The brewery is located right near Times Square. There is a restaurant on the bottom two floors and the brewery and bar on the 3rd floor. The beers I felt were mostly average, as was the food. I first tried a seasonal Northern English Brown Ale, which tasted much like a Newcastle; not bad. The Pale Ale was a decent English-style pale ale. The Pilsner was really just a step above the typical American megabrew.

If you are in Times Square and need a beer desperately or have to stay their because you are waiting for some one than try this brew pub. It was very expensive and the beer was tolerable. This place is just riding on being in Time Square. I would suggest DBA down on 1st or the Blind tiger in the West Village.

I read the reviews and I figured I am a tourist on the way back to Grand Central Station soI said what the hey.
I walked in at 4:00P.M. they had a nice tourist crowd but I still got a seat at the bar looking out the window. The bar is a nice 50's retro look.
The bartender was new from North Carolina so I got great service. He got my sampler and kept checking to see if I needed anything. He was answering all the typical tourist questions on where everything was located. He was a nice guy well tipped.
I felt sorry for him cause the beers were so bad. There was only one other brewery in Alhambra California that had worse beers then this place. When I got there they had a Blonde, Pilsner and four reds with no stouts. I could barely taste the beer over the water. It was like they needed to changed the tea bag. Every single beer I tasted was like they filled the glass with water then added beer flavoring. All I could tell myself is at least it isn't skank beer or infected with something. I know the local New Yorkers are very opinionated so I thought I would take a chance being a laid back Southern California Beer Drinker. But they are right this beer does suck. They must know their beer sucks also because they don't serve any other kind. Or maybe it is so bad Budwieser and Miller don't want thier beers anywhere near this place because it might go bad.
There are to many other bars and breweries in town. Try the others first before coming here.

Very anti-septic digs, but Iāll stick with the beer. I ordered the sampler as nothing on the beer menu jumped out at me. The Blonde was loaded with DMS both in the nose and palate. This beer was bad at best. The Pilsner was OK with lots of flavor, except I wasnāt sure exactly what I was tasting. There were some unknown detractors also in both the nose and palate. Same description for the Pale Ale ā there was some kind of flavor there, but there was a pronounced lack of hops and very little malt to be found also. The Dunkel had a nutty nose but the taste of a bad dry stout. The Seasonal was an Amber, but also very lacking in any characterizeable taste.
Other half ordered a rack of ribs, which I must say were quite good. While I really wasnāt hungry, I almost ordered a second plate of them as they were that good. While the beer was lacking right across the board, the service was very good, accommodating,, and quite friendly as well. I was shown the brew kettles and assured the beer was made on premises. While I probably wonāt go back as a destination for the beer, I will stop again for another plate of ribs and the friendly and beautiful smiles of the young lady behind the bar, who for only two days on the job did a terrific job!

The beers alone are worth braving the crowds in Times Square, but also the pub grub at the bar is top notch and the people watching scene is great. All of the beers are excellent, the seasonal when I visited was a delicious California-style amber ale, but my favorite is the super smooth dunkel.

It should be noted that all of the reviews earlier than June 2001 are for the previous Times Square Brewery that has long been replaced by an office building. The new estsblishment(next door to the Lion King) has recently opened and deserves to be reviewed seperately. Although I have only been to the place to have a quick look, it certainly looks more appealing as a brewpub. Let's hope the beer and food have been improved as well

must be typical New Yorkers leaving these reviews thinking they are big SH**. If you don't like the place why even bother going there. What do you expect from a restaurant right in the middle of Times Square. If you want something nicer go to an upscale restaurant not a FAMILY restaurant. Typical New Yorkers!!! :o)

Reading the reviews is there some sort of conspiracy to down this bar? I visited last November, found the beers of very acceptable quality, the food and service very good and from the upstairs room the views were spectacular at night. Come on give the place its due!

Gave it a try, but have to agree with all other reviewers - beer was crap, why is this place so busy? Service was abysmal didn't seem to want us to pay for the beer, maybe they know how bad it is!
