The beer selection is fantastic! Frequent cask ales and lots of micro and European imports in bottles. Don't miss the Sauerbratten & boiled potato's or Weiner Schnitzel and Kraut on special. Sabine's a riot and it's your privilege to be served by her. I hate to criticize the place but it is very close to being perfect. The waitstaff (besides Chris or Sabine) is hit or miss, some are not very attentive. The Royal Oak expatriates on Fridays and Saturdays may contribute to the "too cool" mentality. I know you're hip but you need to understand that you're in a service industry.

This place is great. 41 taps including a hand pulled ale and not a Bud, Miller, Coors in the lineup. They were all quality beers. My favorite beer from Dark Horse is their Crooked Tree IPA and that was the Dark Horse on tap. Usually if I see Sierra Nevada it's the pale ale and maybe the stout, they had the Celebration Ale on tap. They don't sell samplers but the bartender let me sample at least 10 different styles. He also took the time to answer my questions about the brands that were new to me. There also is a bottled beer selection of harder to find beers. They buy extra kegs of Bells Oberon to last into the winter. The only sour thing I can say about the place is that Oberon was priced 50 cents higher than their other Bells even though they all cost the same from the distributor. I asked why and was told that since Oberon was so popular the owner was trying to get more profits out of it.

Went for the first time before the Leon Russell concert. The place is easy to find and parking is wonderfully free right behind the establishment. There are lots of beer on tap, but some others I would have liked to see. The menu is not diverse, but the food is good and resonably priced.. My friend had a great brat and homemade sauerkraut special. The best thing about this pub was the service. We had a friendly, attentive waitress. This is more like a neighborhood joint, but has lots going for it. Nobody even bitched about my cigar! I think I'll be back before Hot Tuna performs.

My favorite local place for a late lunch or dinner. Menu hoghlights include an excellent sausage (brats, smoked and kielbasa) cheese and pepper plate, tasty quesadillas, and the very best sauerkraut in Detroit. The staff is very knowledgeable (although sometimes a little "dippy hippy". If you're lucky Sabine will serve you, take her reccomendation!

Where are the hand pulled ales everyone talks about? Last Night they still had Goose Island Christmas on tap ---getting a little old! That really makes me wonder about the freshness of some of their beers! I also had a couple of pints last night and detected funny tastes in both ---- I bet it was an issue of not cleaning the lines properly ----- also had a Guinness ---- must have been pured in a record setting 15 seconds ---- they really know little about beer presentation and serving a customer ---if you are not a regular. BTW --- I happen to be 60 and I get the feeling some of it was a little age discrimination ---- especially when a couple I was with were in their early 30s and they were fawned over with service

Fun, laid back atmosphere. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Wish they would bring back the cask ales.

For Metro Detroit, their selection is second to none. The prices are reasonable, too. They also bring in good live music on the weekends.

I visited the Front yesterday. Once again, the variety of beers boggles the mind. The quality of national and Michigan beers is a list of 'who's who' in beer brewing. Out of towner's must visit this outstanding establishment. It has been a while since I've eaten there, but I've never been disappointed with the food. Top shelf recommendation!

Last time I was there, a few months ago, they had a bacterial infection throughout the entire tap system, making all of their beers taste like lambics. Furthermore, they seemed quite content to just keep serving the beer. I used to go to this bar all the time, but then bad tasting beers started popping up more and more often. When *all* of their beer was tasting bad, I gave up.

This place is worth a stop when you're in the Detroit area. They generally have more than thirty beers on tap, usually served at proper temperature, and more in bottles. The staff is knowledgeable and very good about offering tasters. You'll be able to find something you like here.

Outstanding selection of beer. 50 taps that change with seasonality. Beer has been fresh every time I have been here.

This place was recommended to us while we were at a nearby brewpub. The Berkley Front does have an impressive selection of beers on draught, including many from the fine Michigan microbrewers. The bartender was very helpful in describing some of the regional beers that were unfamiliar to us.

if you make it sit at the bar it seems like that every time i am at a table the waiter/waitress is always missing. but dont let that turn you off this seems to happen at every place you go these days. plus the bartenders are unusually awsome they all tend to be very knowledgeable. plus jhonny the manager is always good for a good discussion... they have hand pumped ales!!!!!!!!

Sorry to say this place is closing. Got the word from the bartender that they will be gone by January 1. Hope some other good beer bars crop up to take its place.
