If in the area, don't miss the tour if you have non micro drinkers with you. Non micro drinkers will begin to appreciate the that beer can nearly have a flavor. It's a fun tour, well presented. On the other hand, this brewery which has done so much to advance micro brewing and is at present helping others during the hop shortage, only offers beers appreciated by non beer drinkers. Beers are well made but and so are Coors and Bud - if you like that sort of beer. Some of the extreme beers made by Sam Adams and offered at the GABF would have made the tour much more interesting. Sam Adams can make some great beers so why the heck don't they have a beer geek tour? When in the area visit Doyles for an excellent range of beers - reasonable food in a superb atmosphere that takes you back over a hundred years. Delightful.

In today's Boston Globe; didn't identify the brewery; could this be the old Rolling Rock brewery in Latrobe?

I lived in Boston for many years. Whenever I had a visitor I would take them on this brewery tour then go to Doyles afterward. You really can't miss, the tour is very informative and fun even if you're not a huge beer fan. One time the owner Jim Koch gave us the tour.

Cream Stout is one of my absolute favorites. Sam Adams has remained great despite its success.Negative comments seem to be related to high name recognition. While there is diveregence of selection, one need not be snobish to enjoy their beers.

This is now the "test brewery" for Sam Adams beer (commercially available beer is brewed in Cinci). Tours are not very frequest - just a few days a week, so plan ahead. Brewery is located in a nice old complex just a short walk off the Orange Subway Line.

This small brewery is not where they make the beer that is commercially available. It is, however, where they make test batches of new styles. It is a fun tour, and gives a chance to sample Sam Adams beers that you might never get to try again. And after the tour, it is a short walk over to Doyle's.

I had a nice touristy visit to their local brewery. But you have to admit that Sam Adams is no longer that good. Although they started the micobrew revolution (apropo for Boston) they haven't progressed at all. In fact some say they have digressed and sold out the beer conniseurs. Their styles are antiquated lagers. I tasted their sortie into the IPA world and the future looks dim. It would seem they are very comfortably in the mainstream. If you are too you'll love this beer.

THE CREAM STOUT IS A STAPLE!I FIND MYSELF ALWAYS GOING BACK FOR MORE.THEIR BOSTON LAGER IS SO-SO BUT I AM NOT MUCH OF A LAGER FAN SO MY OPINION IS BIAS. THE ALES ARE GREAT.AND THEY HAVE MANY STYLES.PLUS GOOD SEASONAL BREWS AS WELL. I WISH THEY NEVER KILLED THE HONEY PORTER,OR THE SCOTCH ALE.(WHICH WAS ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER TASTED). THE BREWERY IS ALWAYS ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF BREWING TECHNOLOGY.

We went there on a Saturday and the tour was really crowded which wasw good to see. Our guide spent the majority of the time complaining that it was way too hot and that she was going to rush us through. But the place was awesome. The videos were a bit corny but were very informative...Jim Koch is great. Very good samples at the end. But they had the lines mixed up. The had a new IPA but it was the Lager and the new PAle Ale was the IPA line....Our guide sadly chould not tell the difference. You also get these cool tasting glasses at the end. Great gift shop as well. Get directions before you go because you will NEVER find this place.

Very informative tour. Videos were a bit corny. Samples were mostly excellent.

Boston Brewing Co. is not located in the best part of town and it took a while for me to find it. But it was worth the wait. The tour was very informative and the beers are all very good. Of course, I had already tried them all before. But when you add together great beer and a great atmosphere, the sum is greater than the individual parts. If you are in Boston, don't miss out on this!

Nice tour. Four samples including a small amount of tripple bock. Free glass, free postcards and postage! What a deal for $1.00, which they donate to a worthy casue. Try It!

Never been on the tour (don't know why). But my general opinion of Sam Adams is that they are extremely consistent, and make high quality beer. Each beer tells its own story; each carries its own distinguishing character; each is very solid. Are there better beers out there than the Cream Stout?--No. Than many of the others?--Yes. But you gotta give a nod to the Boston Beer Company . . . where the modern American beer revolution really got its momentum . . .

Very sterile tour. Felt like Anheuser-Busch. Good Beer, but not enough of it. Too long of a tour. Pretty informative though.

They serve the best Sam Adams you can imagine in the sampling after the tour. New Sam Adams brews are also available here on tap before you see them anywhere else. Well worth the trip.

Samual Adams gave the best tour I have ever been on. The beer was excellent as was the tour guide. Best of all you didn't feel like you were bothering the guide when answering questions for you. I would highly recommend this tour to any beer lover. I believe it to be the best value for a dollar in the civilized world!!!

I've taken over 50 brewery tours and this is by far the best one yet. They don't give you that much beer to sample at the end, but they answered EVERY question asked of them. I used to be too good for contract brewers but these folks changed my mind. A wonderful experience.
