!!

If you're reading this review you are probably considering whether or not to visit. DO IT!!! There's isn't much I can add to the previous review. Edgefield has to be experienced to be appreciated. If you have ever swung a club the golf course is really fun. Take lots of balls! There again, you may find as many as you loose. Considering how much food is included (both dinner and breakfast) the Hammerhead package is a very good deal. Check out their website for all the particulars. Go to Edgefield...go to Edgefield...go to Edgefield...

It's tough to give a single rating (even for 'beer selection' to Edgefield, because it has so many choices. They have a full bar at the Black Rabbit restaurant, the Distillery, the sports bar with the TV (only one on site--yeah!), and the Powerhouse. But they also have whiskey & beer at the Little Red Shed (the smallest free standing bar in the USA). Oh, did I mention the winery and wine tasting bar? It's one of the few hotels in the world with a brewery, winery, and distillery. They may not have TVs, running water, or phones in the rooms; but this is still my type of place.
What's new? The distillery is making Old Trough Whiskey, Safari Brandy (ouch), and 3 Grappas (nice!). They've opened an 18-hole par 3 course; the first 9 are easy, with the pin in sight, the back 9 are tough, with plenty of opportunity to lose balls in the 12' high raspberry thickets! Food at the Black Rabbit is great, it's burgers & fries at the Powerhouse. I recommend kicking back and wandering the halls of the hotel, taking a tour to understand the imagery behind the fanciful murals covering every inch of the walls, and trying to taste one of everything!

To Ray and David and other. My earlier review had the word typical in it in a sarcastic mode, and should have been "typical". Obviously it is one of the most unique, fun places to hang out etc. No matter where my business is in the Portland area, Edgefield is ALWAYS (no sarcasm intended) where I stay. Check out their website for some great package deals. The other B&B/brewpubs I know of are in Fredericksburg, Texas, North Woodstock, NH, and Calistoga, CA. All great places, but do not compare with Edgefield.

I don't know about Tim, but I have never seen a "typical Bed and Breakfast, upscale restaurant, movie theatre, brewpub and grub, winery, and many other things joint" anywhere that I've ever been (and I lived in Texas myself for awhile). I thought that it was a great place and anything but "typical". If there are other places like this around, I would definitely like to know where they are.

Edgefield is your typical Bed and Breakfast, upscale restaurant, movie theatre, brewpub and grub, winery, and many other things joint. This is a place where everyone, no matter what they like will have a great time. The beers are very solid, not spectacular, but the entire grounds are awesome, and make it a place you just don't want to leave. I would highly recommend staying at Edgefield when visiting Portland.

You haven't experienced Edgefield unless you have *stayed* at Edgefield. You simply owe it to yourself to book a long weekend there and do nothing but lounge around the estate and try the home grown beer, wine, and even distilled spirits.
