A very attractive pub both inside and out. The wait staff seemed in tune with the crowd and were friendly, but the bar staff seemed snippy. Unfortunately my ratings reflect that as I was particularly put off but some of their comments to other folks in my party.
The Red Burly Irish Ale was what I expected and I would liked to have had another, but sensed we were on Mitzi's nerves so didn't dare ask. As I was about to leave another girl happened by and asked if I wanted anything, so I got a small Ethan Alien "Vermont Logger" and it was good as well.
Sorry to be slightly down on the place but we hit American Flatbread after this and, well, just read the review. Some people can handle busy and some can't.

We have found this to be a consistently great place for great beer, particularly styles from the British Isles. Usually there is something on cask and the balance of the selection will generally satisfy various tastes (e.g. usually a weiss bier for my wife). From my travels this establishment is a planned stop. Prost!

Stopped for a lunch. IPA was fine, Imperial IPA was better, more like a Northwest IPA. Stout was thin, Stout/Raspberry mix was overpowered by the raspberry. Mazern had nice malt flavor. Food was better than I remembered. Service was typical for area.

VP&B has the look of a well financed touristy kind of spot. There is outdoor and indoor dining and a nice bar area.
We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day. Tasted a Red ale, brown, IPA, a wheat beer, smoked porter, and an Alt. All were decent beers. Nothing extraordinary but nothing bad either. The smoked porter didn't have much smoke character. If it is there, it is subtle. I ended up ordering a pint of the IPA and enjoyed it with a delicious sheppard's pie. I walked away pleased.
As a previous poster mentioned, this is nothing that you can't get at most any other decent brewpub around the nation. We did enjoy the food and beer. And prices were reasonble. That is about all you can ask for. One gripe I have with this, and most other, brewpubs is the lack of knowledgeable wait staff. Like so many other brewpubs, our waitress was totally ignorant of what went into their beers. I like to ask about the beer I am drinking and received blank stairs to my questions. Too bad, a knowledgeable staff can go a long way in improving a customers' experience.

When the Vt Pub and Brewery first opened, the microbrew pubs were a very new thing and everyone thought this was a great brewpub. Many years have gone by I now realize that the beer at this place is not as good as advertised. There are around 5 beers that they always have on tap and they all have the same "watery" characteristic. They will have seasonal beers on tap, but very often even though they are on the beer menu, there is no more left and I then have to get my normal Dogite Bitter. It's a nice hoppy beer but pretty watery. Most first timers enjoy the red ale, but that also gets old after a while.
The food, service, and atmosphere are very good, but you can get much getter beer quality and selection most everywhere in town.

A nice experience, the beers aren't anything above the average US brewpub selection, but that isn't a criticism, your brewpubs are splendid. All in all good beers, food & service, something your town should be proud of.

As long as people enjoy drinking beer this brewery will flourish forever. With its live music almost every night, either inside or out, your bound to be entertained. To compliment the beer, the food that they turn out is above the average. With nice size portions and award winning entrees, youll find that the beer isnt the only thing worth trying at this brewery. Now about the beer. If your not used to the tradtional european practice of brewing your going to want to stick to the IPA or dog bite ale. To the beer afficinado this is a must on your to visit guide. They craft a true classic style of dark beers & pilsners. Along with the great staff this establishment is has alot to offer!

We visted twice this passed weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the place. Food was very good and extremely reasonably priced. I tried the Irish Red Ale and the Stout. Found both to have good flavor but lacking a bit in body. The place was packed both nights, definitely a hot spot in Burlington. I will definitely be back next visit.

We spend last weekend in Stowe Vermont and took a day trip to Burlington. I stop to Burlington is never complete until you have a pint or two at the VT pub & brewery. The bartender on Saturday afternoon, I can't remember her name, was great and the beers were excellent. There are many breweries in Boston but Vermont is still the best.

For the past 3 or 4 years I've been a frequent customer of the pub and brewery. The beer varies depending on the season but I have found that there are always a few good ones on the menu. My particular favorite is the Irish Stout. Ask the server if its available straight from the cask, it's worth it. It goes down smooth and is very easy to drink. Before you know it 7 or 8 have gone down the hatch and you are ready to head out visit the rest of the fine establishments that Burlington has to offer. In the summer the live bands can be quite entertaining. Lots of Dead, Phish, and other hippy rock covers. For a small town some of the talent is surprisingly good.

This was my first stop at a brewpub and since then I relate my experiences back to this night. We were heading out for dinner and I noticed their sign and said lets go in. Their beer was nice, with a good selection. I found the fact that they offered cask pulled beer as in the tradition of English real beer to be a treat. I of course order this right away. The bitter they offered was good. It flowed smooth across the tounge with a light mouthfeel and right into the back of the mouth. In the tradition of English bitters the taste was mellow and well rounded. Enough malt to hint at a sweetness with enough hop just to slightly suggest a bitterness when quaffed. It was a light red color with a beautiful white pillowy head. The other beer I tried was the IPA, it was distincly American. It was robustly hoppy without turning the tounge and had an inherit sweetness provided by what must be an ample amount of crystal malt. It was a darkish red color with suggestion of gold tinge and when poured it pick up a tall head of tinged white foam. The food I had was a simple sheperd's pie, and it was quite a generous portion.

I have to laugh at those above that gave Lousy ratings. They must not know what good beer really tastes like. I dare say the smoked porter at this place is the best I've ever had, and I've had quite a few in my years! I also tried the sampler, and I can't believe people say they can't tell the notice much of a difference between the beers. Their taste buds must be shot because I found a huge difference between them all, and they were all top notch beers.

Disappointing. As I usually do, I ordered a sampler;they were bland with very little difference between most of the beers. My wife tends to drink the "lighter" beers up to a brown ale. It says it all when she ordered a "Burly Irish Ale". The IPA and Hopfest weren't that "hoppy", the Dogbite Bitter and Smokey Porter were barely adequate. The food was pretty good. The evening ended by being overcharged for a souvenirdidn't notice it 'til I was leaving a looked at their display case. (I collect one from each brewpub I visit). Those of you that rated this place highly, drive south and try McNeils.

What a wonderous variety of beers on tap. Truely not your typical brewpub. It has a nice comfortable atmosphere. Fast friendly service. The food, at least the burger and fries I had, were good. This is a great little brewpub.

I tried the Saison, which was excellent, the bitter, was good, the IPA was good, and the cask stout was good. The food was very good, gazpacho was the special and was excellent. The service was terrible.
