Definithly a good selection of beers. More of a local hangout than a tourist place. Waitress was more interested in the regulars than a newbie.

Great beer joint with good local microbrews and a selection of Dogfish Head beers. Service was great, though the beer garden was suprisingly dark - almost eerily so. Would definitely suggest this place for any Chicago beer trips.

This is my favorite pub around and I'm not even from Chicago. Whenever I come to town on business, it is always the first place I go. It features a wide selection of unusual micro-brews from the Midwest and elsewhere. Always tasty.

A fine, fine ale house indeed. They get several rare and fine beers in house. Nice inside, a fine back-yard for summer months. Good all-around drinking establishment. Highly recommended.

Clark Street is the ultimate beer bar! The best selection of beers, great bar atmosphere, friendly....what else can I say? I spent 3 nights in Chicago, and visited Clark Street every night, walking several blocks to get there. I felt totally comfortable, even as a stranger, and enjoyed the great selection of local draft beers. It's like "Cheers", only with a much better selection of beers. The old building added to the charm. This is the kind of place I want to own when I retire.

Very nice Digs! But – the music was way too loud to hold a normal conversation, the place reeked with cigarette smoke (being in NY makes you forget what this was like), and the barmaid seemed to not care much (I wasn’t a regular I got the impression).
$4 drafts and a nice lineup, so the price is in line with the offerings. The Great Divide Wild Raspberry Ale was an extremely fresh robust ale busting with raspberry’s. The Three Floyds Robert-the-Bruce Scottish Ale had a most unique nose with absolutely no detractors. It was very dark with nice roasted malt notes behind a robust malt character. On the beer engine was a Bells Two Hearted Ale. Hops, hops and more hops! With that said, it was extremely smooth and didn’t bite back.
This is a classy place. I’ll try to get back (soon) and become a “regular” so I get more than three mille-seconds of attention in-between plopping my beer down and grabbing my dough. If I lived anywhere near Clarke Street I would be in here every night I promise. I forgot to write down how many taps, but one thing I can tell you is that every single one of them are cleaned with care. These were some of the freshest beers I’ve had anywhere.

After The Map Room, this is probably the best beer bar I have visited in Chicago. Good atmosphere - humble folks without pretension always saying "Howdy neighbor..." Always a great selectio, particularly a consistent supply of Three Floyds brews. MMMMM Three Floyds.

Going to Chicago for a 3 day convention. With all the bad reviews on this place we'll skip it. Pet peeve: bartenders who don't serve drinks but find a million other things to do instead. This smells like poor management.

The last three reviewers probably wouldn't know the difference between Bud Light and real beer, but I'm sure the service they received ruined their experience. As for me, I've not once been overcharged or received bad service on my several visits. The beer selection is fantastic and they know how to take care of the beer. No food, but a great place to stop for beer.

Drinks were unexpectantly overpriced, especially when the bartender allows other people to put drinks on your tab. When I asked about the discrepancy, the bartender refused to review the bill with me and also refused to give me my card back until I signed the bill.

Worst bar in Chicago. Not only did they overcharge my tab by $40, they did the same to my friend, and, when I called later to complain to the manager he cursed at me and hung up, telling me I should have tipped better. Go somewhere where they respect your business.

Well, what more do you want than Alpha King on a hand pump, a couple of goodies from Two Brothers, and Sierra Big Foot? Next time in Chicago I may just take a sleeping bag and camp out here. What I REALLY appreciated was the huge air filter hanging from the ceiling that did a great job sucking up all the cigar smoke from the kids in suits sitting at the bar. One of the best beer bars I've found.

GREAT beer bar. Bartender was friendly, and the selection is excellent. I enjoyed Alpha King on handpump; Sprecher Weiss, Capital Doppelbock, and Sierra Nevada Pale on tap. Reminds me of D.B.A. in New York....

I visited this great bar back in 1998 and I'm glad to see it's still popular. Being next door to one of the Blue Chicago clubs just makes it even better. Bob
