Yes, Virginia, this place does exist and they are serving their own beers. It is a strange little place with little or no signage so you pretty much have to know what you're doing to find them. The beers were all OK but nothing really stellar. In another market they might have really great beer but they're in Portland, OR. where the bar is so high that beer that is just "good" really isn't going to stand out. I hope they continue to work at their craft and I look forward to returning in the future and seeing how they're coming along. As as been noted in these reviews, they have been trying to get this venture off the ground for a long time. The least you can do is stop by and check it out for yourself.

Here's a report, after the _informal_ tasting Room and Cafe opening week.

I dropped in at the new 9th Street Public House Tasting room 3 times last week for $2 Pints. One of the Bitter Ales sold out, and 4 other brews were being served on Wednesday. The English Pale Ale is well worth the visit, IMO...and should be on Tap at NW Bars, instead of stale, pricey Boddingtons. Yamhill Brewing's ales are unfiltered, yet crafted to be absolutely clear. They are NOT Clones of what everyone else is making.

Sly's Pub Cafe is Open, and the Brewer/Chef (Sylvester Miranda) is happy to create Entrees for Vegetarians. Currently served at the Tasting Room: Burgers, Fresh Salads, Sandwiches and - get this: Russian Dumplings! Are all a bargain. The Reuben Sandwich I had was fantastic - and just $4 - with chips and all the trimmings. So come on in...

The Ninth Ave Public House's Tasting Room & Cafe opens at 3 PM most days, & 2 on Saturday. Soon the Cafe will also be open for lunch. Book a Tour with Brewer Tim Glenn to get lots details, or join an Oregon Brew Bus visit.

Brewery Owners may empower another biz by adding on-site wine-tasting soon - by sharing cooler and Co-location space, as they have done before. A Winery area is ready with LOTS of cool storage, a separate Tasting Bar, and event space, on the East side of the 10,000 sq foot Brewery, with separate doors facing SE Yamhill Street.

Kegs and Party Rooms can be Reserved NOW - for the Oregon Brew Crew, team meetings, and music events, by calling this correct number: 503-232-1908.

You can also join a new Friends of YamhillBrewCo list at Yahoo Groups. Go there or send me an email I'll add you to the Party Invitation/Update List. Other Brewers are invited too, as this Brewery is not really competing head-to-head with other Brews. (Who else in town does an excellent English Pale Ale?)

I've taken at least 7 Kegs of Yamhill Brewing Comapny Ales to parties over the past 2 years. *ALL* of my Guests say they LIKE the Brew. Every time.

Being a Portland Brew-SNOB and an avid bitter-drinker (like most of you) I won't drink a Pint unless I LIKE the Taste. They have your beer.

Yamhill's Engineer-Brewmaster makes the ONLY Blonde Ale that I've *ever* liked. That's the plain truth. So I want more of Oregon's Best Blonde Ale...at the Pub and to take to events, as I have already. I'm taking a Growler over to SE 9th/Belmont tonite. Regular Pint price is just $3! So the Thanksgiving Bitter they are serving now is a Bargain. (and NO dorky spices get in the way of your IBU happiness - just good beer using quality NW and European Hops)

A note about unfair posts. Years ago some already-swilling guys dropped to wheedle free back-room beer, raw or not. This expectation slowed the budding brewery's progress during an extensive remodel. Some guys would hang around even when YBC workers were trying to prepare equipment for other Breweries. No more. (And consider the Source on Posts, IMO)

Now that the Tasting Room is Open - your brew is ready. Decide for yourself. I love to support new community-oriented business. Portland Pubsters are part of the evolution of great beer, and will LOVE this really cool new tasting Room, which is fully Accessible. The 9th Street Public House/Cafe now welcomes you - no wheedling (or whining) to get good beer. Just bring 3 bucks and Tip.

Starting Tuesday, Nov 22, 2005 9th Street Public House is the newest place to go. I'll be there. See the Big red Brewery Building - on SE 9th - at Belmont and Yamhill. Free Parking & buses nearby. Re-paved streets are great for Bikes. Hope to see ya.

If there is a "brewery" anywhere, that better embodies the concept and practice of "Karma" it has to be this place. It's understood here in Portland, that the principal of this failed dream, has spent more time draining the efforts of those who surround him, in this venture. The story of the "Brewery that never was" after 10 years of disjointed efforts, has to be one for the record books, if not a industry monthly.

I've always wondered about this place. First they had a sign that read, "Unique beer dock sales". So I stopped in. Should have kept on driving. They had no beer, they didn't know when they were going to have any beer, and none of their products were on anybodys tap-wall. Unique to say the least. I mentioned this place to a customer at the Fish Brewing company. The girl mentioned that she had learned that everybody associated with the owner had had to seek litagation to rid their self from him. I don't know the other side to the story, as there has to be one, but my oh my, it was one of the weirdest commerical experiences I've ever had, walking into and out of this Yamhill Brewing company.

Not sure what to say about this enterprise. Folks have spoken poorly about the product and their marketing. It is or will be another example of another alcohol induced dream that ran itself off the road. It takes more than dream and surplus stainless steel however. I understand their downfall was personalities with no understanding of logistics or project followthrough

I tried some of this estabilishment beer at the Alberta Public House in portland. Only thing I can say. Have the Brewer check his horse's kidneys. Very amateur and poor beer.

This place weird's-me-out. One of the grubby dudes who hangs around who claimed to be the "owner" was very dirty and drooling drunk. He told me that they have no product, but they must have some...... being that blitzed. Or mabey they have a keg of Henrys in the back.

Not trying to be hard on these guys but something seems a little oUt-a-wAcK here. 6 years "building" a brewery, with no product? How long will the IRS allow someone to claim a loss before they wonder where the money is coming from? I've seen several drunk Russian types hanging around there in new cars and fine threads.... Something's very very fishy here.

THis place is defunct. The phone has been disconnected with no new number. I actually went to this "brewery" and spoke with the owner. He was very grubby and told me he had no beer for sale, nor could he tell me where to find his product. He seemed more interested in working on dairy tanks. A winery has taken a large amount of the building space. This brewery should be taken off the map.

I've gotta agree with the 8/9 response. I tried some of the Yamhill ESB at the Dublin Pub and it definitely tasted like beginners homebrew. This is the only place that seems to carry Yamhill products. I've never seen Yamhill's beer at any of the local beer festivals. I also have tried to call the brewery about buying kegs and never got anyone to answer the phone. All the other breweries seem kinda hush-hush over this place.

Does this place really exist? We went by several times and no one was there at the brewery. There seems to be some construction going on but no one answers the phone. I tried some of the beer at a pub and it tasted like it was infected.
