Tried the Pilsner, Red Stallion, their dark and the seasonal. All were good, above the mass producers, but not outstanding. The food was fabulous. If you're in the Big Sleazy it's worth a visit.

It was so terrific being back in the Quarter after a long absence, due to Katrina. Crescent City is back, the people have returned to their bar stools, the best oysters we have ever had are back (hallelujah!), and Vern is back shucking those oysters. It was a thrill to walk in that door, as we did many times before, and see him and his wonderful smile. We miss not having our other oyster shucker, Lou, there. Maybe someday he will return. But we are so happy things are getting back to normal in the Quarter. We had our usual - the Black and the Red. They were as good as before. This place is "home."

Despite the less-than-stellar reviews below, this place is worth a try, again! Keep in mind lots of business are STILL suffering the post-hurricane funk due to lack of manpower, and perhaps some other things. We ate at the brewery and had outstanding food. My dinner mate had the grilled tuna - superb. I had the grilled duck - outstanding. The two regular menu items just "reappeared" on the menu a few weeks ago, so it seems things are returning to normal. Oh yeah, check out the blown glass jellyfish lights at the bar, cool stuff. For beers we had the Black Forest - dark, garnet red and full bodied. I wanted to try the Marzen, but had two full 20-oz glasses of Black Forest and that was enough. There was a small jazz quartet up front, and the atmosphere was great. I encourage you to look this place up and check it out.

I am an avid fan of Beer and I was very excited to get the chance to eat at the Crescent City Brewhouse. I ordered the sampler of house brew and I hate to admit, I would only consider the darkest beer of good quality. The visit to the brewhouse would have been fine, had it not been for the food. It was terrible. The steaks were over done and the fish was under cooked. The sides were mediocre in portion size and were only barely warm. Had I not had coupons for buy one get one free entree, I would have been extremely upset. It was over priced for just alright beer and crappy food. I would only recommend that you sample the beer, but don't order the food.

Crescent City is very rare for a Brewpub; they brew lagers rather than ales. I love German lagers, and theirs are very tasty. The dark beer is a classic dunkel, the pilsner has a nice hoppy bite, and the helles bock and malty as it should be. Their only ale, a hefeweizen, is a true German weizen.
The salmon was excellent as well. Louisiana doesn't have "open container" laws. You can get a tasty beer to go, and walk around the French Quarter drinking something with flavor instead of the usual Bud-Miller-Coors choices.

We visited in April and tried three days in a row before we found them open. I was ready to give up, but finally, on Saturday evening they were open. I guess a lot of the places are still having trouble keeping staffed. We are not lager drinkers, but enjoyed the Red Stallion. The only food we had was the wings and they were kind of strange, but still fairly tasty. The artwork on the walls was a nice touch.

Our waiter at Crescent City Brewhouse stole our credit card and used it...
After a pleasant Jazz Fest we brought a home brewing friend out for dinner. We were rushed out because the kitchen closed early. In our haste we forgot the credit card. The waiter, decided to take advantage of our oversight and helped himself to a round at a pub down the street... at our expense.
Not all waiters are evil and dishonest such as ours. Just be aware.

Very good beers. I am typically an Ale lover and 4 of the 5 beers here were Lagars, but I liked them all. I got the sampler (5 beers) Great Black lager, great red, great Wheat (the only ale), great pilsner and OK lite bock.

I've always liked the Red Stallion, although, it did not taste the same in December. One thing I've always liked is their consistency. Like everywhere else here in New Orleans, service is slower than normal b/c of staffing issues. The Hef is very good. Food is ok, but it was better years ago before they went touristy in price and taste.

Due to the Katrina situation they were only offering three beers last night (1/19/06). The Weiss was real good, the pilsner was very light but surprisingly tasty. I decided on the Red Stallion. Real tasty with full flavor. The ribs were not what they were cracked up to be though. I was a bit disappointed. However, I'll go back.

I was at Crescent City about nine days before Katrina hit. I hope that this place will reopen because it is a fantastic microbrewery. The Kolsh was very crisp and the Red Stallion was just wonderful! The Ribs were the best that I have ever had anywhere! My waitress, Shelly, was very nice, very attentative and very attractive and I certainly hope that she is okay. I plan on visiting New Orleans again in 2007 and I do hope that this place will be open and ready to welcome me!

Crescent City is a great place to stop while you're in the Quarter. The beers are decent and they have a good selection on tap. The bartenders are friendly and make great recommendations for meals. The live jazz is a little loud but hey, it's New Orleans.

Pretty nice, all things considered. In the middle of tourist hell you would expect some corners would be cut. That's not really the case here. The beers were fair, with the seasonal "Tomahawk" attempting to shoot some hops (only semi-successfully) into the line up. Not such a good selection, although I find it interesting that a schwarzbier was on the menu. The space is very cool, though. Worth a stop, but bring your piggy bank.

On Decatur in the heart of the quarter, so you know it's expensive! I ordered two beers, with tip it cost me $15!! They were large beers, but still ... the red was grainy and nondescript and the porter was acceptable but not exceptional. We had one and left.

An enjoyable alternative to some of the Bourbon Street establishments. Both food and beer were average. Like I said, it's nice to depart from Cajun food for awhile...

Great location, but the beer is average at best. The food is good, but overpriced. Too many great places in New Orleans and especially the Quarter to waste time here.

The "big fella at the end of the bar cracking oysters" refers to Vernell. We have sat at the end of the bar with Vern dozens of times. He is friendly, customer oriented and thoroughly professional. If you have problems with Vernell, the problems are yours, Not Vern's.

Like a previous post said, New Orleans needs more brew pubs down in the Quarter. Was glad to find this one. Good beer, though like everything in New Orleans it was a bit pricey. Stear clear of the big fella at the end of the bar cracking open oysters. Not the most sociable or friendly guy.

A great party town like New Orleans should have more brewpubs in the quarter. Cresent City didn't have enough selection on tap for me(4 regulars with 1 seasonal I believe.) I agree that the food is good but pricey. The beer is so-so but pricey. I tried the Black Forest, Red Stallion and their hefe-weizen and was slightly disappointed because I had high expectations. The black beer was ok but the red lager was a little weak. Then I saw that I had paid $5 for each of my large drafts. The beers just weren't good enough to pay that much at the place where it should be the cheapest to serve. In that sense they are the typical Decatur street restaurant gouging the tourists. If the beer was really good, I'd pay the $5 and drink lots of it. But it's only ok.

I went to this place in April 2004. The special beer was an IPA. I've been attending the French Quarter Festival in April for 10 years and this is the first time the brewpub had an IPA as the seasonal. The other beers they serve are fine but the IPA is by far the best beer I've had at this brewpub. It is much better than Abita Amber, which is the micro they serve everywhere else in the Quarter. It's a bit too sweet and probably should be labeled a pale ale but please go there and order it. Encourage them to keep making beers like this.

Very consistent quality. The best beer in New Orleans. Beer is somewhat bland for my tastes. I've only visited in when the hefeweizen has been the special brew so I can't comment on the other specials. The hefeweizen is a good warm weather beer though.

Wow, the only brewpub around and not so great. I am used to finding great beer, NOLA did not do it. After only finding the Abita beers "ok to weak" we went to Crecsent for a hopefully uplifting brew. The wheat was okay, not good or great, and the balck forest was better, but not great. I enjoyed the food though pricey. New Orleans needed to get some better beer. This is a BUDMILCOORS town. The Abita Amber tasted like MGD, Voodoo Blackened Lager, hard to find. Make better Beer abd they will come
