We visited on 11/3/2007. It is out of the way like the other reviews have stated but it was definitely worth the effort. They had a good amber ale on tap that I thought was very smooth. My wife enjoyed the cream stout. We had a sampler and felt that it was a good range of beers. The food was good and filling. They were very busy, but the wait staff stayed on top of things. If we are ever in the area again, we will visit again!

The beers are better than Bud or Coor's but that's about it. I had a sampler and couldn't tell the difference between the Alt, Best Bitter, Glacier and IPA. All had what appeared to be exactly the same color. The best I tried was the Ottowi Pale Ale. I'd go back for that. The whole place needs a good cleaning and or sprucing up. Being from the east Coast and having access to Jewish Delis, I always thought a "Rueben" was some rye bread covered with about a pound of of corned beef, a ton of sauerkraut and and melted swiss piled six inches high and open faced. I did not like the Rueben as presented at Second Street. But maybe it's only me. I liked the place anyway. I'd NEVER give a bad reccomendation based upon a single visit.

Fabulous IPA. Scotch Ale great. Tuna salad nichoise was excellent. I would go back in a heartbeat and I'm five hours away!

I had a great time here! The day I visited, the place was full of beer tourists from across the country all sporting their gear. Many of us wandered from table to table asking where everyone was from and comparing notes.
This place is definitely a destination for locals and those seeking good beer, not not for the typical tourist. It is out of the way and hidden in a more industrial part of Santa Fe.
I loved the IPA, pale ale, nut brown and the stout.
The food and atmosphere were great. Service was tough but they were a server short. Live music, too!

Great locals place away from the touristy part of Santa Fe. They were out of the IPA, which came highly recommended. The Imperial Stout was VG, others ok to good. We had the BBQ special, which was decent. They have an interesting menu.

I was here in Feb 2005... according to my journeal the IPA was excellent and the green chili chicken stew was great! I'm rarely passing through but make a point of coming here when I am.

Love the beers, fun drunks on the patio, place could use a daily cleaning tho and some of the staff could be nicer to all customers, not just the ones they don't know! Great music!

This is the "day late and a dollar short" review. I was here in May of 2001 and have to say it was a welcome site for a weary traveler. I sat at the bar and the IPA was fabulous. It's hard to find great beer in the Soutwest, but this place is great. As to those who say it's hard to find, Um....I think it's near 2nd street. Enjoy.

Went here last week with 3 coworkers. Very crowded for a cold and snowy night.
Had to have the IPA-just a great beer as advertised so I had two.
Bitter-nice English style beer true to style.
Porter-similar to a Russian Imperial stout. What a superb winter warmer.
Definitely a must for the readers of Pubcrawler.
The food was good, not great.
The clientele, well...I'm a happy hippy, take a little trippy...Welcome to Santa Fe.

We visit Second Street on our every visit to Santa Fe. We feel at home as soon as we walk in the door. Great Beers. We hit an IPA contest the last time. Their IPA was one of the best in the South West. Don't forget to stop at Cloud Clift bakery on the way in or out!

This place is so good it's boring to add to the other reports. Don't ever think of not visiting for the feel of a real pub and beers as full of character as Mountain Sun, Oscar Blues, BJ's in Boulder and other breweries of beer joy. There should be a Federal offence for brewpubs like this to run out of the IPA! It happened to me once but the Porter (Stout?) was conciliation. These people love brewing!

Santa Fe's best bet for beer! The IPA and ESB were both out of this world. Two friends and I split a sampler and were pleased with everything except the Irish Red. The food was tasty and came quick and the service was attentive. This place is the yardstick by which all other brewpubs in the Southwest should be measured!

Any time I'm in Santa Fe I always stop by to have a pint of one the best IPA's in the state. Unfortunately it was'nt on tap, but the ESB, and an english style IPA (st. georges ipa) was available when I was there on Friday (1-09-04). Great place keep up the good work!

Unfortunately we got there just before closing. The IPA was great - good and hoppy. I also enjoyed the bitter and the Wit beer.

We hit this brewpub before the String Cheese show on Saturday, kinda disapointed after reading the other reviews. The IPA was not hoppy enough for being dry hopped; it seems they compensated by adding extra malts so the true flavour gets hidden. The ESB was the better of the three that I had, well balanced, good afternoon on the patio beer. The Golden Ale had a nice clean finish. The beers were all drinkable, but none outstanding. The patio is a good place to hang with friends.

I'm a "hophead" so I have to agree with the others that 2nd St.'s IPA is one of the best anywhere. Some days the weather is so nice on the patio, I just want to eat some fish tacos, nurse a few beers and nap with my dog! And their music selection is the best in New Mexico...always on the money!

Definitely a local hangout. Has a hometown feel about it with music of Grateful Dead playing. Friendly staff. Roast beef sandwich was excellent, while the lasagna was 'ok'. A flavorful, sweet, brown-like beer was the Schwarzbier, but I preferred the IPA (hoppy, smooth, nice finish).

This place has a great variety of beers and a good selection of food. Their service is rivaled by no one. It seems everybody there is happy to be there and makes for good times. The patio is the best place to be in the spring or the fall.

The beers were generously hopped (IPA, Pale, ESB, and even the Golden Ale), with a nice roasted stout (and a very similar Porter) to boot. I wish I could've seen a few creative brews (maybe a holiday or scotch ale, Belgian, etc.), but all of the beers they served were well done. The food was solid, and the service was terrific. All in all, a genuine place to stop in Santa Fe that (surprisingly) doesn't smack of tourism.

When I'm in Santa Fe, Second Street is where you'll find me. They have some of the cleanest beers in NM. There's only one other IPA in NM that stands up to theirs. Great atmosphere and food. When in Santa Fe, look up Second Street.

I LOVE Second Street! I've been making the hour drive to go there ever since it opened. Rod and Scottie, as always, make the best IPA in NM - Bar None! Their other brews are aggressive and glorious! You really have to appreciate the poetry of the hop to truly understand Second Street IPA. The purpose of their menu is to soak up some of the alcohol. It definitely does not distract from the taste of the brew... Cool Hippies, great tunes, fun patio next to the RR, IPA so good that you want to make sure you have some casks in your tomb for the next life, too!

We travel allot and always make a piont of finding and trying all of the micro's a town has to offer. This is with out a doubt one of our favorites! They had seven different beers to choose form on the day we where there and the list wasn't filled with whimpy beers. The stout was very good, the IPA was awsome. they had a very good doppple and on and on..we tried all of them and liked them all. This is a must for beer lovers in Sante Fe.
