So so on food is based soley on Pot Stickers. I was really unimpressed mainly because they were deep fried. No fair, I know but it's all I had to go by. The sampler of 8 comes in 6 oz glasses. Way too much. Took 1 1/2 half hours to get through it. Luckily there was a baseball game on. Patrons and workers are fantastic. I was impressed with their Mug Club value. Beers were pretty goood. Really enjoyed the IPA.

We took a chance during a cross country tour and checked this place out on our way back home to Colorado. I had a stout and my husband had an IPA; both were very good. The meal was delicious. We loved the beautiful old building and downtown Des Moines was a happening place. The experience was wonderful, but what impressed us most was the excellent service and attention to detail by the staff and management. They could really discuss beer and brewing. We came in late on a Friday night of the state fair with no room and our server took the time to get us the numbers and directions to nearby hotels. It was great and we will make it a stop on our way through again this summer

Busy on the night we went. Very popular spot. Waited 35 minutes for table but did get to sit at bar for a beer. Would recommend this spot whenever in Des Moines.

Living in the Twin Cities I am somewhat "spoiled" as far as quality & selection...having said this, Court Brewery, located in a historic downtown bld., was a pleasant surprise as per its awesome atmosphere! The IPA, Brown, & Stout were "medium" in-body @ best (although sure are welcome in the "land-of-light")...their Heffe was a notch above ave., & the seasonal (name now escapes me...used Juniper Berries for flavouring) was actually quite unique & a thumbs-up!

Since I work downtown I will usually come to CABCo at least once a week for lunch or after work. Beer selection is great. I especailly like the Raspberry Wheat and the Two Rivers Light. Food here is awesome. They have some of the best wings around. The mug club is a good value too if you go there a lot. For $30.00 you get a shirt, a mug of your own that they keep on sight and then it's yours at the end of the year, and $2.00 refills of said mug which is a 20oz. It pays for itself after about 10 beers. You also get access to beer tapping parties where they have a free appetizer buffet.

We really enjoyed Court Avenue Beer Company on the two times we were there this week. We only tried the IPA and the Oktoberfest, but both were very good. The atmosphere is great - the perfect brewpub atmosphere. Food and service was excellent

The bartender was really cool and provided great service. The beer, however, as reviewed previously, is tasteless and bland. Too bad, because I appreciate the fact that they have cask conditioned ales.

Mmm. Probably the most bland micro I've even been to...and I am very easy to please. I ordered the sampler...tried 8 different beers. Hefe was pretty good. Other than that, bland. They had an IPA with absolutely no (ZERO) aftertaste. I mean, as soon as it went down the throat, you couldn't tell you just had a swig of anything, more-less an IPA!
The wings were great, though...consolation prize.

Court Avenue BC is situated in the historical (1881) Saddlery Building, which is in the "Court Avenue Entertainment District." A spacious and comfortable pub with 8 beers on tap (during my visit)and a popular hangout that plays R&B Music, they offered a very fiery Jambalaya. The service was enthusiastic and efficient. The beers: Topping Pale Ale; it was good but not as hoppy as I prefer; O'Leary's Irish Red, which was my favorite; Pointer Brown Ale, which did nothing for me (the weakest beer I tried); and a Black Hawk Stout on cask, which was a great "dessert beer." All in all, a great place to hang out when in Des Moines, or part of a pubcrawl that includes Racoon River (see my review). PS: They also offered a seasonal Octoberfest - did not try.

Some of the worst beer that I have ever had. As another reviewer said the brown was thin. The food was great but the beer was so bad that I thought that I was going to be ill. Service was good.

On 25 JUN 2004, I had their weizen, and it was much improved compared to my OCT 2002 report. Rates 8/10 where 10 is best. Also their porter, which rates 8/10. Their tenderloin lunch special was very good. Visiting Des Moines during the Arts Festival, which is a first class event.

The menu is very interesting and the food is first rate. Great atmosphere in the bar, on the patio and in the dining area of the restaurant. The view of the brewery and the beer related decorations make a great brew pub experience. The beers on tap, particularly the seasonals, are quite good. Currently the seasonal is a very distictive dry stout. Recent seasonals include a rather unique peated porter and an exeptional Octoberfest. In response to the previous review: I believe there hasn't been a wheat beer at CABCo in years, but Robbie's Rye is a very light and flavourful brew for lighter tastes. Cheers

On 07 OCT 02 I had their wheat brew. Thin, little body, unpleasant after taste. Did not try any other brews based upon that lousy brew.

Rye Beer was very good. They make a pretty mean jumbalaya as well. This is a good place and I would recommend it. What else are you going to do in Des Moines?

Stopped in for the first time in several years. I found the Pointer Brown to be awfully thin and watery, and the IPA was not nearly as hoppy as I'd expect. The beers were drinkable, but nothing to rave about. The food, however, was excellent, as was the service. It's a fine restaurant, but the beers are very ordinary.

Stopped in for a few before and after an Iowa Cubs game. This was my second visit over the past few years. All the beer our group ordered were good. I had the Porter and Brown, both very good. Didn't order any food, but place was busy for supper. Also worth a visit when in Des Moines.

Stopped in during Des Moines street art fair and sampled some breakfast beer. Staff needs to learn their beer selection as they interchanged different beer brands. Be cautious when ordering as the staff could bring you something different that what they should. Interior decor has a nice tribute to old breweries. Only beer sampled was the Wheat (wheat that is, not rye, Mr. Waitstaff) and it could have had a little more flavor. Bar area and restaurant layout are well thought out.

Very nice place. Good pale ale, didn't try the rest. Food was good, service a little slow. The old brewery advertising and tribute to old Iowa breweries is well done.

I loved the atmoshere and it was obvious that they are still doing a lot of improvements. Our waitress told us it would all be finished soon. WOW! It is great to see such a beautiful building and nice establishment be taken care of with so much attentiveness in this country. I am from London and the Court Avenue Brewing Co. made me feel at home. The nightly special was great and the waitress was sharp. Cheers! to the brew master at Court Avenue Brewing Co. Very Authentic!

IT'S BACK! And better than ever. A new owner and original General Manager have brought the excitement back to CABC. The whole place has been refurbished, the beer and food is excellent, and the wait staff experienced and ready to serve. My favorite Brew Pub is open and life is good again
