Great place to get away from the hurried pace of Manhattan. Liked the place so much went on back-to-back evenings catching a sweet sunset over the Hudson both nights. Eight taps were going along with a full bar. Went through a pint each of the Sunset Red, Hop Angel IPA, Pumpkin Ale and the Black Hole XXX Stout(8%). All were great but it was the Stout that made me come back for one more try. Small food menu but had the Buffalo wings both visits. Tasty and tangy. Thank God for Handi-wipes. Chelsea BC will be on my list on future visits to NYC.

For NYC the prices were decent but the food was okay. I have realized that when you visit NYC you get pizza and when you visit Philly, you get cheese steaks. The beer was okay as far as their flagships went but I did find a gem in the seasonals. The Hoppy Holiday was a stellar ale that had a very nice hop taste infused with a slightly sweet after tone with a kick. I found the red typical of most reds to have really no flavor. The ales were okay.
The place was a very cool spot to hang out and have a few brews at and the bartender let me keep my glass.

I had two beers, both the IPA and the Red were above-average beers. What a great place to kick back and watch the sun go down behind the river. The staff was great, friendly and hard working. I enjoyed it so much I hate to point out the negatives. My burger was way underdone, and the place needs a good cleaning. That said, I would go back.

Had the beer sampler. The stout was best followed by the Red and the double hop beer. The wheat was very plain. The food was excellent especially the pretzel basket. I will go back and give the beers another try.

The beers brewed here are of 'simpler' styles (nothing esoteric) but they are all good examples of the styles. Their American wheat and all their stouts are always good and they have an IPA that's double dry-hopped.

I had dinner here on 9/22/05. It was a great location, and I was treated to an awesome sunset over the Hudson River. I had the pizza, it was not too bad. I tried the IPA and the Red. The IPA was the better of the two. I would say the beer here is average. Worth 1 stop.

This was our first stop in New York and the location is just perfect for a pub. It took forever to get service but as soon as a waitress was found, our service was outstanding. The food was not that great but the build your own burger was a nice option. The pub brags a little on the fruit beers they offer. Unfortunately their wheat beer was terrible so adding a little raspberry flavor didnt help. The IPA, the Standard Ale and the Red were good.

We stopped in for a lunch-time appetizer and a few beers. The Henry Hudson IPA was a good, hoppy, bitter, American style IPA. The Solstice Wheat was a pretty decent unfiltered American style wheat beer. My wife had a Raspberry Wheat Ale that was just OK; it really was just a bit of raspberry flavoring added to the Solstice Wheat. The Sunset Red Ale was a very good, nicely balanced amber ale. We ordered some hot wings that were just alright. They had several flavors. We tried the hot buffalo and the Cajun. Neither were very hot; they were rather small and not nearly saucy enough; a bit too dry. If I don't go through at least a dozen napkins they are just not saucy enough.

The view here is great. The beer on the other hand--not so much. It's not awful..but it's not worth a special trip. If you're over on the west side, stop in and watch the sun set with a brew..but don't expect the likes of Heartland to be in your glass.

I had waited about 5 years for my second visit to this brewpub. I didn't care much for it then, and my opimion has not changed much.
Much like most of the other NYC brewpubs, Chelsea is more interested in catering to the masses rather than making a commitment to good beer.
I tried the Stout, and was disappointed. It was a bit on the weak side, no bite at all. More like a mild black lager than a stout. I also had their Winter Wheat Ale. It seemed the most flavor came from the lemon wedge. Also very bland
We had some standard pub grub. My wife liked hers alot, mine was just OK. It tasted like the wings were just reheated in the microwave.
We got seated right away, because the restaurant was nearly empty, got our food very quickly, but by the time we were done and wanted to order some dessert, we waited forever. By the time we got our check, I think I waiter had already left!!!
This brewery does have a great location, right on the Hudson River. And right in the Chelsea Piers complex with a ton of things to do - bowling alley, skating rink, golf driving range. It has become a bit of a hotspot. In my opinion, that is the only reason they have been successful.

Once again we played soccer @ Pier 62, then headed over to Pier 59 - Chesea Brewing Co. And, yet again, we were heartily accomodated. We had a great time - Wheat, Blonde, appetizers. This place seems to have the ammenities to adapt to all occassions, crowds, etc. Really, really, nice place + people. Thnaks to Cindy, Brian, John, and Josh (not sure of this name).

Oh. Try the Blonde, and the Wheat. Or, mix the Wheat, or the Blonde, with the Red (bitter).

Universally comfortable sports/pub/bar/brewery/hangout spot/diner. Really nice place man. About 16 of us went there on a Friday evening, after playing some entertaining soccer @ Pier 62. Decent prices, decent appetizers, excellent service, excellent view, excellent atmosphere. TV/Cable, Sea view, tinted glass, Private sections, bathroom. Nice, nice, nice.

My Husband and I made this stop # 3 on our personal Pubcrawl. We recommend the sampler- esp the Red Ale & Better Bitter. Try and sit outside on the dock. A wonderful water view of the boats coming up the Hudson River.

Went with a friend if mine. Nice solid place. Was there late on a Friday night, so the kitchen was closed, and once the Yankees lost the place was almost empty. Got the sampler, which had 7 beers. All solid. The cream stout, which we both got a pint of, was very good. Our bartender was very friendly. For a complete review. Check out my site. Thedanandjohnbeersite.com

Good beer. Chris, the brewer, came from Twenty Tank Brewery in San Francisco, which always was the best brewpub in town. It was a disaster when the building was sold and demolished. You can drink (and eat) at the outside tables alongside the boat slips at Chelsea Pier. On a warm, sunny day, this is the most pleasant drinking spot in NYC. Enjoy!

This place is worth the trip if your on the West side mid to down town. Food was slightly above average for a brewpub and was not overpriced. Beer was good, in pints only ($5), I had the sampler ($7.50) which had all-Blond ale, red, pale, wheat, rasberry wheat(good not too fruity) and stoudt. Staff was friendly and attentive. After dinner stroll along the piers for great view of the hudson, or work up a thirst bowling or on the driving range in the adjacent sports complex.

Sitting outside offers great views of the Hudson river. The beer is good, although I don't spend much time drinking 'fruity' beers the raspberry wheat is one of better examples. Food is good, service at the bar is good, service from the waitstaff is another story.

Good fresh beer with super bartenders with a river view that rates a 10. Food is a step or two above McDonald's and is served by a typical NYC wait staff that is bored, unmotivated and preoccupied.

Chelsea contract brews for some other locations in town and their own brews show up from time to time in places. We went one Sunday afternoon after a walk and watched the sunset while having a pint. I like the beer - all of it. Perhaps not the most unusual you'll ever have, but very satisfying. The CBC cask conditioned sout was available at Blind Tiger for a little while and was top notch.

I did a personal NYC pub crawl on Sunday nite 1/13/2002. This was stop #3. Not as good as the last time(no review was done that time). It was OK but I do not think I will go back. My favorite place in NYC is the WATERFRONT on 2nd Ave and 30th.
