The food here is Great. Beer while not in the great/awesome category is good. A little more malt would really add to the body.

With Pike and Pyramid nearby, don't bother. Nothing bad, but it is very average when compared to the choices just blocks away!

Finally, 3rd time is a charm. Aside from their normal offerings (which I haven't been terribly impressed with previously, this time they had an IPA, A Malt Lager and a Whiskey Stout, which were very good. Service was great by a guy whose name I didn't get. Food (crapcakes and the nachos) was tasty and not rushed.

I generally don't go to the chain pubs, but I have now been to 4 different Rock Bottoms & all were pretty good. Unlike some of the other chains (like Ram) that force the brewers to brew the same (& in Ram's case - awful) beers, each Rock Bottom has different versions of their staple Wheat, Lite, Red, Brown & Stout. The Seattle location's versions of the regular beers are pretty good, though the Hefeweizen at other locations is an American wheat here & the Brown Ale is a little bland & doesn't have any of the Scottish style notes a number of others have. The nice thing is that there are always a few seasonals & the brewers generally shine when it comes to those. The Stout was a nitrous pour the day I was there & it was nice, the IPA was excellent, in the grapefruity, flowery style. There is also a very good barley wine on tap. In many other cities this would be an excellent choice, but in Seattle (or Portland) I think of it mostly for convenience to downtown. The food isn't bad, but it definitely isn't anything special (although I like the salmon fish & chips). The service that I have gotten has always been excellent, however & there are a lot of places in Seattle that is not true of.

Just got in from a great afternoon in Seattle. Saw Flower Drum Song @ 5th Avenue and stopped at Rock Bottom for lunch. Service was great...atmosphere was even better. I spent $20 for a Wild Mushroom Burger, Reisling and tip. But, I've got to tell you how awful the burger was. There was unappetizing grissel in every bite, making it fairly inedible. Thanks for listening. Valerie

There pale ale was pretty impressive. A nice full-bodied ale, with a surprisingly light, but great hoppy taste. The rest of the ales where typical of what should be expected from a microbrewery. With all this said keep in mind the Rock Bottom is a chain of microbreweries. I not sure if the brewmaster is a true brewmaster in the aspect that he can craft recipes how he see fit and again maybe he is. I really can't comments on the food csince it was all catered for a wedding rehearsal dinner, but it was okay. Although the ribs where truly outstanding. The meat fell of the bone.

In town for Wrestlemania and our hotel was near by. Really enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere. Drank the beer called "Daylight" and even took a couple jugs of it back home. FIrst time to a brewery but I will ba back. Hopefully to a Rockbottom!

I was in town visiting my brother and we stopped by here for a beer. I really enjoyed sampling the beers at the bar, and the bartender was very accommodating. I would definitely come again on my next trip to Seattle.

As a local resident, I keep trying Rock Bottom's around the area thinking that I must have hit them on a bad night.
The food is good, but the service is _too_ fast. I rated it "good" because they are attentive, and some folks may like quick service. How quick? Appetizer on the table about 3 minutes from ordering, and Fish and chips on the table about 4 minutes after that. That's too quick. I prefer to sit and work on a beer, eat the appetizer and talk to my dinner companion.
Beer wise.. I've never been impressed with their beers. They seem too "pedestrian", like the brewmaster didn't want to go the extra mile (foot even!) and really "hit" it. In this area of the country, the beer competition is fierce. You gotta push the edge and get some taste happening to stand out.

Tried this place again after a Seahawk game. The Pale Ale at least had a taste to it. The nachos need a little more cheese and salsa that doesn't taste like marinara sauce. They lost the sale of 4 more beers and possibly more food when they wanted to charge $10 per hour to play pool. One of the cheapest establishmets I've ever been to.

My 1st time there was 8-23-2002. Tried the stout. Great brew. Any stout drinker will like this. There was a going away party for my daughter, w/ a party of approx. 15 people. Our waitress was awesome.

Whenever I'm in Seattle, I make a point of stopping into the RockBottom for at least a beer or three. I will admit though that the Bellevue establishment has a better atmosphere.

I usually try to avoid the chains and today's visit reinforced that opinion. I tried the Rain City Red and have no idea what I was drinking. There was some kind of taste but it was neither hops nor malt. Next was the Brown Bear. Tasted quite a bit like water with a hint of coffee. The stout was the best of three. It may not have been perfect but at least it had flavor. For dinner I had the baby back ribs which were quite good although the mashed potatoes were cold right out of the kitchen. The kicker was when the waitress offered my friend a taste of one of the beers and then charged us 5 cents for it. That was really a cheap shot! I guess it's the bottom line that matters.

I went on theater night with a co-worker. I tried a couple of beers when she ordered a bottle of merlot. The waitress promply sprayed my co-worker with wine (a red wine for you serious beer drinkers) when she shoved the cork in the bottle. It went downhill from here. On the plus side they did send her a gift certificate after she mailed a letter due to our experiance.

These places have broken the multilocation BP stereotype and are experimenting with many different beers. Cigars at the bar was disappointing but I recommend stopping since its right up the street from the mega location yuppie stronghold-- Gordon Biersch.

This is an excellent choice for a business lunch, but go before noon or you may have to wait. It has a tasteful decor and the place is clean, so is the wait staff. Outside seating in nice weather. The Yuppie comments are overstated, people of all ages go here which makes it nice. Many bar patrons are too young to be Yuppies. Ages more like 20's-40's for happy hour.

Yes, this is a prime "Yuppie" spotting ground but I found the beer, food, and service worthy. There were 7 of their beers on tap. My favorites were the Raccoon Red and the Brown Bear Brown. This place is right across from the 5th Ave Theater. Watch out for the before and after theater crowd!

This is part of the big chain that is getting to be everywhere. Located in a big, fancy downtown office complex and shopping center with access to main street. Atmosphere is standard wood and brass with harried, but polite and efficient servers. Beers are up to par. Try the porter.
